I'm a retired certified executive chef of 40 years experience. I find so many of these yt cooking videos to be pretentious and technically incorrect.
Your method is brilliant.
Very smart technique!
I truly appreciate your words of praise! I'm a simple home cook that happens to like making videos. 🙂
I'm old, been making biscuits for decades but you've taught me something here. That folding...very smart. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you! I will be folding my dough from now on. These look delicious!
Yum. This bored me to tears n I enjoy cooking. It would of been good if he had all the products pre laid out n just assembled. Pre measured his stuff etc. I've only so much time on break. This video could of been done nicely in 2 1/2 minutes.
Bet yours r good

Just made this for the girlfriend and I. Literally made both of us tear up. Reminds us both of our grandpa making biscuits before church. God bless you sir, and thanks!

Biscuits on the stovetop - who'da thunk! Now I can enjoy a biscuit without a ton of leftovers or my oven heating up my kitchen on a 90 degree August day. Thank you!!!! You are sweet and your tutorial is wonderful! ❤
I'm pleased to be of help! 🙂
Yes, who’d a thunk it.
Well they use to cook them over the campfire in a skillet. I'm going to try. Hopefully I don't burn them.

Yes, would work great! @@lisasmith5422
Beautiful biscuits for 2 people. Since it’s just me now this is the perfect recipe. My late husband and I had three sons so I was in the habit of cooking for all of us. Our sons grew up and flew the coop and my husband of 39 years lost his battle with brain cancer four years ago. Thank you for sharing your knowledge of cooking biscuits on the stovetop. I look forward to trying these

I was happy to see this recipe for one person. and glad to see biscuits can be cooked on top of the stove.I'll be making my biscuits today.
Lord bless and comfort you Lord be with you in your journey he's the shepherd he's the lover of your soul Jesus take your hand. Lead you though to he land
I'm so sorry for your loss, hon! And adjusting to cooking for one has got be difficult! My grandmother had a hard time with that as well. I hope you have grandchildren nearby to keep your days bright! And a sweet fur baby around for daily humor and love! Never fortunate enough to have children of my own -- but I've "adopted" a couple😁-- and I have my fur babies! I honestly don't know what I'd do without them or my adoptees! Went 5 years without a fur baby because I couldn't get over my previous one (I swear he was part human!)-- a Maine Coon mix that adopted me! I'm glad I have my Cinnamon -- I didn't realize how not having a little love bug around was affecting me until I got her. She wasn't socialized properly as a kitten, so she's not overly affectionate but I know she loves me (learned after a hospital stay, she slept on a pillow next to my head for days when I got home). Anyway, I've apparently drifted into Babble-on...(you'd never guess I used to be the quietest member of my family!)🥴🙃
My best to you and yours! 😊
Gotta respect a man who isnt allergic to the kitchen! Great job
Thanks for watching!
My Grannie Jackson made Skillet Biscuits! She used Crisco & buttermilk. She had a straight-sided skillet, big enough for six biscuits. She'd melt Crisco in the pan, put hand-formed biscuits in it, put a lid on it, cook over low heat until a very crisp crust formed, flip onto a plate, and slide back into the skillet to finish. As my grandfather was a bee-keeper, we grew up eating these biscuits with butter & honey. Your video recalls very fond memories!! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
I bet my square electric skillet would work then, thanks Guy. Fam of 4 needing a tad bit more room😁
Crisco is not what it use to be
I've done the same thing, since I was just a kid. I learned this from my nextdoor neighbor who baby-sat us. The folding method is new to me, though, looks great.
I also made skillet cornbread bread like this. Just replace half of the flour with cornmeal. Add sweetener or not, depending on whether you like sweet cornbread.
I use the ratio of 1 tsp of baking powder, and 1/2 tsp of salt, per cup of dry ingredients, if you're not using self-rising.
Do you use buttermilk with self-rising flour? And also still add butter. The crisco is just for making it crisp, right?
I'm so hungry now! Thanks.
My mama was a true southern cook. When she died her recipes went with her. I found out my Daddy could make biscuits like hers. He's gone too now. Your video brought back good memories.
That makes me happy to hear of your good memories!
Same thing with my mom's mom. Her recipes went with her. She made the best most perfect looking buttermilk biscuits in the cast iron skillet on the top of the stove.
I am 73 years young and never have made home style biscuits in my life. That definitely will change today. Now that I have seen you make stovetop biscuits. Thank you so much for sharing this with me and making this video. God bless and take care.
Wonderful! I'm pleased to help! 🙂
I’m your age and have made them since my teens but in the oven. You can try baking them in the oven if the pan part is difficult for you. It’s the same recipe. I think it’s 350 for 8-10 minutes but look on the baking powder can to check. Best wishes.
When my children were small, we would go to the lake as soon as they got up (early!)& I'd make this on a BBQ grill while we had the entire beach to ourselves! Breakfast on the beach was fun. Nothing like bacon, eggs, & biscuits on the sand. Thanks for bringing back a neat memory

So glad you did a stove top bake instruction for a small amount for us loners! Thanks ever so much, rest assured this will be my new go to!! ❤

