It’s nice to see the rare example of keeping your integrity and not selling out to sponsors, Neil! I truly appreciate that. That being said, Make your money. I won’t look down on you for promoting products that you use. People who do what they love should be able to have the opportunity to monetize.
Neil, your videos have become a welcome part of my Sunday morning relaxation routine, right along with the crossword. I don't even care about the perks of being a Patreon member... I'm happy to contribute support to channels that I get enjoyment out of. You should totally do the Patreon thing. I don't have any use for a DDD hat, but I'm happy to support Neil. Don't change your honest Midwestern morality and humility - we love you for who you are. No need to become the other UA-camrs. But if you can make it work to do this and quit your day job, you should totally do that. :)
Hello from South Korea. As you have suggested in previous videos, I came to your channel from Bamamass. I enjoy your content. I grew up on a small farm in Southeast Missouri and we heated our house burning wood. Thank you for the continued content.
Don't thank me, I would like to use the opportunity to thank you and all the people who in some way or form contribute to your videos. Week after week I read comments from people who really love your channel and content (I'm one of them).
Whoa! Well, I’d like to show my appreciation with a comment at least if I’m not allowed to thank you! 😊 I do value all your great comments and am very grateful for your viewership. Your kindness is humbling. Thanks for being a supporter!
Your take on sponsors is spot on. I was actually planning on messaging you about getting on Patreon. My wife and I support multiple people on Patreon and I would 100% support you if you did that! You might be surprised with how much people are willing to give. Don't feel bad about getting (or asking for) money through Patreon. You add value to people's lives through your videos and it only makes sense to give people an opportunity to compensate you for the value you add. One of the Patreons I support (Nextlander) is a very different type of "product" than what you offer, but they do a fantastic job of utilizing Patreon, being very authentic, and meeting their audience where their audience wants to be met (mostly, you can't please everyone all the time). I strongly encourage you to at least give it a try.
Can never catch you live, but really enjoy your work. My encouragement is to do what you love, treat this as a project. Projects have a start and a finish. If this starts to feel like it owns you, put it down. Do something you enjoy, and evaluate if the project is finished, or not. I would venture what most of your audience enjoys is "doing your projects with you." Thank you for including us.
So did I 😪😪😪. Is the only channel I have followed every week since it came up in my feed (I had to look this up) 3 years ago ''15 Years With Outdoor Wood Boiler: DETAILS - LIKES & DISLIKES'' . Missed 2 months when I was in the hospital and watched them when I came home.
Missed the live stream. You are one of my favorite channels to watch and I always look fwd to a new video every Sunday. Cheers to a happy and prosperous 2025! 🍻
Thanks! Watch you from Dallas every week. I live vicariously through your channel. I do what I can, but with a two car garage and 1/3 acre lot there’s only so much you can do.
I have never used Patreon but me and my wife love watching your content. So, if that's the route you went, I would follow. I do appreciate you not pushing or recommending products you don't like yourself.
Darn it! I missed it!!! Neil, you've got integrity, morals and values... That's rare these days, especially on the streets of UA-cam... at least in certain genres... I think sponsorship is fine if it's a product that you believe in and use... Or even in the case of a company sending you something to try out, give your opinion of, type of thing... I just really enjoy watching because you're authentic... a family man... a community man... I could just watch you drive in circles, even in time lapse, dragging and grading driveways and yards... something hypnotic about it... LOL... Still waiting for the dining room reveal!!! What a nice way to ring in the first Sunday of 2025, just sad I missed it... Must check my notifications!!! Again... Happy New Year!!!
Hey Neil sorry I missed the live stream this morning unfortunately I had to go in to work for a couple hours I enjoy your videos, look forward to seeing your videos on Sunday mornings
Hello from Southwest Florida and Happy New Year! Our whole family enjoys the channel! We sure love that part of Indiana and always dream living up there….just not sure if we could handle the winters with our thin Florida blood😂
I think the two you did a good job with your cousin reading questions & you talking away. Thank you for kicking off 2025 on the good foot! KUTGW & see you in your next video!
Stay authentic to yourself. You'll sleep better and your honesty will reward you in the end. I loved your video when you went out and did the actual soil sampling. It was really interesting. I'm just a 64 yrs old who's got artificial knees but love what you do, I love farming, trucks, tractors, and all the people you view, I view. Please put a list of people you watch in your description box for us to follow.
Please don't read ads. Patreon would be a better choice. Thanks for the content. As far as sharing stuff you use, no problem but don't just read ads and take a break to share the product in a video. This takes time I get it but personally I pay for UA-cam premium so there are no ads. Go with the support model like patreon or channel membership. Let sponsors pay you to review or supply goods. At the end of the day it's your show. I just bought a small place and would love to see you share info on crop and soil management
Happy New Years gents from Sydney Australia, as a parent myself I understand how limited and valuable time is so you should be rewarded in some way for the time you dedicate to the channel for the entertainment of us the viewers. Would be more than happy to support your Patreon or even sponsored videos.
Live stream was great! There are YTers that do it all the time that don't handle them as well. Taking time when you need it is the way to go. There have been a spate of YTers recently that have taken breaks or quit because of the constant pressure of producing content. Keep up the great work...at your pace. 😊 Thanks
Building, my son bought a 30x60 pole barn kit from menards. We've been working on it since September, it's a big project but totally doable by anybody who can hammer nails and dig holes. By diy'ing we're saving+/_ 30k. We are going to hire out the concrete though.
Honestly Neil, I appreciate your take on sponsors and ads but I also understand why you would want to accept the offers. I enjoy this channel every week and I know it’s expensive to keep the equipment and trucks up and running and registered. Your channel isn’t a channel where you’re getting paid for the work you’re doing in the video so if I have to sit through an ad for a product even if you don’t use it, so be it. Keep up the good work and best of luck in your future. Happy New Year
Cool, Woke up from a nightmare to a live stream. Had to Play back from the start. I lived in Brunssum, Netherlands from 1970 to 74. Thanks Neil... EDIT; Sorry I missed the Stream Neil.. It ended just before the Playback at 2x finished and I was planning to chime in with the msg above... Mike M.
Good morning, Neil, good morning, Tony. I didn't get up in time to watch you when you live but I am going to watch the video now as I drink my morning coffee. Happy New Year to you both from Price Utah.
Loved the new items you bought & thanks for another idea for breakfast or for dessert. Sounds good & looks good. Love the pillows and artwork, too. The apartment is looking beautiful & cozy. Thanks Anna for sharing.
I’m sorry I missed your live stream. Too early! I live in Illinois and in the Central time. Anyhow, I love your channel. Some other channels I like (besides yours) are; FarmCraft101, Andy’s Little Homestead and Laura Farms. Good question on Health Insurance. Something has got to give. They need to take the profit out of it.
Profit isn’t the problem. Lots of industries provide great service for profit. Service will go down when profit can’t be made. See Canada. The issue is regulation that results in perverse incentives. Insurance companies have gotten the laws to favor them over others. That’s what needs to change.
Also my family came from Southern Denmark, northern Germany in the 1860’s. Lots of German names in this area of Australia. I noticed a Kock road the other day near Tenterfield NSW.
Appreciate the question on shop dimensions. Good visual of usable space with trucks taking up half the space. Might think about a drive in drive out set up. You know the girls will be driving soon...

