How to Frame a Bathroom Mirror for Just $10 !!

- Опубліковано 29 вер 2024
- Framing a bathroom mirror is the EASIEST and CHEAPEST way to transform any bathroom! Please tell me 1 other way you can transform a room for less than $10? I don't think you can do it, but prove me wrong in the comments.
Every bathroom I've owned in both my primary home and my investments gets a framed mirror. As you'll see in this video, even plain bathrooms like this one gets a frame, all the way to my most elegant master bath remodels.
The pine wood here is only a few bucks per piece, even during this 2021 lumber market, and then a small thing of stain and caulk or mirror adhesive to hold this stuff on. Some of you may say "it's more than $10 with all the stain and sandpaper and glue!". True - but I'm assuming most people that are attempting this will have some leftover sandpaper and some tubing of caulk of some sort. Even if you don't, think of quantities of scale - but 1 can of stain and you can do 20 bathrooms.
Hope you enjoyed this mirror framing process and I'm glad I could finally get my tutorial out to you all!
Thanks for watching this how-to video.

Let’s be honest here. This project is way more than $10 unless u have the piece of pine wood, wood stain, sandpaper, sander, glue, pre stain, polyurethane, etc
And a saw…
I'm currently doing this project now, and I spent Over $120 on the red oak boards for my project.
Ya I’m just gonna paint it white…
Love the Mandalorian reference. Thanks for this! Much easier to do it your way than the way I was planning.
I have a monster mirror in my bathroom that I have been wanting to frame…for about 10 years. I keep putting it off because the bathroom needs to be updated. This may motives me to do it anyway.
Definitely try it out! It's cheap and easy
“Not sure if anyone is searching for this”….oh no no no I purposely looked for this 😂
I did!
Right?
Yeppers.
Me too
Same
There is no way to find 1x3 pine boards for $10. Real project price is $100 not $10
$2-3 per foot is more realistic
Stain, coat, glue will be over $30
Minimum project price is $50-100 depends on mirror size
Yep… unfortunately you are correct!
+$500 for that power saw and other tools. It's like one other charlatan who posted how to build a $10 chairs, you just need a $10.000 workshop.
Because the price off ALL wood has gone up.
Totally agreed. I bought the box saw and then trim pieces because it was so expensive otherwise. Definitely not a $10 project unless you have the various products hanging around. The stain and brushes and varnish and caulk gun and adhesive will be far more than $10.
@@My-Opinion-Doesnt-Matter Funny but true. I'm into my project for $600 because I had to buy oak boards, a new miter saw and various other items. I don't care, because I'm still at half the cost of the new mirror with oak frame that I was going to buy originally, plus I get to keep the saw for other projects!
This was not as helpful as I thought. Elaboration would be great as well as some examples
I tried using Liquid Nails or something to put up a mirror frame like this... the darned thing just fell apart after a year. I'm now looking into a more hardware based approach - L-brackets and screws to hold the frame together, and then find some way to mount it to the bathroom wall.
Yep, this is precisely what I was looking for. A friend of mine suggested I consider putting some type of frame around my bathroom mirror. She is a great decorator. So, years later, here I am. This helps alot. To say the least. Thanks❤
Exactly what I was looking for! We just bought a home where a huge glued on mirror goes from corner to corner and down to the countertop backsplash without a centimeter to spare!
This is the best quick solution ever!
Thank you so much for this idea!! I’ve been trying to remove ours and it’s giving me anxiety. This is going to be way easier
So is the DeWalt saw and bench all under $10?? It actually would help to explain that you're talking about only the materials for us poor AF people :) The mirrors look great though and I hope you have great success with your Air BnB biz! 🙂
I wish I didn't have the clips holding my mirror to the wall! Would love to have my mirrors framed!
Just take to clips off an secure the mirror via another method. Can glue the mirror to wall or even use the framing itself to hold it up. You can sandwich the mirror between the wood frame and another piece of thin wood. Then just hang it like you would a large picture frame!
Just notch out the wood, easiest way for me when I did mine.
