Shame on Kapiolani. Their greed is putting patients at risk, and abusing their employees. Nurse Lock-outs are immoral and should be punished. WE STAND WITH THE LOCAL NURSES.
@@Katsu-v9ythat is not true. Just because they said that on TV does not mean it’s true. HPH has been spreading a lot of misinformation to make their nurses look bad
First of all not everyone is getting 160k it’s says 133K to 160k but to be fair as an RN myself that pay is pretty darn good. But I’m assuming the hospital is not agreeing to safe patient ratio. Like it’s unacceptable to have more than 2 patients in an ICU. Would you want your kid to be the 3rd or 4th ICU patient. Not me. I can tell you I work in the ER and when I have just 1 ICU patient all my focus is on that patient only, I can’t imagine having 3 or 4. That’s nuts. I get it’s a business but they need to hire more nurses and they don’t want to. They want to throw a few more bucks an hour at us to not complain and take extra patients bc it’s cheaper. That just leads to terrible patient care and nurse burnout. But it’s the bottom dollar for hospitals if we don’t force them to hire more nurses they won’t. I can’t tell you how many new nurses quit in the ER bc staffing sucked. Doesn’t matter how much you get paid if you’re running ragged for 12 hours straight 3-4 days a week makes you not want to go in. I just want to say thank you kapiolani nurses for taking a stand. Hang in there. However what’s sucks is that the Kap patients are taking a hit. Hope the hospital gives into the safe patient ratio. It really is the best thing for the patients.
Kapiolani Hospital: "any concerns brought to our attention are immediately address" (empty corporate statement) So, it is now the Patients / family members job to monitor their care for adequacy.
Bamahi. Time to check in. Poor Quality of care by Traveler nurses. Here for a pay check. But negligent. That's testimony. The out of touch COO will go back to her script that public relations AB tested in a focus group. That's demonstrates why care by compitent nurses and proper ratios matter. The travel nurses are less compassionate. They are only here for the bonus and premium pay. Allegedly I don't blame them. 😮😮 The strike nurses get paid an exorbitant amount of money. I'll get back to you on that when I get the numbers.
If you want to support workers, support workers. Travel nurses aren't management, they're workers. They have no control over this situation, and they're not the problem.

Shame on Kapiolani and the CEO who imposed the lockout to force the nurses' hands! They were ready to return to work after the one day strike while negotiations continued. My heart goes out to those families. The nurses deserve a safer & more equitable work environment.

Try calling Kapiolani, the nurse that answered at my child’s specialty doctor office put me through 44 minutes of HeLL repeatedly sending me back into waiting queue till I got the main call center. They didn’t want to take my call & getting paid for it. My child’s PCP ended up trying to help us. In the end I switched my child to a new specialty doctor. Not at Kapiolani, but in Kapolei

This is sickening sounds like these nurses only have experience in general nursing. And doesn’t specialize with pediatrics. This is why i left the field we become nurses to give quality of care no matter how stressful no quantity for money.
I remember 1994 watching my son try and pull a blanket off his face. A nurse glanced over and saw me looking in shock and she went over and took it off of him. I walked slowly back to my room because I was in pain and called them and said bring my baby to me and he stayed in my room from that point on. This was KMC, even back then understaffed I guess.
Why the nurses union turn down having the federal mediator to participate? Obviously they both brick walls that need a 3rd party bridge in the negotiation.
I think people are ignorant of the facts about this lockout! Kapiolani Hospital offered the nurses up to $168k a year for three days a week of work! I don't know any jobs that offer that type of compensation for that amount of work. As far as staff goes, the senior nurses just want more junior nurses, so they don't have to work as hard. Also, did everybody forget the TikTok videos where the hospital staff was doing goofy dances! I didn't forget.
