Incredible build, one the top hands down. My 2cent is that I consider one of the wizard spell slots hard reserved for shield. If someone can take shield, he should take shield, period. Hold monster is better to be taken from bard spell book to be charisma based, and shield should be the first spell you attune. At least for my liking. I don't even think of wizard as of four slots. I think of wizard as of “getting shield reaction spell and three spell slots”.
Also people keep saying Astarion is best as a monk, but I consider Astarion best as this build. The reason is he gets Happy, which immensely helps while leveling once you get your sharpshooter but still have like 16 dexterity and no consistent advantage.
That’s an awesome idea and I personally love the insane flexibility this build can provided. Definitely shield 🛡️ would be a great add and help against those pesky late game mages.
great rundown of the build. Command grovel is stupidly funny. Got to experience a lot of that with 11/1 Fire Acuity Sorlock. I'd be surprised if it doesn't get nerfed since it's pretty ridiculous that a level 1 spell can be used to aoe disable up to 6 creatures without expending a concentration slot for up to 2 turns if using Extended spell. Then again globe of invulnerability exists which is effectively just a "disable the enemy AI for 3 turns" button.
Really glad you like it! I’m actually messing around with the 11/1 on one playthrough and I’m loving it as it’s super strong. I’m currently playing on pulling less known builds into the lime light and doing as much research as I can to make the best builds for you all.
Okay now this is a coincidence, cause this is a similar build I also finished my honor mode run with. Mostly about the CC synergy items, while playing lv10 sword bard as well. However I am not a fan of ranged weapons in general, I prefer to be close and personal, and I ended putting those 2 levels on paladin instead, for heavy armor and smites and a two handed sword. 1 thing I gotta admit is that I was playing the risky ring as well, which may have not been the best idea as if I wasnt careful, my cc was getting broken a little bit too easily. I want to come back to a similar melee build, but maybe make my concentration saving throws a bit more consistent on that regard, cause I still want to be melee, and a pseudo front liner. Gonna be honest, being able to actually cc things like rafael and the big red dragon on the final fight makes me feel so good, because it feels like it actually matters what I am doing. Like I wanted to play a build focused on cc, but I always thought there is no way it will matter, when the actual enemies mattered, but this one does! Also if you have any suggestions for a melee focused one I am all ears! At first it started as me wanting to have a melee with smites, but for that I felt like I needed more spell slots so I was trying pala 5 and other things like sorc or lock. even was thinking of playing an on-hit build with spore druid, like a necromancer that raised undead and have different weapon on hit dmg, like the acid ring one and the psycic one. I always slept on bard because never sounded appealing to me, but now that I have....I dont want to get off it. Now I am just thinking what else I could combine him with, I wonder if theree is a build for 6 bard 6 spore druid, however I would losee on the elemental summons for 1 level, that lv6 extra attack instead of 5 kinda messes me out on that regard.
I can definitely make a nova based melee version of this. I’ve already seen a few people play around with it online and think it would be a great idea. I’m glad your build worked so well for you and I’ll work hard to do what you say and adapt the bard into a strong 💪 melee powerhouse. Stay tuned to the channel and keep notifications 🔔 on I’ll be working on the build and recording footage so it may take a bit!
For sure I will keep an eye! Your BG3 videos have been very interesting in general. I wouldnt say it worked as well as I wanted, because I probably had a bad concentration cause of the risky ring, which I guess I shouldnt have used, but hey I was able to finish the game. But for sure I want a polished version of the build, I just find playing melee much more fun, or playing caster as I am not a fan of ranged weapon attacks, just for flavour's sake@@ThatAnxiousGamer
This is an excellent build. I just ran Astarion as a 3 Thief / 9 Swords Bard, but I suspect this version will be higher damage by end game thanks to level 5 & 6 Wizard spells. Particularly with the ring of the mystic scoundrel, which I never found in that run.
Yeah it’s pretty insanely overpowered. The band of the mystic scoundrel is located in the jungle you get teleported too after playing the Genie’s game. It’s a really cool place with awesome loot you have to check it out! 💯❤️❤️
