i dont like this guy interviewing. As they talked about the song Surrender, he kept focusing on Roger's experiences with domestic violence--like the A-hole was trying to get Rog to share his private life no one really has any business knowing. The song told the world enuf of Rog's knowledge on the subject.
@@TheLaura04Ita Within the first 5 mins...so not long in...I can't believe that the interviewer went from 'Surrender' to 'Nazis' and then BACK to 'Surrender' again!!
It makes me happy that life has been good to you Roger. Thank you for all you have given back to the world. We are still out here listening to your music every single day. Blessings to you and yours.
Just gotta love him. Love that wonderful dry witty sense of humor. So good to hear Rog live - too many times he just smiles and mutters something obtuse and hilarious under his breath. Domestic violence is pandemic across the globe it's not unique to any one country. I also love the way Roger doesn't tolerate fools. Love you Rog keep speaking up about lots of things that some want to keep hidden.
Some of us who are survivors would rather not be reminded or want to talk about it. It's not dismissive or kept hidden. It's triggering for many people. That's why people don't want to talk about it to other s or publically. Even Roger doesn't talk about his own experiences much.
That opening question... Since when is it weird not to have a track titled the same as the album? He asked as if that's like a normal thing. Oh yea, remember those great Queen tracks, 'News of the World'.. 'A Night at the Opera'.. etc? No. Remember the classic Pink Floyd song 'Dark Side of the Moon'? NO.
Conveying such an anecdote was probably just a means of asking what the title is about. I think the interview is pretty good: the interviewer is well-prepared, and Roger's answers reflect this.
Sitting home in Singapore With my girlfriend, I just started four days ago listening to this CD and tonight I played it to my girlfriend and she loves it!!!! And that makes me happy!
Sometimes it can't be a thing of the past, why? Because people make sure they bring your past up and throw it in your face quite literally, and hours later it's playing through your mind over and over.it takes months years get over domestic violence but, I don't think you ever get over it especially when you've not been allowed talk about it, you think you've escaped it but it haunts you.
She’s hiding, shamed by her situation - thanks for confronting this taboo subject that the majority disbelieve. All power to you beautiful, sensitive cutie pie 😘
Anyone who's been in the music biz as long as Roger, has certainly seen their share of domestic violence. It doesn't have to be his personal experience. There's so much of it in that business, I'm sure it's been in the lives of his friends and loved ones.
Roger I can relate so much. My younger brothers and I would go to school with bruises, cuts, and black eyes. Occasionally a broken bone. It was obvious what was going on at home but back in the late 60’s thru 70’s nobody questioned anything. It was all considered a “family matter”. I tried to get us kids saved from the abuse. I was 15 at the time. I spoke up to a school counselor who called in someone from Family Services. I was told it was okay to tell everything. That it was just between us. By the time I walked home, my father and grandmother were called and told everything I had told them. I received my worst beating that day. I decided I was done. That night I ran away from home at age 15 and never went back. I eventually was able to get to Chicago to live with my mother. So I may not have experienced the exact same sort of abuse, but I definitely can relate. Virtual hugs!
Dear Roger, I am so so glad for you! You are a wonderful singer and musician, I love your singles! I love your titles and the subjects, domestic violence, nazis and so. I love your work. Congrats.
I mean yea, this interview was ‘98 and he died ‘91 so just shy of 7-8 he had been gone, I mean it still affects Deacy and it’s been what like 30years? I mean ofc it hurt him.
I am glad to have someone to relate to. Right now I am sixteen so there's nothing I can do but there's only two years left until I can run away... thank you Roger
Roger has such beautiful hands. I know it’s old fashioned to say, but I wish he’d never gotten the tattoos😔 wonder where that influence came from (I know the answer so don’t answer me luvies)😘
@@moonlightgirly4285 omg.. I feel so bad for him! but then that means it must've happened when he was pretty young, right? because he's had his famous temper ever since Queen was Queen.. so maybe an early on gf??
Just speculation but perhaps explains why his parents divorced when he was 14. He was the only member of the band with divorced parents. Quite unusual in England in the early 1960s, assuming the divorce laws were different then
He looks like he’s been drinking. I want to like him but just can’t get past him saying John Deacon was a sociopath. That is not cool, Roger! How would you like it if someone labeled you! It’s just not acceptable.
KathyW2200 I’m not sure. He was talking about him not playing with them any longer and not really talking to them about anything but the business side of Queen. That hardly calls for him being a sociopath. I just thought it was totally uncalled for.

Not playing with them doesn't pair with not speaking to them at all. I feel for all of them, as they not only lost a friend (after watching him die for years, a horrific situation), but their jobs as well, really, as the group as they knew it ceased to exist.

Indeed, poor Roger, during this intervieuw he sometimes was confused, the intervieuwer should have noticed that!!!!
