It's nice Sennheiser has a pair of these for every reviewer out there but It would also be nice if they could actually stock them for purchase. They've been sold out for almost a month.
just ordered a pair from Thomann
@@Gamez4eveR Looks like they won't ship to Canada. Their site says: "We are quite disappointed with Sennheiser for preventing us from shipping to your country of choice. Please consider products of a different manufacturer or switch to another delivery country"
@@Weaver_Games oh wow that sucks mate I’m from the Baltics so I’m getting mine next week
@@Gamez4eveR Nice, hope you enjoy them!
Are they even available at any Canadian sellers ?
Your soundstaging explanations are insanely vivid and accurate! Thanks for the nice review!
I am a classical pianist and I spend hours listening to recordings and occasionally, even to my own playing. Really glad to know that these will sound great for my instrument. Thanks for pointing that out.
I think I respect Valour a lot because he gives a really detailed analysis, while DMS was like "this is the greatest headphone" and Zeos was like "I only like this headphone on a tube amp"
I feel like "I only like this headphone on a tube amp" is about the most you could tell me about a headphone in one sentence.
they are all shit heads anyway, just wait a few months after they praised a headphone then the next thing you noticed in their new videos is they either shit on them or sold it already
the only headphone that could withstand the stand of time of all their combined BS is the Hifiman Sundara new rev
and that thing have weak bass quantity too
@@OkieDokieSmokie eh..
Thats why i love your reviews exactly what i hear when i got them .
I was so hyped for your review after DMS's review
Thanks for mentioning instruments! I listen to mostly instrumental music and it seems most reviewers focus a lot on vocals but it's great to hear about things like strings and winds.
I owned the 6XX, dt770 pro, dt990 pro and the 560s came in the mail today. I have all of these within the last two months. I have sold the 6XX, returned the dt 770 and am making a decision betweeen the 990 and 560s.
My observations:
From my experience, the sennheiser headphones have greater resolution and detail retrieval. The Beyers definitely have more treble presence, but it lacks detail by comparison.
Soundstage: Dt 990 pro > 560s > 770 pro == 6XX. The 560s is a big step up in terms out sound stage compared to the 6XX. Also, the 770 pro has an incredible sound stage for a closed headphone. Wow!
Bass: The 560s sounds so much tighter compared to the 6XX. It’s a big improvement and there is finally a sense of sub bass. The Beyers still edge it out in terms of quantity, but it’s actually pretty close. The 770s are definitely bass cannons and extend way down low. The 6XX sounds muddy compared to the rest of the bunch.
Mids: 6XX is very forward and warm, which I appreciate for certain types of music. Both Beyers headphones scoop the mids a bit but I think they sound balanced. The 560s sounds the most neutral to my ears.
Highs: each headphone takes a different approach. Right out of the box, the Beyers honestly sounded weird to me. Not a natural representation of treble. I never found it overly sibilant. As I used them though, the “burn in” effect has really smoothed them out. I still would not call them neutral, but rather pleasant. The 6XX was very recessed in the highs but the detail was always there if you listened for it. The 560s sounds just as detailed as the 6XX but with more treble. I think it’s a big upgrade in that regard.
Please try some Open planar magnetic. 🙌🏼
You all describe the 560s as fantastic but boring headphones... 🤔😂
@@arguelles7 not boring at all
@@arguelles7 To me the 560s sounds accurate and dynamic. Good bass, balanced mids, and detailed treble. I don’t think they sound boring at all. I would consider the laid back nature of the 6XX more “boring”.
DT 990 250ohm premium all the way.
Yess I have been waiting for this one !
Talking about bass response. My experience with the headphones were similar. Popping slightly if you add bass on the EQ. But I went back to it after another 100 hours of listening, and when adding bass on EQ there was no more popping in the low range of bass boost. But that little extra makes these the besy headphones I've had by far
Awesome headphone.. i did sell my 6xx thinking this would replace it but no... i need both. This is more vivid. Highs and bass is increased more loud, 6xx at 300 ohms is better for tubes .. I’m extremely happy it sounds great paired with a 789 amp. Really really good
Keep up the awesome work!
SUBSCRIBED.. ! thanks Josh, I'm wetting my toes in the audiophile ocean and will probably send back the beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO 80 ohm's I recently got because they're a hassle with the long cable and otherwise fairly clunky and awkward to use. so I look forward to trying out and comparing the two before returning one or the other . All the best from the south of france.. !