@@MrHipp00 Thank you I haven’t done it to the bathroom yet but there is also a large builder’s mirror the previous owners clipped up at the bottom of our stairs and it worked perfectly!
Same problem, thinking of gluing a little piece of wood or shells aver the clips to hide them.
@@ChrisColangelo My mirror is glued and has clips, so it’s safe to say that I can remove the clips
I'm interested to know what was the size of your mirror vs. what was the size of your frame. You mentioned a little bit over. Just wondering . GREAT VIDEO !!
This is exactly what I needed! Thank you so much 🙏🏽
You paid way more than $10. Just that wood costs more than that. But when you started pulling out the Minwax conditioner and stain,.. Be real
Grear job. It might look chic if you painted the frame black.
Hi there, my mirror has clips on the top and bottom holding it on, do I need to worry about those when applying the frame? will the glue adhere appropriately even if those clips don't let it lie completely flat against the surface where they are?
Good question. I am totally curious about that, too.
You can make a notch in the back of the wood
How do you deal with those clippers that are used to secure the mirror to the wall?
My question as well!!
@@sharianderson9413 im doing the same thing in about a week. i think I will just carve out a bit of wood to perfectly fit on top of plastic thing.
This is exactly what I was looking for. Yours was the first video to come up. Lucky me. Very helpful.
I specifically searched “how to frame a mirror.” This is bliss ty
You mentioned using only a few dots of glue in case you wanted to remove it later. Will it come off easily or potentially break the mirror or ruin it in some way? I’m renting and am looking for a quick update.
Thinking the same thing, wonder if we can put a piece between behind the vertical piece at the top the mirror at the left and right so there will be an extra amt to screw the top piece of wood in the wall. And use a metal brace attached it to the vertical piece at the bottom to screw them into the left and right side of the wall and then find something to cover it up
You probably don’t read these anymore, but any advice for a mirror that’s clipped on to the wall?
We just purchased a new house with 4 bathrooms containing unframed mirrors. However, they used mirror clips to hang them that stick out over the top and sides of the mirror. Any suggestions on how to do this project when the mirror surface isn't flat due to mirror clips? Thanks in advance.
New video coming on this, but I have a 1” drill bit and I just carve out a little from the back of the frame where the clips would be. It’ll look like a bowl in the back of the frame it sits flush over the clips. Or a flathead screwdriver and a hammer can be used to carve out the back.
The clips don't mess up the frame sitting properly. The clips on the mirror I am working on stick way out so the glue wouldn't work
Mine has tabs on my mirror how does everyone else not have them? How’s your mirror staying in place without the little plastic tabs that keep it in place
$10......'IF" you have $1000 invested in tools and supplies already.......$10 my ass!!!
With mirrors going for $100 and more, this is the way to go and it looks great! #Flipthishouse
Thank you! I can't wait to get started! This is definitely going to save me a lot of money!
Looks so easy but this cut was a bit challenging and the caulking definitely didn't work, Stickney, or easy to work with. I bought gorilla Fuze it and work very fast. Easy video but deceptive.
My mirror has a couple plastic clips holding the mirror on the wall, how do I work around that? Cut out the wood on the back/mirror side?
I did search for this!!!! Thank you! I hate the unframed giant builders grade mirror in my bathroom👀
For those renting, use a double sided tape but NOT the permanent one.
I have mirror brackets in the way. I'd need to cut out a notch for them....I suppose.
Yep! you just need to notch out little craters in the back of the boards to allow the wood to fit right over them. A 1/2" drill bit will work or a flat head and a hammer.
Thank you sir! This was excellent! Appreciate the positive attitude! And I specifically looked for this as well.
Thanks for making it easy to understand not a whole lot of extra talking😊
Kettell Beerworks has some nice beers! Great pairing with a mirror framing.
“Liked” for the “Mandolorian” reference/clip.
YOU DIDN'T WARN TO DO INSIDE OF WOOD, ESPECIALLY WITH DARKER SHOWS BARE IN MIRROR -- DON'T YOU SEE THAT WITH YOURS? 6:27
I came to find this too, but wondering if wood good for a bathroom mirror? What other material would work?