Love that you're making recipes for 2. When all the kids have flown the coop it's hard to downsize your recipes for only 2 people. I always have leftovers for 3 days lol 😆
So true! Thanks for watching!
Something that helped me was using smaller saucepans and skillets. For small amounts of potato salad a baked potato or two is perfect.
Well God bless you with the love to cook use those leftovers to go and bless the community. I'm sure somebody out there would enjoy that homemade sandwich and the love of Jesus Christ
I tried these biscuits and the were so easy and so good. I only had all purpose flour but added the baking powder as instructed. I also added a pinch of salt, just because. My son and grandson loved them. I made the honey butter as well. I loved the layers. I agree with the other viewer, you are the Bob Ross of biscuit videos. Your voice is so calm and encouraging. It WAS amazing, Janet! What lovely memory... 🙋🏻♀️
We grew up with a propane tank for the gas in the house. Toward the end of the month when we had to be careful to stretch out the gas until we could get more my mother would make biscuits like this. Soooo tasty. BTW I always call that last little bitty biscuit the tasting biscuit. It's the one I get to eat while I'm finishing up cooking the rest of the meal.
Great memories!
Love it!
Me too it's the best one
My mom called it the cook’s biscuit.
I love that you actually pointed out how gentle you have to be with biscuit dough. If you're too rough with it, you have crunchy, chewy lumps. Not fun.
Also you are using the cutter in the correct way to get extra height. If you twist the cutter it seals the edge and you get less rise.
This is awesome!! Lol I don't end up with 12 biscuits when I can only eat 2🤣
Thanks for watching! You are exactly right! 🙂

I'll have to give these a try. They look delicious. My mother makes delicious pan fried "biscuits" mixing together self rising flour, milk, and enough bacon grease to give them an awesome flavor. Just mix it up, a little thicker than pancake batter, and fry. They are especially delicious with a supper meal.

And while watching this man making I got very hungry indeed, so I dropped my phone, and went to my kitchen and whipped up a batch!! And, let me tell you this, ❤ it was LOVE AT FIRST BITE!! 😂😂❤❤❤ Man, 4get all the haters and Naysayers, yes. It may be another 50 years, or more, of them doing something that they're good at, yet fooling themselves into believing that no one else can create something just as good or better than they have!!! Well done bro! ❤❤❤ A dozen thumbs up from me! Lol. 😂😂😅😅😊😊❤❤❤ And,, to the Naysayers, who seemingly have nothing better to do, let me tell you this, a recipe, any recipe, of doing anything, is simply someone's idea brought into fruition, and it can be tweaked, changed, and rearranged to suit anyone else, to their likeness and satisfaction!! TO EACH HIS OWN! ❤ BLESS UP. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate you commenting and sharing your first hand experience and enjoyment of these biscuits!
My grandmother was a southern cook. Her biscuits were addictive. And honey butter was a standard. I raised my kids with the same. I was surprised, when eating out with local groups, how many had never heard of honey butter. Maybe it was a geographic thing. But it was their loss.
✅🙂
Yup, us northerners don't know how to live... Pumpkin pie instead of sweet potatoes pie!!! Smh...
We have honey butter in California.
I love the way you cook Ken. My father taught me how to cook and watching your videos is like watching my father. We did a lot of camping because it was the only thing we could afford to do. Cooking on a camp fire was the only way we knew how to cook things. I also grew up with a fish pole in my hand. 😊 ❤️
Wonderful memories!
My parents took us camping also because it was the only thing they could afford. Eight kids on a mechanics wages and we had a blast. Every summer, every chance we got, we were at the lake. Those are some of my fondest memories.
Camping and fishing was what we could afford to do. Getting cots was really the Ritz of 🎪 camping. Got my own fishing pole and reel for my sixth Christmas gift from Grandpa. Thought I hit the big time
then. Caught a LOT of fish with it too.
My sister and i thought "vacation" actually meant when everybody went on their annual fishing trip, either camping or to a little rental cabin on the lake $5 a night with rowboat!
I love that you take your time to teach us
Thank you for explaining everything to someone who never has done cooking before
It's my pleasure. 🙂
During the quarantine phase, I actually started my attempt on baking. 😂 it was a drama series for sure. But now I can confidently say I can bake breads. Just bread, no cake, no cookies, and no biscuits. 😂😂😂😂 I will have to try your recipe. ❤❤❤❤❤

Thank you so much for all the recipes. Especially those for those of us that don't have a big household!
You are very welcome!
I agree! This is perfect for my husband and I.
Thank you so much for this video! Although I love making biscuits, they don't always rise up quite enough to suit me. After I watched the folding method you use here, I had to give it a try. Now, I still used my traditional old Cat-head Biscuit recipe and I baked them in the oven but this time the difference was the way I handled the dough--those biscuits they rose up three times higher than the last time I used the same recipe! The best ever. From now on, I'm folding the dough the Ken Click way. 😃
I'm glad to be of help! ✅
Thank you Ken for teaching us old gals how to make great biscuits♥️
A lot of bread type items if you over mix or over kneed them it can make them tough and not rise correctly. Just like cake recipes when it says fold in your egg whites, it means barely mix them in.
I will have to try your recipe for our office potluck.. we’re having a breakfast bar, and I chose to make fresh biscuits and country gravy with turkey sausage. Found this video a couple days ago and currently making them right now, excited for them to be done! It smells wonderful in here, thank you for the recipe!

I've been taught that the best way to cook biscuits on top of the stove is to use a cast iron skillet with a lid.
You heat both lid and skillet, until its almost smoking, add butter or oil, enough so it's about an eighth to quarter inch deep, allow to get hot, swirl around skillet, dump excess out, then place biscuits in skillet cover with lid, lower heat and allow to cook 5 minutes before you raise lid to check doneness, replace lid wait few minutes, check again.
When golden brown remove and enjoy
I'm glad to have the chance to show you a slightly different way to make them.
Essentially, the skillet turns into a Dutch oven.
Thank you! All my skillets are cast iron. This is perfect, thank you! 🌹