Awesome review as usual
Can you review the liquid spark dac?
Man this review is very detailed and covers exactly what I wanted to know about these. I need your opinion on Panasonic RP-HD10 . Please do review them in the future, I currently own them and I have owned Sony MDR-1a and ATH-M50x in the past . I personally think they are worth recommending to someone. I would love to hear your thoughts.
Just got these, hooked up to Fiio KA3 DAC streaming highest quality on Spotify. Love love love, really connecting with my music on a whole new level here.
Hey Joshua really need your help here. I've been looking for a cable to replace the long stock one. Unfortunately, I bought a silver coated copper which end up making the sound very thin and hollow. Do you have any recommendation or guide towards buying a new cable? Eg: copper, pure silver, hybrid.
I pushed the EQ up on the bass and sub bass and listened to some bass heavy songs like "Mask Off" by future. I didn't notice any cracking and was surprised how much they can bump. The sub-bass frequencies struggle, but the mid bass is impressive with EQ. I can't hear any popping. Driving them with a Fiio K5 Pro, so plenty of power.
I think the pair joshua got a pair with faulty cable connection. You see bass requires big power fluctuation to produce and even a slightly faulty cable will result in cracking. Cracking is not a limitation of the drive.
Dear Josh, nice review, but as an owner of 595/598SE and HD650 I wanted to understand where does it stands in the 500 series not only compared with it's bigger brothers... like 6XX or other brands in that price range. So, I am curious how does it compare with 595/598? Thanks!
Is it possible to buy a shorter cable for this headphone so that i can use it with a mobile phone?
Right now I own the beyerdynamic Dt 990 Edition in the 600 Ohm variant. Looking to upgrade to the HD 600. Would you still recommend the HD 600 over the 560s for classical music? Most of the time I hear choir music and orchestra works.
Would you (or somebody) recommend these or the 400i 2020 version if forced to pick. Generally.
listening on my HD 560S. I like the sound quality of this headphone, really well.
I'm trying to figure out how much sound bleed there is when listening on 40-60% volume without a dac/amp.. I'm planning on using these as digital piano headphones. Do you have any recommendations?
Can you tell me what's the song you used for your intro?
Really love those strings and beat
I'm looking to buy my first pair of headphones and i'm torn between the hd560s and the dt 880 pro. I was wondering if anyone could give me a comparison or some help on which one to choose. Unfortunately i can't try the hd560s. I would definitely consider myseslf a music enthusiast, i love hearing details, i already have some studio gear like monitors, audio interface and a mixer and i like to turn up my highs just slightly compared to the mids and lows on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated !
I just want them for gaming on my pc. What headsets mic can I use and dac amp?
How does it compare to the beyerdynamic dt880 pro? I’m looking to spend 200ish and I’m in between those and the hd560s
What is the size difference in the ear cups between 6xx and 560? Are they the same size, shape and depth?
I'm confused, it comes with a non balanced cable !! So if I connect this to a 4.4 adapter, will I get balanced or do I need a dedicated cable ???
What kind of amp did you use for these?
How should I ideally power this headphone? Please suggest the best Amp/dac choice?
Nice review, thanks.
I have a question please.
I need an open-back headphone for compose/mix electronic music with lot of lows (dark techno, with sub, rumble....).
I'll use a calibration software like Sonarworks, and I'm wondering if this HD 560s can reproduce low frequencies like sub, rumble...?
You say it's really light with bass, but is it only with finished/mastered song ? (I don't know how to explain... english is not my native language)
For example, if I make a sub bass or low rumble sound with a synth plugin, do you think this HD 560s can reproduce well this sound ? Because in the description, I saw "frequency range 6 Hz to 38,000 Hz".
Is a plugin like Sonarworks can help ?
If not, I don't know which open-back headphone I can find in the same price range who can reproduce low frequencies.
I saw that this HD 560s have more bass than the Beyer DT 880, but a guy tell me that there is no problem to make/hear/mix huge bass music with this DT880. So I'm a little lost.... Thanks !
Great video.
a question, in your opinion which is better the HIFIMAN he400se or the sennheiser hd 560s? I am not sure which one to choose as I have seen that both are excellent and have a similar price. but I would like your personal opinion on which is better.
