I grew up in the 80’s and 90’s and after music hasn’t been music since about the mid 90’s. Late 60’s through early 80’s rock can’t be topped. Queensryche Silent Lucidity is an oddity that sounds more late 70’a than early 90’s
Being an African american born in Chicago in the 60's,I have heard so many bands and so much music and who ever said music has no color bounderies is right Styx is one of my favorite rock bands, they've made some amazing music over the years and I'm glad I got to hear some of the best rock songs written in rock history by D..DeYoung and T.Shaw........Peace
We had so many talented musicians back then, Didn't realize at the time how lucky we all were. what a awesome time to be alive and experience that whole era.
I'm 59 years old here in 2022. Been listening to STYX since I was a kid. I have a few STYX songs on my Spotify and LADY still gives me goosebumps and I drop the hammer rolling down the highway.
My wife and I were HS sweethearts '74 '75 and '76. Married 1980 and now 40yrs, 3 daughters, 10 grandchildren. I love this song!! Danced at our wedding to this song.
This new crap is here today and next week is old crap. 60's - mid 80's was the best ever. Much like classical music it has and will forever stand the test of time!
Styx was my first ever concert...Crystal Lake High School Field House, 1974, I was a student at North Junior High and the ticket cost $1.85. It was absolutely amazing.
Saw Styx last summer at Saratoga performing arts center in Saratoga New York. They were amazing. They opened for REO Speedwagon, but it should’ve been the other way around.
Yeah when they were popular back then, you had to have actual talent and song writing skills, compared to the stuff they put out now, oops sorry, meant garbage they have now they put out now.
Dennis DeYoung.. Yes, probably the next best voice of all Rock N Roll, alongside Steve Perry! Two of musics best! They both sing from their heart with emotional feelings!
We can tell them how it was. They can listen to the music we had at the time. But we can never make them understand the magic of the moments we shared being there. A unique time in musical and cultural history. Glad I was born and lived through a time like this.
Notice how JY played the solo and sang background vocals at the same time and didn't miss nothing! Awesome musicianship! Styx is so underrated! The songwriting, arrangements, vocals and musicianship is on full display here!
No idea what is best… the beautiful piano…. The driving bass and guitars… the lyrics…. The incredible voice…. Can you imagine packaging something like this today?? You could make billions….. still brings a tingle to my mind 59 years and hundreds of listens later….god kids today have no idea
One of my all time favorites, always crank it up when I hear it, was fortunate to see them back in 1979, all original members, 2nd row center, April Wine opened up, don't get any better than that.
This moment started it all for me! I was only 13 and the first live music performance I had ever seen. The stage floor opened up and he rose up, had a baby grand piano, and my mind was blown!! Since then, many years of wonderful concert moments!
I saw Styx a couple of times in November of 1978 on their Pieces of Eight tour. This song was one of the highlights of the show back then. Not just because it's a great song, but also because of its presentation. The lights would dim completely save for a single spotlight at center stage. You would then hear Dennis playing an improvised intro on his piano as it rose into the spotlight from underneath the stage. Once the riser had settled into place' he broke into "Lady" and the crowd went wild. I've been to a lot of live shows and this remains one of my all time favorite concert moments. Great song, great visual. I just wish I could find it on video. If anyone knows of the existence of said video, then please let me know!
Thanks, Colin. It's not quite the version that I'm looking for, but it's still an interesting video to watch. They must have been touring on Crystal Ball at the time.
Ah, I see. I'm very familiar with LRB's Lady. Great tune. And to be clear as to what I'm looking for, it's video of the live performance of Lady that Styx used to do back in the late 70's. It's what I described in my first post. Thanks for your response, Dawn!
I sang this at my wedding for my wife to be and she still tears up when I start humming the verse what a great song an I chose a great woman … I will alway LOVE you Shelley
Dennis DeYoung and Freddie Mercury, two of the greatest voices of the 70's & 80's pop genre. Back when Pop meant Popular, not the bullshit like we have nowadays.
If you grew up listening to this music back in the 70's, like I did, we were so VERY lucky!! There has not been music like this since, PERIOD!!!!
We were blessed with great 70s music, so glad I was apart of it
I'll never never forget it
Even at 10 yrs old I knew it was magic. And here I am 43 yrs later.

Did you know that Crystal Ball was about. A dude down on his luck, in Mobile, Alabama. And the band happen to find him. And the rest is history.
Love stories like your man ! Thanks for sharing 👍

Boy isn't that the truth ! Such talented groups that put out fantastic music. Styx is certainly up there. Good stuff man !!
We were definitely spoiled with the caliber of music we had then. Pure awesomeness!!!
Oh Styx is very talented from singing to the guitar and the drums.I believe they are one of the greatest in the 70s period.
Was my & my husbands ‘song’ when we dated. We are still together, and love each other after 43 years!

Just saw Dennis DeYoung this week in concert. His voice is still incredible for 73 years old !!
Dennis has an eternal voice
Legendary
Always preferred him over tommy shaw
Probably cause he took good care of himself, unlike many other rock band singers.
Bummer the group styx will not let him wing with them anymore OR bummer Dennis does not want to.
I'm 59 years old here in 2022. Been listening to STYX since I was a kid. I have a few STYX songs on my Spotify and LADY still gives me goosebumps and I drop the hammer rolling down the highway.
I'm a few years older than you & I'm still blown away with Tommy Shaw's voice today! It's so nice to relive memories past of Styx & Tommy Shaw.
Goosebumps. Exactly!
I'm 59 🤘
Im 16 and I grew up with this stuff too I love music from the 70s especially this gem
I'm 50, it's the same for me, been listening to styx my while life.
"These bums" made some of the best music you will ever hear in your life, and this song tops that list.
Saw them last summer with Foreigner. Just won tickets on radio for A ug. Next
If you have a lady like this, make sure you not only tell her, but show her in every possible way.
Back when singers actually sounded the same when they played live versus recorded.
and they could actually sing, no auto tune back then......
Just saw them last night and they sound the same still! Great high energy show!
❤️And, they are also great musicians! Very impressive. No auto-tune!❤️
Yes!!!!!
Amen
this is one of the best live songs i have ever seen ...feel the energy ...and Dennis's VOICE !!!!! wow !!!!!

Hard to believe they're not in the rock and roll hall of fame. Super powerful group.
That is total bullshit! They should of been in there years ago!!
wow wtaf... that's dumb..
🤯That makes no sense. Styx was phenomenal & Everyone had a Styx record followed by and 8 track tape.
The tall guitar guy, JD, stole the band from the musical genius, Dennis DeYoung, 20 odd years ago and doesn't want to face him in person.

I got to see Styx in mobile Alabama in the 80's.
Amazing how a song can provoke so many memories like school dances and first loves. We always went everywhere with Styx ❤️

They need to reconcile with the man who gave them their greatest songs…he’s ready & willing…and they are too old to hold grudges for this long!!!
Love this song so much - beautiful piano intro. and then that amazing voice so clear, so strong and it's live!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Steve Ross.. And I believe the late great Brad Delp of "Boston" could be added in there as well.. :-)
I agree. :)
MetalMistress888 Right. I saw them a few times and what a great band.

One of the most underrated voices and guitars ever.
3 rock legends.
Dennis is not underrated, believe me, I know a few females that would dispel that notion very quickly.
Styx is actually underrated as a band; other groups from the 70’s often steal the glory.
The whole dvd is awesome!! A must for every Styx fan!!
Saw them perform 47 years ago in concert! They were amazing🙌👏👊
A masterpiece! Timelessley rocking through the annals of rock history.
