I appreciate the amount of time and effort you put into this comparison! I have been looking at purchasing both of these brands, but since they are essentially the same, I may just choose the cheaper option. Great lightfast testing!
Thank you so very much for your comment! All I wanted is to make a useful video and help others to choose. Comments like yours really keep my spirits up and help me to continue with reviews.
I have almost all of the budget pencils except for OBOS. For those who are curious, here's what I think from experience: -Nyoni and Deli are EXCEPTIONAL, certainly dupes for Polys if you need another set or just don't want to spring for Polys. -Brutfuner 120 Square are so great to use, they don't feel like a budget pencil. They are *almost* like Prismas though not as smooth.
I really want the square Brutfuners. Heard only good things about them. Is it easy to sharpen them with a regular sharpener? I am not good with using blades for sharpening. I don't think you miss something with not having OBOS. Nyoni are like them but a little bit better :)
@@mariram Everything you've heard about the square Bruts are true - they're an incredible "budget" pencil but they don't feel or perform like one. Highly recommend them! You'll have to have a larger hole sharpener to sharpen them though. Dahle 133 works and I use that and the Faber Castell double hole.
Wow, this review was so good! I only just found your channel, I watch reviews all the time, and this one was excellent! I actually have both brand but I was interested in what other people thought. I like the think a bit better, some of the darker know I find are a it scratchy. I would also recommended deli and brutfuner squares. They are both great value for money.
Thanks! I agree with you, I also came across some pencils being scratchy and some that have speckles of different pigments in them. I won't suggest them to be used in portraiture especially for the fair skin tones. I would love to try Brutfuners! I have them in my wishlist :)
I have the nyomi pencils and love them . I had not heard of obos! I so like lots of greens and blues so am tempted..lol.I also have delis and wondered what you think of them. In my opinion, they are very similar. Thanks for the great review !
Delis are on my wishlist for sure! Though i don't know when I will order next time a big set of colored pencils. I also want the square Brutfuners. Did you try them?
Is the combination good for drawing and is it suitable for gray and brown paper? Is it good? I want to buy one. Do you advise me to buy it? Is there a difference between it and nyoni I don't see any difference between them and there is no difference at all I hope you will respond to my comment, and I will benefit greatly if you give me other information 💓🌸
I appreciate the lightfastness testing. Not that I have high expectations of lightfastness but it's good to see any sort of experimentation being done. What would the longevity based on this test be in average conditions then? I'm new to this channel, have you done a test like this for Arteza Expert? They have ratings listed so I'm wondering if what you'd find lines up with their guestimates. Thank you!
Hi, thanks for the comment! I think a drawing done with these pencils can be safely (choose uv-protective frame) hung on a wall and won't fade in many years unless you have huge windows facing south and no curtains at all. But even in this case it doesn't fade so dramatically like in the lightfastness test I did (I had the swatches attached to the window glass itself). I will be trying new products in future and will lightfast-test them. Unfortunately, I didn't yet try Arteza pencils.
@@mariram thanks for the reply! That sounds good, I didn't know they made frames like that. Right now my art doesn't get displayed on walls, but it's good to know I have options like that if I need to rely on less expensive supplies. Thank you so much for letting me know.
I don't think Nyoni produces paper. In general I know that many people choose Bristol paper. I like more textured papers personally. Strathmore has special paper for colored pencils though I haven't tried it yet. Watercolor paper in hot press is good too. You can pick some not expensive cellulose watercolor paper in 200gsm or 300gsm, it will work. Then there are many affordable paper targeted for mixed media. Good luck in finding your favorite!

@@mariram ok Thank you so much. 💚🍓Keep up your channel is great
Which brand of the two colored pencils is heavier?
I don't know why, but I like heavy colored pencils. I feel more professional using them😅
Nyoni pencil is 1g heavier than OBOS