Hey Josh is it possible to hook the fiio MK3 up to a chromedesk pc with klipsch desktop speaker system and make it work ? Appreciate the feedback , good reviews bro
How does it compare with Austrian Audio HiX55 and HiX50?
how do these compare to the tygr 300r?
Can anyone with a ton of heaphone experience recommend an upgrade path from the hd 598. I really love their sound signature but I could use a little more "punch" in my bass response.
I'm trying to get an idea what kind of money is necessary to spend to get an objective "step up" and what cans dac/amp combos would satisfy my craving for the next level of audio quality.
Keep in mind the best source I've plugged my 598 into are my msi mobo. I've done a bit of research and concluded that I would be disappointed with the quality increase that just a dac/amp with the 598 would deliver.
what would be a good amp and dac for this headphone ???
Anyone know the intro music? Been asking for a week and josh isnt replying :(
what is that loudspeaker the sennheisers are on?
I feel one important note here which is slightly missed, is soundstage postiioning massively affects the perceived sibilance of a headphone, I have heard some beyerdynamics the people swear are the brightest, sharpest most painful things and have had no issue, and other headphones that people say are lovely and velvety smooth and yet I found them sibilant.
Hi Mr. Joshua, i Recently purchased the HD 560S and i'm loving these headphones after using Audio Technica MH-40s aand HiFi man 400s; I've never used an audio Dac/Amp just played around equalizer of dolby atmos for headphones, curiosity has lead to EPOS 300GSX interface, will this headphone enhance the audio and i understand the audio difference quite good, just not the technical aspects, only enjoying the different qualities of sound, i know the neutral nature of these headphones, which is why i chose them too and after watching your detailed video too, (***HUGE Thanks for that) , will EPOS 300GSX be aa good budget match?
I am still using a HD535, over 30 years old. I had to change the cable and the cushions, but i feel no need to upgrade.
Trying out the 560s now and mostly agree with the review, though I would like to add a few comments regarding the bass:
I’m hearing articulate, well-pronounced, very tight bass. The effect is impactful, but not overly so, and with nary a hint of bloat. Nothing about this bass signature is muddy or boomy. It is extremely staccato, precise, and clean. I find it very pleasing.
Leaning strongly towards keeping this set. The more I listen, the more I appreciate what Sennheiser has done here.
Thank you for addressing this. He made it almost sound nonexistent. I love bass just not loud kind that tricks rubes lol.
Granted this will be my first pair of audiophile grade headphones and can easily fall into that category if I'm not careful.
I listen to almost everything. Will the bass guitar sound good from RHCP tracks as well as an orchestra or piano? I miss hearing the instruments from band class, nothing I've listened to since school has come close to reproducing them.
@@spamcan9208 did you get them?
@@chrisdeme1010 yes, I did. I really like them so far.
@@spamcan9208 how's the bass?
The sound quality of your videos is so good. May I please know what mic and mixer you're using?
what one is the go for gaming and music use
thank you!
The popping with eq thing... how loud was this and how much did you boost the bass? :D
how does this compare to the pc 37x?
I bought a pair to possibly replace my MDR-1As without doing much research beforehand. I'm using a cheap FX-Audio DAC-X6, so they won't perform at their best, but I'm looking forward to see if they grow on me or not. I might even upgrade to a better DAC/Amp, if I feel the itch... Exciting times!
You gives really good details and used a theoretical language I’m not familiar with. I’m on the market for new headphones. I do video recording and editing. I was using AT MX50x until they broke. I’m not sure if I should stay with another of the same one or migrate to something else. Thanks!
I mix with my HD280 pro 64 Ohm since 2013. I still like them but if I wanna hear loud music it getting harsh. It hurts a lil. Would you say the hd 560s are much better ? I looking for good mixing, music headphones for 2 years now. I am very pissed off.
Thanks.
cool video, thanks. helped me out
Thanks, saved me a lot of time as a bass head.
I tested the audeze in store and liked it. The Diana was too good. Made me sad.
I think that is the life of every other audiophile 😅 Even when you can afford something, can you buy it without the guilt
Does the HD 560S sound the same as or better than Samson's SR850 Professional Studio Reference Headphones ?
Brilliant review!
Can you review the Takstar hd2050 (or his clone, the isk hi2010) and the Takstar pro 82?
The hd2050 are the open back version of the Takstar Pro 80 which is the model from which the hyperX cloud 2 were based on.
The takstar Pro 82 is the model from which the cooler master mh751/mh752's where based on.