I didn’t get up in time to watch you and Tony live this morning. My question is for Tony, how many years has he been a volunteer firefighter? I am going to be celebrating my 32 years in the fire service this year.
Neil and Tony, morning (actually afternoon here in UK). Sorry missed the live, Sundays are a busy day for me YT wise. You normally arrive afternoon here, just right to watch as things calm down a bit. Got to get a bath in, as well as watch my regulars first thing in the morning. Definitely go the Patreon route! I already support several creators, so you would be another to join my list! Being retired, I have a lot of time on my hands, that, as well as being disabled, jives me plenty of time to watch a lot of people. Now onto my real bugbear, how people pronounce your and my Names. I've had to live with it for 70 yrs, and it really bugs me, but being typically English, don't let people know that it really winds me up!!!!! If I meet anyone Celtic by descent, they know with very little exceptions, how to say it. Sorry, I had to say, as you can understand better than most my frustration, as I get older it doesn't get any easier either. Lol!!!! One thing I have to say is that Tony bears a remarkable likeness to my favourite Channel's, The Big Swede, 25yrs down the line for him! Uncanny, please Tony, try to look at Larson Farms, Eric is a very clever man and even sounds like you very quietly spoken.
Check the nebula plataform in case the patreon one does not work out for you. And really good luck and best wishes for you and your family for this new year