Exactly what I have been looking for! Thank you for the great idea!!
prestain, stain, clear coat, brush and trim all for $10?
This video is so BS. Miter Saw, Pine Wood, Stain, Poly, Glue do not add up to "How to Frame a Bathroom Mirror for Just $10". Why not be honest, or at least change the title to "How to frame a Mirror with Wood"? Btw, Have you priced Pine Wood recently?
pine wood is $6/board. so this project would costs $12 + $3 liquid nail tube. Let me change it to $15 real quick.... 🙄
Sorry i'm not including my utility bills in the costs of the project.
I searched for this specifically! Never underestimate your viewers. Thanks for the helpful video! I think I can I think I can... :)
Yes guilty 😂 looking for something to help my plain mirror lol
What if my mirror has a couple of clear clips at the top , am I ok to remove them to add the frame
Not sure if I’d get a reply. But what do do if we have an unfinished mirror and want to put it on the wall? I want to mount it just like you did. But how do I hang it on the wall? What goes behind the mirror to give it support?
Mirrors in bathrooms can be hung with cheap little mirror clips or with mirror adhesive (in the caulk aisle at the store). If you use mirror clips and want to frame the mirror, you do it the same way as the video but just carve out little holes in the back of the frame where the mirror clips are in the way.
I updated my rental with contact paper on the vanity. Painted the faucet spicket and handles black...took out the unfinished mirror and hung a framed mirror. And painted the cabinet black
I’m going to paint my faucet as well…
I don’t understand starting with 80 grit sandpaper on new wood 😳
My mirror is huge and is secured with some kind of plastic clips. How can I work around this problem?
just carve out little craters on the back of your new wood frame where the clips are by using a hammer and a flat head screwdriver. Or if you have a drill, drill out a 1/2 crater where the clips are.
I would definitely recommend putting stain on both sides of the wood so you won’t see bare wood in the reflection
This happened with our contractor. He refused to remove it and repurchase the moulding and paint on both sides. Instead he used caulk and it looks awful! Looks like a child did it
I just need to find someone to do it for me now
What about the little clips on the mirror that holds it up?
I don't think I had any of those on this mirror (mirror was probably glued to wall), but when I come across that I notch out that space behind the wood trim to fit over clips.
I just bought a $30 mirror on fb marketplace and the frame immediately fell apart 😭😭 like, in the car on the way home, one side fell off. it was crappy particle board. So now im judt gonna mount it and frame it 😍😍
Great ideia but not the real price. 😅
This is Exactly what I’m looking for my living room. My only issue I have, I don’t have an electrical saw to cut 45 degree 😢
Bro ok. Opening a beer and "This is the way" which is exactly what I'm doing. Watching Mando and drinking beer trying to frame my mirror
One question! What do you suggest to do if there are those plastic anchors on the front of the mirror
Definitely searching for this! 😂 builder grade bathrooms are the worst! Why are mirrors so expensive? 😭 I appreciate how beginner friendly this is.
What color stain was that? And what do you do if the mirror has clips?
I bet you can't do it for JUST $10 either. Bet that mitter saw cost more than $10. .
true, I also wore shoes & clothes, paid a mortgage on this home, the electric bill, health insurance, and many other things involved in this build. My exact cost to build this wooden frame is nearly $40k if you include my truck to haul the wood.
Whohooo...Happy I found you. Subscribed immediately I need some of those expensive tools though...ugh
Beautiful frame 👍
Thank you!
I dont' have the tools.
This is exactly what I searched for today in youtube. Did you leave the little screws the hold the mirror to the wall as it is and stick the wood on top of them ?
My mirror has two small plastic pieces holding it in on top, can those be removed??
I’d leave them on incase they didn’t put adhesive behind the mirror when installing. I have an updated video coming on this, but after you cut the wood to size, hold it up to your mirror and mark where the plastic clips are. Then you can notch out small craters in the back of the frame. I used a large drill bit to do some, but you can hammer a flat head screwdriver in the back or do whatever you need too to carve out a crater
I purposely was looking for this video, I’m replacing my bathroom mirror with 2 separate mirrors. The one mirror that the house came with is the one I want to frame and put in my room. No need to waste it, might as well do something great with it.