They are both very affordable headphones with amazing build quality and great sound.
I think they diserve more attention.
I own both and use them mostly for gaming.
I was thinking about getting the hd560s but don't know if that's going to be an upgrade or I'm going to be disappointed.
I play on consoles exclusively, do you think the hd560's are going to work well plugged to the controller, or they need an amp?
Thanks for the amazing videos. 🙏
Hey I love my ivory and brown HD599's. I prefer them over the HD650s TBH. They are warm and bassy. Those are the only two audiophile headphones I've owned. I have 177x go's coming in the mail tomorrow though =DD
Which beyer headphones offer the best soundstage around this price??? Thanks
Does this need an amp to drive?
will you review audio technica athmsr7b?
Is there even an upgrade from these? Where does one go when they acquire the 560S? What if I want more bass, more soundstage, but retain the detail? Is there nothing under 1000 euros?
I mean I get that Sennheiser made an affordable HE-1 with these but fuck
Is my 598SR still relevant with these out?
What similar pair of cans would you suggest if you were a bass head?
So. I went into sam ash and they recommended the audio technica ath-m50x. I could not wear those for more than 20 mins I felt a huge pressure in my ears both from the sound and the headphones themselves. So I'm returning them. Now I want a suggestion. Budget is $200 powered by a Motu m2, i do have studio monitors (JBL 305p mkii) do I don't need mixing headphones, just casual listening headphones preferably open back since my ears burn with the ATH-M50x.
Solid review. I didn't know what the Senn. veil was till trying the 560S. At this price point w/ a the Zen Dac and the help of someone here who can suggest a good free eq for macs that globally adjust eq. I'll be a happy camper. The eq in iTunes doesn't cut it. Thanks
try now 6xx and you'll see :)
what would you guys choose. hd58x or a pair of these?
Would you recommend these headphones for studio use?
I bought these as a reference headphone for music production
I am far more than happy with them, especially with them only being $200
Does this have wider sound stage than the 599? I would like to use one of them for FPS gaming.
apparently not.
I really need good wired closed back headphones for hip hop and metal/rock. Gotta have good bass but can hear vocals and instruments clearly. Between $200-400. Can anyone help me? I have a Schiit hel 2 amp/dac.
I have a HD 518 now, I want to upgrade. I am looking at Hd 560S and HD 660S, which one will be better ? I don't mind paying 450$ for the HD 660S if it's better. Is the HD 560S that much better than my HD 518 ? Thanks
Would it be very difficult to make a balanced to balanced cable for these? The stock one already comes balanced on the locking side, so why not? And a shorter cable could be really welcomed by some people.
You asked the question 11 months ago Povilas, so you might have sorted yourself out by now.....you've probably found that 1.2 metre balanced and unbalanced cables are available (on e-bay for example).
Although the supplied 3 metre cable has a 4-pole plug on the headphone end as you say, they only needed to run 3 core cable to the 6.35mm plug....but, handily, they used 4-core cable - which means yes, you can go balanced - by changing the 3-pole TRS to a 'Pentacon' or XLR plug, depending on your socket.
XLR would be easier, I fitted a Pentacon. It's Litz cable, so not the easiest soldering job.
Hey man I am kinda new to this and I am looking for a good pair headphones for gaming especially for fps game like warzone / EFT, if you have the choice between these, wich one to pick :
- HD 560S for 180€
- HD 650 (second hand) for 130€
or Beyer DT990 pro (like new, used for 2hours) for 80€
thank you man !
I have a natural distrust of any headphone lacking a metal frame. Sure they might sound good, but can I sit on em?
The mid-bass hump on 6xx makes it sounds boomy and ruins the low-mid frequencies, I have owned the 6xx and sold because of this, and don't forget the very closed in soundstage and recessed treble, so I think the 560s is the new successor, it has much better sup-bass and more forward treble (but not as neutral).
Guys this may be way too late for a lot of people but anyway. Regarding the popping / clicking noise when turning up the bass. IT IS NOT A DRIVER ISSUE, it is actually pretty darn capable of more bass. Try and rotate the earpads in place after they are clicked in so they clip better on the earcups (VERY minor rotations, don't just yank them into a direction). They may not be aligned correctly and it causes "plastic" vibrations / crackling on bass / sub-bass frequencies on not even that loud volumes or bass EQs.
