I like the step by step guide. Thank you. Im watching this a few times cause there’s a ton of good info in it. I happen to have astarion accended so I’ll respec him into this. Also I agree he is not my fav companion.
Don't forget, if you wanna save your ki points you can just use the cunning dash/disengage which is also a bonus action from rogue. Saves your ki for flurry of blows or stuns
Thanks for sharing your build. I am doing ruffly the same but Backwards. Started a new playthrough last week and have Rouge(thief) Lvl4 and now starting into Monk (Lvl1 atm) Its a Stoutheart Halfling and for a feat I took Dual-Wield(SP) for a Rapier/Shortsword combo. Also have the Hunters Bow atm. Figure at 8th Lvl(4 Monk) I would grab Tavern Brawler. Have to kind of see where this build takes me. Welp, have a good one. Peace
Another fun one! I have tried Monkstarion, but it never felt like it fit his personality. I usually run him as a Swords Bard / Rogue, which feels more like him. (He’s snarky, tries to be seductive, stabby, and likes magic). Monkzel fits Lae’zel’s personality well, but she’s just so good as a pure fighter I hate losing her in that role.
Yeah Lae’Zel definitely fits the monk role the best. In BG3 it’s always a balance between what you fee is best and what is best on paper. I’m like 80% power gamer/ 20% role play but monk is honestly a badass role regardless of who is playing it. Thanks again friend for the support you are very, very appreciated 💯❤️❤️
Crazy build im gonna use this one next playthrough and he's gonna be my face character too 😅. I think it adds rp flavor to not always use your CHAR as the face, pleasant unexpected things can happen when u dint always get the outcome that u want.
You will not be disappointed! Let me know if you have any questions dude and I’ll help you out no issue! Please share this if you can it helps me out immensely 💯❤️❤️
A little confusing. This is defenitly is NOT best monk build. First of all, your Ability scores is not optimal for monk(in this case you starting WIS 17, DEX 16, CON 15 - wisdom is better stat for monk than dexterity, so it is better to get hag hair to it and get 18 WIS in first act, if you use it on others, put 2 points to int for saves and start with WIS 16, DEX 16, CON 15). Second - other than Tavern Brawler, monk dont need other feats at all(including ASI). So going monk 9/rogue3 is better for pure monk builds. Third - you even can add 2 levels of fighter to your monk, equp heavy armours and shields and get best ability in the game - action surge. Without sacrificing almost anything(some movements and that all). Monk 7/Rogue 3/Fighter2 - is most optimal dps/tank build. There is some others options, but they are mostly for level 2-9. Last thing - with so much accuracy Monk get from elixir, better to use mask of soul perception on some other party member (for archers and two handed weapon users this item is much better).
I’m glad to hear your input! I certainly found it very interesting and one thing I’ve learned in BG3 is two people rarely agree and that’s definitely a good thing as it means there aren’t just 1-3 meta builds that are default the best in the game. Thank you so much for your feedback and contribution. I hope to see you on my next video you are much appreciated here!
Yes you could absolutely do that. It would lose a bit of strength in act 3 but it would still work for sure. The issue is by using the dex gloves you lost out on an amazing best in slot gloves of soul catching. But yes it’s entirely possible.
It really is! I love that you don’t have to share items with pretty much any other class. I think it’s honestly one of the most unique and interesting options in BG3 and too few people play monk regularly.
Just switched my Act 2 Astarion from rogue/ranger to OH Monk/thief. What your guide and 90% of the guides omit is giving us an Act 1 preferred item list and another Act 2 item list. The majority of the playthrough is without your endgame items. ie. One useful Act 2 strategy is: after long rest cast damage bonus from moonrise tower Drakethroat Glaive on titan string bow then unequip glaive. When initiating an open area battle have ally cast minor illusion to kite closest to edge enemies away from enemy group. While “monk/thief” arrows whittle down health from a safe distance. No party spell slots or monk Ki points used and no damage taken. (Just to improve your guide which is really good for the length of video)
You have a really good point here. The funny thing is if you look at my early guides I do exactly what you speak off. The issue was they were so long and drawn out that even the early part of the build was 20-30 mins long. I’m trying something new now. I have early- mid game builds ( like my support cleric guide), and endgame focused builds like this one and my new shadowheart archer build. Hopefully this will make both types of viewers happy and encourage a good mix of prospectives. I really enjoyed your comment and really hope you stick around the channel ❤️❤️💯
@@ThatAnxiousGamer I agree a longer video would be suboptimal, but the solution is just to list the earlier game items for act 1 , 2 in the bottom of the written description. And as I said, this is not criticism but just constructive comments because it is a really well done guide already.
@darbshiler3866 thanks that a great idea. Honestly the hardest part of these is just the time needed to make them. I originally made guides in 2/3 parts starting from the early game and those were super unpopular 😂. I do my best but plan on doing something different by making early game builds that you can use before these come online which is what I feel to be the superior option for most people.
Sorry I can see why that’s confusing. The Elixir of hill giant or cloud strength you will use after you long rest and will last until your next long rest. The potion of speed you’ll use in combat and will only last 3 turns. Hope that clears it up these are two different and separate types of consumables.
@@thomaspapamargaritis5945 I’m so happy you like it. There are a lot more coming including a crit fighter, spore Druid and others. Hope to see you around the channel and consider subbing and membership if you find the content useful 💯❤️❤️. You are very appreciated here friend!
Other streamers have expressed that the levels are set to move higher in even numbers, any thoughts on this since you’re recommending a 17 on dexterity?
The modifier for BG3 does indeed move up only on round numbers. 14, 16, 18, etc. the reason I recommend 17 here is that’s the highest you can start the game with if you pump your +2 into dexterity. Monk is very interesting as a character as it’s one of the few subtypes of characters who scale off of 3 primary attributes ( dexterity and wisdom and strength ). The TLDR to your question is by starting with 17 dexterity and using the hag’s hair for example in act 1, you can have very high damage early in the game. Remember also to be sure to use the strength elixirs too as this is very important to the build and is the only reason we can dump strength.
Both legit suggestions. Personally I prefer this method as I said for the unique items+ having 3 feats which is very ideal. But that’s definitely an option you can pursue. Builds should always be adapted to you and what you find most fun! Please let me know if you have any other suggestions or questions and please share the video if you’re able!
"The best" guide for open hand monks and there's no tavern brawler? EDIT: Just skimmed through and didn't watch enough to see that he used str elixir later. And obviously didn't watch the part where he took the feat. 😅
I have a time stamp for level 4. Right then I take tavern brawler… Did you never watch the video maybe?🤔 I’m sorry not trying to be rude dude but this definitely uses tavern brawler…
@@ThatAnxiousGamer Oh, my bad! Just watched the starting stats and a bit of the leveling process, but I didn't watch the part of the build in action, where you had used the elixir of x strength. Thought you would be using elixir of bloodlust, because it's so easy to get str to 20(+) even without a str elixir when going tavern brawler. Str elixir build is better on honour mode, but bloodlust elixir build is better on other difficulties.

There is a amulet in act 3 that gives you plus 1 to wisdom tho so you can take it to 20 it's a amulet in jaheira home