$10 for the wood but another $30 at least for the wood conditioner, stain, and polyurethane.
I was looking! When wr toured our house the 2nd time the master bathrooms ugly mirror frame (looked like left over bad bord ) fell apart 😭 I'm always looking for little things like this to enhance the houdr eithout my hubby's help.
What about mirrors that have the 2 clips at the top and bottom? The board won't lay flat. Suggestions?
Something so simple but super awesome content 👏
Had everything you want on a youtube video 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Good advice, but gonna be a bit more than $10 unless you have everything on hand.
I was searching it when I found your video, lol. How is your mirror hanging on the wall? I want to do this, but have the mirror holders all around the mirror.
Jaja not 10 dollar I just did mine and my mirror is smaller it cost me around 35 dollar with silicone, gel stain and wood board.
Hi, @Kelly Concepts. I wonder what model # of your Dewwalt saw? I thought it needs to stick on the table but I can see you can do it on the ground. that is amazing. I want one for my kitchen project. thank you.
I was EXACTLY searching for THIS!!!
What about when the clamp to hold the mirror are on there. How do you get the frame flush??
Very helpful
Exactly what I’m looking for 😂
I have been trying to figure out how to frame my bathroom mirror thanks alot for this video...
Great tutorial!! (Now we know why you told us not to watch this after we did our mirror reno video. LOL)
How was it only cost $10 if the wood alone cost a lot of money especially nowadays!😮
My mirror is held up with glass holders, how to frame it around those?
Super😁 It looks super easy and the best part, it's for only $10. I'm going to make it in black 😁
Did you do it? How much did it really cost? The stain and pre-stain will exceed $10 for sure. 🤔
My house was built in the 80’s and has mirrored walls. I could take them down but I’m thinking about framing them. My only concern is the mirror trim that was put up between the panels. Do you know how I can remove those without breaking the rest of the glass?
I was absolutely searching for specifically this haha
You make it look so easy! But the mirror has a metal frame at the bottom. How do I frame over that?
$10.00, the only way this would cost that is if you basically had everything already. If you were buying the wood, stain, or paint, paint brush, and caulk. Going to the store, gas, miter saw/ coping saw/ hand saw, square, ruler. The price could be $50, $100, or more. My mirrors are held up with mirror holders that stick out a 1/2 inch. I could make it work by drilling the wood on the back side.
yep! don't forget health insurance. you don't want to mess with power tools without coverage. Add another $200 to the mirror frame cost.
Great tips, I was watching another video and like your's the best because it does not require drilling near the mirror. I'm a beginner and the thought of drilling near the mirror could be a catastrophe.
4:20 what grit are you using when sanding between those clear coats
So great I wanna do the same for mirror I won’t do it myself but someone else will lol
Any advice for a circular mirror please?
Easiest would probably be an octagonal of hexagonal frame.
Just 10$ but you need a ton of tools, and if you don’t, it’s not 10$!!!
What is the intro and outro track if I may ask. Very nice.
How was your mirror attached to the wall initially?
I don't know how to cut it. Is there another as a straight cut?
I hate it when people take selfies in their bathroom mirrors. They literally NEVER clean the zit juice off. Hundreds of little white dots all over their mirrors. Grrr
Lmfaooo
I literally came looking for this😂
I've been looking for this for a long time!
I wish i had all those professional tools laying around.
Exactly what I needed thanks for uploading
Mirror clips? Not sure how your mirror is mounded to the wall, but if a mirror has plastic clips that screw to the wall to hold the mirror in place, it would be much more technical cutting this frame to fit.
This idea is okay for a quick look on a completely flat surface, but not feasible otherwise.
BTW.... as of July 22, 1 x 3½ finished pine boards at Home Depot are running just shy of $10 EACH for an 8' board.
Hey Holly, I've done this with mirror clips before too and wish I had that as an example here. Depending on the tools you have, you could carve out a small hole with a flat head screwdriver and hammer in the spots where those clips would be.
Is it necessary to stain if I’m going to paint the frame?
