- "I don't know anything about" is my series based around not knowing anything about a subject and then talking about it regardless. This time I'm talking about the widely popular web comic Homestuck created by Andrew Hussie.

Pretty much the only thing that you really NEED to know you got "wrong" in this vid is that the two people who donated $10000 *knew* that their fantrolls were gonna get killed off immediately.
As a Homestuck fan, you got it 100% correct. Nothing in this video is factually inaccurate.

Trash kun because that's the most important and most prominent thing throughout the series beginning to end. I'm not even lying I think that and finding out he has a strange brother is pretty much his whole character kind of "arc" through the whole series.
Yes of course. Because his confronting the neglect and abuse suffered from both Bro and Cal wasn't really part of his arc, his Bro is just a weird guy who doesn't feed Dave and generally terrorizes him at every opportunity. His decision to show more of his emotions and drop the poker face even slightly, as well as admitting he cared about others and dropping quite a bit of his act, wasn't part of his arc either. They were just things that happened in the comic.
As for why people immediately try to find out Dave's sexuality is because having a non-straight dudebro character isn't common and references to one existing throw people off. If there are more "masculine" guys that like guys in media a time goes on, this obsession will eventually fade.

Homestuck is one of those stories that i read in order to understand how "not" to write stories.
@@four-en-tee Why? Homestuck is a great story. In fact, it's the best example i know on how to write characters, especially teenagers. Having, like, 500k words and most of it being dialogue really helps with that. You probably haven't even read it if you think of it that way.

honestly homestuck is one of those things that you either fall in love with or get bored with instantly. there are pretty much no middle grounds. i'm one of the former and it's safe to say it has ruined my life.
Midnight Cthulhu I feel there could be a third ground where the beginning interests you but you get bored of it by the middle/end.
I fell in the former category, but dodged all of the bad stuff.
i was in the latter category originally, then i moved to the former due to seeing an epic read-through by voxus.
I then stopped when they stopped doing it
later on i reread it from the start and fell in love all over again.
im currently on my 3rd read-through
I got bored with it within the first ten minutes back in high school, then I read the whole thing over the course of the last two weeks.

jesus, the chatlogs were hard enough to read without any brain-eye problems. I can't imagine someone trying to struggle through all of it with, say, dyslexia.

I don't have dyslexia or anything like that but I literally skimmed through every chat log because I hated reading them. I still managed to figure what the clusterfuck storyline was though

Hoo boy, my time to shine with some extremely abridged thoughts.
As a long time fan of the comic, I just would like to say that this was a lot better, accurate, and funnier than I was expecting when I saw it in my subscriptions.
Basically all you need to know is that it gets really weird and meta and intense, and that the fandom (at least the majority) is more toxic than the water in Flint. The fanart of the comic ranges from absolutely beautiful stuff to crappy yaoi and memes. Yaoi is really popular with the fangirls on tumblr too, though yet again that's always a given. Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff is also an incredible masterpiece.
Glad you brought up that Snoop Dogg picture, I honestly think that's the highlight of this comic's popularity.
As for Odd Gentleman, it's strongly implied about the thing with the kickstarter money. There's still no definite answer.
In closing, great job with the video Rev. Now that the comic is sorta over kinda but not really, my advice is to read the comic if you have the time and keep away from the fandom.
Since he mentioned having dyslexia, I think maybe he should give the Let's Read Homestuck video series a try.
It doesn't go all the way through the comic, but it covers more than any other Let's Read and would let him experience most of the best moments in the story. Hopefully Voxus will decide to finish it...
Also, as long as you stay out of shipping wars, the fandom isn't that bad, what with many of them having since moved on or at least grown up a bit since the early days of the fandom. There's still some bad apples, but there always will be, and so long as you steer clear of them (don't feed them) you should be fine.
imo the fandom has chilled out a bunch since the hiatuses like 2012 homestuck is a whole different beast than 2016 homestuck but it's probably a matter of perspective

hey, if youre still interested in homestuck but dont want to read it, there is a group on youtube called voxus who voice act for it. they arent completely caught up with it, but theyre near the end of act 5 act 2 (which took me about five days to binge watch it for the fourth time, my life is sad) anyway, as with homestuck, their voice acting gets better further along in the series.

As someone whose read the entirety of homestuck and has been on that hell-train since 2012 and hasn't gotten off since, I gotta say, nothing in this video pertaining the actual story and character is...inaccurate, per se.
The Toby Fox part is inaccurate, because as far as I know, he only worked on the music. But story wise, you hadn't strayed too far.
Which I think says a lot about how big of a clusterfuck Homestuck is.

Homestuck takes a while to read but there are parts where you sorta just get sucked into it... I got bored and next thing I knew I was on Act 3. Though there are parts that are hard to read (Trickster... *shudder*) and long pesterlogs... very long. And interesting characters and weird designs.... Have you seen Rufioh as a robotic horse? Or Davepetasprite and Arquiussprite hugging? But hey, the music is fucking amazing.
Honestly, the only good parts of Homestuck were the music and the jokes.

As an actual homestuck fan, this is pretty accurate. Nice.
Is that why this and undertale fans are really into fan fiction stuff, porn, shipping, and porn shipping. I remember seaching up what undertale on images and ran into the shipping a cow lady and a skeleton midget. Scrolled farther down to see a scarfed one and spaghetti and porn. I went to the websites which all linked to tumblr pages on shipping and rp. I have some regrets.

Funnily enough, the Undertale fandom FUCKING DISPISES the Homestuck fandom, frequently the Homestuck side ACTUALLY FUCKING ARGUES, while the undertale side just says "TOBY FOX IS OURS AND YOUR OPINIONS ARE WRONG!" In different ways
I think that the weird stuff is happening to undertale and homestuck for the simple reason that both have giant fandoms. Normally weird fanart and fanfiction just stays in some dark corner of the internet, but with fandoms with as many fanartists as Undertale or homestuck they find each other and step out of the dark.
The confirmation that other people are enjoing the same weird stuff as them makes more people share and create said weird stuff and share it openly.
Lastly I think that at the core of both storrys they are about tollerance, witch attracts (as far as my experiences led me to belive) 1. weird people and 2. really nice people who have learned to just let them be and do their own things.
I love how much meaning and philosophy is present in homestuck and I hate how its reputition drives people away from reading it, but I know that I cant change that impression by arguing with random people at the internet. If someone asks me about my opinion or if someone states wrong facts I jump in sometimes, but if i start arguing and attack people who say homestuck is bad I am just another random internet dude who, you have no reason to belive, has more (or even any at all) knowlege or insight than the other guy. The anonymity of the internet makes my statement allways have the same relevance, regardles weither i have read the entire thing four times and discussed it for hours or just decided to say it sucks after the first 20 pages. So I just stayed with the nice side of the fandom and stoped trying to make people, whom i dont matter to, like Homestuck.
PS: I kinda lost track of where i was going with my argument so sorry for that

idk if it's part of my ocd or what, but i read homestuck when i was 13 (it ended when i was... 18?? and while i just vagule kept up with knowledge of it i watched the final flash in my ap english class) and, much like pokemon, a good portion of my knowledge of anything is dedicated to it and i can't remember my moms phone number but i sure can fucking remember pooplord zoosmell.
