A Life After Now (and why it's time to let go)

  • Now more than ever, we have to learn how to let go of the past. What could a Life After Now look like?
The last few months felt like we were resting in some sort of hibernation - waking up from a bad dream slowly but surely. Only that what happened in 2020 was not a bad dream but a lesson to us as humans. What can we learn from it? How can we approach this Life After Now as a fresh start and learn how to let go of the past?

Ya know, I think I needed to hear that message. It was as beautiful as the cinematography. Thank you Nellie.

Paradox, Humor, and Change. Paradox - life is a mystery and we will never have all the answers. Humor - keep a sense of humor about things especially yourself. Change - Nothing is permanent. It's our attachment to permanence that creates or suffering. Thanks for the video. 🥂

I'm not so pessimistic as to think it will never be the same again. I believe things will be different but not so different we don't recognize it anymore. I think we will be wearing masks a little more often. I think groups will be smaller. I think there will be places that we can't go to as freely as we do now but we will still be able to go. I think we will pay more attention to what is happening around us and maybe we will lose some of that arrogance that lets us think that bad things only happen to the other guy.

Life as we knew it is gone, it is never going to return, more people than ever will work from home as commuting is going to be difficult with capacity on the buses and trains will have to be reduced by 80% to cater for social distancing. We will not be able to shake hands, hug or kiss people outside of our immediate safe bubble. Travel away from home is going to be almost impossible as any social distancing is impractical on a plane and even less so on boats, countries will introduce quarantine periods for incoming travellers in the short term that will stop the tourists.
Socialising at pubs, clubs, bars, restaurants, theatres and cinema's will return but in a limited form but not for some time.
Countries are only a few weeks into this pandemic, the full repercussions of which are still to be felt, can a vaccine be developed, can our populations be vaccinated, if you have had the virus can you catch it again, how long are the antibodies active.
So many questions on what is going to happen, so few answers. Sorry for babbling on.

Oh wow! Well said Nellie, well said. I think that they way we’ve worked and lived before this is going to be totally different after the restrictions have lifted. I’d say we will be more appreciative of what we have, & who we have. The way we do business will change. Businesses will find that they can let staff work from home from time to time, or on rotation, and they will, and have found that they are happier and more productive, so will be a win win. Happier people, happier world.

Nellie Winter I’ve tried to pinpoint it. We are just beginning to emerge from complete uncertainty and right now I can only speculate we will all become a bit more germaphobic and some ppl may forever go out less than before. Your animal analogy as spot-on. Lots of caution ahead.

What a great video Nellie and definitely flod for thought for all of us. Ì for one can not wait to get out and create!! If our period of "hybernation" has taught me anything it is that we should be grateful for what we have and make the most of every single day. Its allowed many of us time to revisit and evaluate ourselves and for me to redirect my energy and time to the things I love most.
Great job! Keep creating awesome content, both of you. Thank you.

Wow. Beautiful. I sit in my warm and safe home, surrounded by all my stuff and I have wondered what it was like for my ancestors, the anishinaabe people, when pandemics went through our communities and wiped out whole families, left survivors with nothing not even their identity as a people. When all this is over I am not going to worry so much about the stuff. I am going to celebrate my ancestors and use photography to bring the story of my people to others. And I am going to make sure my wife and I enjoy the simple daily happiness that comes with being near each other.

This is such an amazing and powerful video! I really agree that things in the future will never be the same as the past or even the present. Even if the virus never happened, things always change including the future. I have been thinking a lot lately about what I want to do moving forward. The past several weeks has made me do a lot of thinking about where to take things. Thank you for this video!

Very compelling viewing Nellie and an excellent production. Hard to see how a return to what we once knew will be possible but I believe we can overcome and adapt to a new way of life. It also serves as an opportunity to keep and build on what was the good parts of life prior to the world coming to a standstill and change those parts that weren't so good to make the future better 'norm'