This is what was happening to me, got to this idea of checking the earpads after noticing that when I was holding the earcups with my hands, especially around the earpad elements, the plastic popping noise was gone. So try it, they may be misaligned from production or maybe from the last time someone or yourself has reassembled them. (mine were refurbished)
Is this worth getting if I have an HD6XX
Hi, I'm trying to decide between the HD 6XX, HD58X and the HD 560S
Do you know how they compare in games? Which has the best soundstage and positional audio?
So not counting the tighter bass and other modern attributes of the 560s, Is the hd600 still more neutral so far as mids and treble presentation?
To me yes ... On treble mostly and resolutions hd600 are better.
I’ve been ABCing the 560s with 6xx and 800s for days now. So far my biggest gripe is their plasticky flat-feeling tone. That’s where they really lose to the 600 line. Soundstage, detail and imaging are superb and better than 6xx or 600. FR is on the leaner side and a bit sharp but fixable with a bit of EQ - 1-2 Db here and there.
What are your EQ settings?
Can you give an example of what you can do with EQ?
I have the 599se. Is there enough of a difference to consider it an upgrade or should I put more money into amplification ( currently I run a pro ject S2 amp)? Any opinions anyone?
I have both and the hd560s is much more detailed and flat, the hd599 is smooth but vailes in comparison.
Would these be good for classical music? I like to listen via my iphone while reading? I dont want to spend anymore money than these.
is this better than shp9500
I wonder how this pair compare to the 599?
thanks for the nuanced review, josh. it was a great job as usual. I really want a pair of headphones with exactly this sound signature (as you describe it), but after daily driving the HD660s for a year I am concerned that the discrepancy in technical performance (as suggested by their tier difference) will sour the experience. do you consider the 560s have just enough resolution for someone that is used to 500$ tier headphones to consider them just a headphone with a difference sound signature, or do you think the quality difference is too noticeable and I would be better off looking in my previous price category? if so what headphones up to 400€ do you (or anyone else reading this) think would have a very close sound signature?. thanks a lot to anyone wanting to give any feedback
I think that a step up Under 500 replacing this is a planar Headphones Like Sundara. I have both but i’m thinking to give Away Sundara because i don’t like very much the sound signature
OK so I've started this gorgeous journey of quality sound and got myself a pair of SHP 9500s based on Joshua's reviews, thanks for that! I've owned those for over a year now. I'm looking for recommendations on what could be a nice upgrade to those guys, any help?
my budget is under $300, I'm currently using a SoundBlasterX G6 as DAC/AMP and I've come to find that I like warmer sound signatures than the one offered by the 9500s
So is it basically the exact same soundstage and sound signature as the 598? In that case, is there any reason to upgrade from the 598?
I am curious as to how the HD560s compare to the HD599 since they are around the same price range, any thoughts? I just bought HD58x and I didn’t like it after 10 mins I went back to my old HD598 I don’t know what to do ?? Should I get 560s or 599 ??
Josh, I was really hoping this could be my solution for affordable mixing. Do you have any recommendations for something that could fill that function sub $400?
In case it wasn't obvious from his review, 560s is pretty much dead neutral.
I have both the 598sr and the 560s and when ABing them I feel like the 560s are way cleaner and the 598 more “easy” on the ears.
I want an LCD2 closed back review sooo bad I’m planning on picking them up but there simply hasn’t been the kind of reviews (like joshes lol) I like to see on them before I take the plunge
Esper Moves my recommendation would be try before you buy. Tho closed back in general is just fairly meh compared to open back, so if you expect open back performance you will most likely be disappointed.
Hi , 560 good all rounder, but in Uk it’s sells around £130, I have the 6xx with custom cans bass mod abd really improves the bass at bottom end . Regards mark

kinda late to this, but i'm looking for an open back headphone that has good imaging & wide soundstage for AAA gaming, and found either this 560s or DT990pro.

I think the 990 pro have a V shaped sound profile which might muffle footstep audio, while the 560s have better positional accuracy?

You'll get sound out of them but just add an amp later down the line
Will these sound better than Sony WH-H910N
Would you be interested in publishing the playlists that you use to test headphones? Would love to listen to the music you like!
Your minute descriptions are amazing! I can almost imagine the sound without hearing it. Well, I wanted to ask what sort of line of headphones would be good for some sound staging but mainly bass depth and imaging. I guess something not so shrill. The music I listen to sometimes have different types of percussion.