@Neil Koch: Dig-Drive-DIY I'm building a pull type box grader for my 316. Any advice on 48" vs 60"? Mostly want to clean up my gravel driveway and spread topsoil in the yard.
Hey Neil, I enjoy your channel. Just curious about your religious faith. You never mention it, that’s ok but I’m curious. Talk about it. I’ve been watching for 2 years

Hello from South Korea. As you have suggested in previous videos, I came to your channel from Bamamass. I enjoy your content. I grew up on a small farm in Southeast Missouri and we heated our house burning wood. Thank you for the continued content.
We really don’t mind watching the ads on the channel or listening to sponsorships. It’s a free way for us retirees to support your channel
On purpose, I often play the video more than once without sound after I have seen it.
Don't thank me, I would like to use the opportunity to thank you and all the people who in some way or form contribute to your videos. Week after week I read comments from people who really love your channel and content (I'm one of them).

Loved the live with your cousin. Need this duo a couple times a year.
I’d be up for that.
Hey from Fl . Love watching your show.
Great live video! I like your take on sponsors, Milwaukee would be awesome! You can’t get too many of their tools lol
Great video as always. I like the videos with Greg from G and K. Your cousin does a nice job helping you on the live stream.

Value for value model 🦾🎯
GandK would get alot of views if they started a UA-cam model. I would agree.
Found your channel this year and I really enjoy the channel! Jim from NH

It's Sunday our only day to sleep in. just woke up. Sorry we missed it. Would never miss a post.
Happy new year. I deleted the UA-cam app and watch in safari so it wouldn’t let me jump in the chat. God bless and hope you enjoy your time in Texas.
Why delete the UA-cam app?
Good morning, Neil, good morning, Tony. I didn't get up in time to watch you when you live but I am going to watch the video now as I drink my morning coffee. Happy New Year to you both from Price Utah.
Happy New Year and thanks for watching!
Casey Ladelle has a good approach for sponsors - he feels the same way. He only does sponsors that work with his approach.

Good question on Health Insurance. Something has got to give. They need to take the profit out of it.

It was late at night here.
I’ve only seen snow twice in my life.
Also my family came from Southern Denmark, northern Germany in the 1860’s. Lots of German names in this area of Australia. I noticed a Kock road the other day near Tenterfield NSW.
Day in the life for your wife!
If the bronco goes like Bruno it will be a great playlist.
Hi Neil. Happy 2025.
Appreciate the question on shop dimensions. Good visual of usable space with trucks taking up half the space. Might think about a drive in drive out set up. You know the girls will be driving soon...
Yeah, I’ll probably lose a bay or two for them too!
Hope & pray you all have a blessed year .
Yes it's live. Good morning.
Happy new year Neil. You seem to be a pro at caulking and painting. Which caulk do you prefer for your moulding and painting work?
Kara does the caulking and she uses DAP from Menards. It’s water cleanup but I don’t know much about it without looking. She’s the pro in that department. :)
Alot of people I follow only post about once a month, it is fine if you get busy. Think all of your followers will look for your posts.
Morning fellas! Thanks for all you do Neil.

Maybe try a collab with RR Buildings in northern IL. He builds great post frames on his UA-cam.
Missed the live but I have wondered if your work has ever tried the Rogo Ag thing for soil samples out of Wolcott Indiana. Their system looks pretty cool.
Yes we have tried it. It works fairly well but a little pricey as a sub contractor for us so we still do most of our sampling in house!
Building: back in or drive through with door on each end?
Basket ball hoops that fold up out of the way.

@Neil Koch: Dig-Drive-DIY I'm building a pull type box grader for my 316. Any advice on 48" vs 60"? Mostly want to clean up my gravel driveway and spread topsoil in the yard.