It's basically 85 percent the same as your build, with the same spells that you use. On top of that, you have smites, summons and portent dice to really guarantee those CCs. My version is strength based using the gloves of Dex and a 2 hander, with the Savage Attacker and GWM feats, but with 18/20 Str and 18 Dex and the Titanstring now, it can very effectively open from range to stack Arcane Acuity.
It truly makes a world of difference, since you can learn scrolls which is the really OP ability of wizards. It’s kinda nuts you can take a single level and get the best ability of the whole class.
it's not super duper neccesary, helps open up some potentially for the more nichely useful spells but you could easily run the build as 10/2 Sword bard fighter and still have the insane CC. Since you've got the 2nd level in fighter you'll also have action surge for a bit more burst damage in fights (not that you'll really use it that often with all the CC you have but can be nice for some more burst on bosses)
Yeah, fighter 2 would probably be my first choice as well. Goin intelligence and wizard 1 is a lot of investment for a handful of spells that might just as well be cast by a different character. Bard already has all the CC you need.
Wizard or even sorcerer 1 is nice for that lovely shield spell alone. Thing is wizard also gives you other utility like haste on every character, which is like action surge for 10 turns if you have good concentration. Misty step on everyone too. And that's just a dip in wizard. Even 1 spell slot for wizard is nice even if you don't want to scale intelligence. Is it better than fighter? Depends on the build but pure spell casters benefit a lot from a single dip for wizard for utility spells.
Access to a deva and a Myrmidon alone is worth it. Not to mention that you can cast the summons and then replace them on your wizard spellbook. The summons stay.
That’s because this is in honor mode in my game. Certain items are reclassed and cost a lot more. Hope that answers your question friend and so happy to see you on the video. Let me know your thoughts and I appreciate you 💯❤️❤️❤️
It’s a permanently applied buff until the next long rest. Incredible strong in act 3. Each opponent you kill with any weapon increases your spell save DC by 1 up to a max of 3.
What are you talking about Sir? I didn’t know we can own builds in BG3 now. Just to let you know you can freely use “mine” as I don’t believe in ownership of builds, it’s a game and I’m trying to help people have fun….
I don't get why you put this class as S+ tier on your subclass tier list when this build obviously multi classing. Shouldn't fighter be in your S+ tier since you're multi classing this class.
The reason for that is simple. Bard is a much, much better class then fighter overall. In the best of cases fighter is killing 1/2 enemies a turn in melee range and has limited utility. This build can literally freeze the strongest bosses in the game + command grovel 5-6 more…. Then you have utility where this class can talk its way out of 70-80% of fights in the game. Fighter simply cannot. Also simple diversity of actions. Fighter has a simple and effective tool kit but it’s very practical and predictable. Bard is as good as your imagination and nearly endless in the possibilities. That’s why bard is S+ tier and fighter is not. Multiclassing has nothing to do with it.
Yes it’s better for CC and control. The build you’re referring to I plan to cover as well. It’s referred to as a “Nova” build. Much higher turn 1/2 damage while giving up CC and control spell utility. Neither is better they just do two very different things.
I appreciate you trying but i have to jump back and forth between two guides to figure this build out. For newer players make sure to cover the stuff you choose when you make your character

For that reason, I did 1 level of sorcerer to get shield. Plus if you choose cold draconic you can get Armour of agathys
I did 3 fighter (champion) to get crit chance and action surge. 6 bard swords. 3 rogue for fast hands. 1 sorcerer. Killer.

Yeah, I stopped using the globe. The AI just can't handle it and I might just as well turn on god mode which simply isn't fun

Swords bard is so versatile.. arguably part of the best ranged, smite, and CC builds
Hard agree!👍🏻
I just wished you not spoiled on of the last fights of the game with the video.
Great build.

Tbh myself I prefer College of sword 8/ fighter 2/ druid spore 2, it worked as well and I had a lot of fun with it. Bard is just too good xD
If you loved this build, you will adore the Paladin 2/ Bard 8 / Divination Wizard 2 version.
Sounds really interesting, I’ll have to give it a go!

weird. For some reason the game is classifying your caustic band ring as very rare, but in my playthrough its considered uncommon

That Rhapsody, you get that permanent +3, or per fight? You have to make the killing blow with it, not a bow?

This is far from "the best" swords bard build. Honestly not even mid teir.
What would you consider to be the best? Genuinely curious, as I was thinking about giving this one a go.
Thief.
