“God forbid if I was wearing shorts with no socks” 😂😂😂 I too am wary of such fashions!
During the zombie apocalypse he'll be wearing his impeccably shined Dominic Casey bespoke shoes, while running away from flesh-eating undeads.
🤣🤣🤣
Well, his first Zombie Apocalypse choice was the Nike Betsy Ross, but that option vanished.
5:00 Kirby is so serious and funny at the same time
Serious business here. hahaha.
Kirby’s torture, I mean, survival guide in a desert island.
1) Leave waterproof chukka w/ crepe sole in favor of 5 fine dress shoes
2) Bring formal attire for fancy cocktail party instead of survival attire and supplies.
Great video, mr Allison. Those sunglasses from the thumbnail looked great. Haha
Haha. You like those? Coming to HangerProject.com soon...
When he pulled out the second pair of shoes I was certain that this video was posted on April 1st... 😎
When my wife and I travel to Bali I pack sneakers, flip flops, running shoes, and for dress Gucci Jordan’s
Cheers
Doc
I don't think I laughed so much from one of your videos. Very tongue-in-cheek. Loved it!
Everyone else: "Does anybody know how to make seawater drinkable?"
Kirby: Tells Vladimir, the Reindeer-shoe a joke.
This is by far the weirdest video you've ever done.
Please do more like this. Thank you for your service.
What's the correct shoe to wear when talking to a volleyball?
kirby has become mad ...he'll sleep with his shoes one day...
Nice list, and I can't really argue but I will put in my 2 cents.
That black cap toe oxford. It seems to tick a lot of the same boxes as the black semi brogue, which, IMO, is the more versatile shoe.
I have a pair of black captoe oxfords. It is the shoe I got married in 22 years ago and it is still in decent shape. But I seldom wear it even though I wear a suit at least 3 times per week.
IMO, the black captoe oxford is not the most versatile shoe anymore. It is a shoe reserved for very dressy occasions. When I wear black shoes, I mostly pick either my singlle monstraps, or a brogue or semi brogue, preferably a blucher to tone down the severity of the black color.
I would go so far as to say that unless you live in New York, or London AND are in a field like banking, that you might never need a black captoe oxford.
I’m in law in California and would still pick the black cap toe Oxford over most anything else. It doesn’t stand out or make waves but gets the job done.
How would a mirror gloss work with sea water...
Another great video! This was my question from the Cleverley video... well done! I also like your selections. Keep up the great content. Steve
I love that he's having fun w this video! Not usual of mr allison.
The shades of blue you're wearing look fantastic.
What is your next bespoke project going to be? (Suit, shirt, shoe?) I would love to see you getting a bespoke tie. There are good companies in Italy for that.
Thurston Howell would approve of this selection
Indeed he would! An inspiration to us all!
I like the reindeer ones. They look different but at the same time strangely familiar. Timeless!
Beautiful shoes indeed but I wouldn’t take 2 pairs of black shoes.
Absolutely hilarious video, Kirby. Love the sense of humor. Same question for the follow up video: which 5 suits would Kirby bring along for those elegant island Luaus? 😂
It would be hilarious if I met Kirby out on the street and he’s wearing an oversized dry-fit shirt and crocs with white socks.
Really enjoyed the video!!! Keep it up.
I have a question Mr. Allison could you do a video on care and maintenance of perforated and woven leather shoes? I live in a warm environment, I was thinking these would cool fashionable option; I am afraid if I shampoo and polish my standard way I will damage or degrade the shoe or it’s internals. Thanks in advance.
Great video!
Which shoes would go best with a brown loincloth?
Wow, those shoes are beautiful!
Loved the video, very entertaining. Those Russian reindeer are especially fantastic. Only one comment for me, black cap-toe oxfords are not that versatile. Even though I work in NYC, the broad shift to ‘casualization’ makes your other 4 or 5 much more versatile. Keep up the fun themes!
Totaly agree.
I thought...Kirby you would pick the black Opera. But, I can't argue with your choice. Two thumbs up.
Hello Kirby, i'm a 15 year old teenager living in a very rural setting in england and i love classic etiquette, style, and i adore a gentlemans wardrobe. However i have no idea how to persue my passion without standing out too much and looking too over the top, for a young student? Any tips or advice would be greaty appreciated. Thank you
Very original video Kirby, my honest congratulations
Thank you! We had fun filming this video!
Mr Allison your videos are getting much more fun to watch..
Do you plan to carry that pocket square? It’s not on the website and hasn’t been for some time.
Amazing thumbnail!! Though surely no need for shoes on a desert island! Or perhaps, five pairs of flip flops 😜
Castaway staring Kirby Allison. That’s something I’d pay to see in theaters.
Kirby what are your thoughts on linen as posed to cotton in hot weather. I find it feels great and cool. It's what Arabs wear in the desert.
Linen is probably too causal under the requisite 3-piece heavy worsted wool suit from Huntsman. One way to beat the heat is a wonderful pair of bespoke George Cleverly loafers that hug the foot for maximum aeration. Pair with a nice lightweight silk tie to really beat the heat.
Hi Kirby what brand is your chukka boots?
I love the way this guy dresses but I don’t have a lot of money. I wish I could afford this. Very cool. One day maybe I hope
Timely video for me because I currently have a choice between shoes and custom suit. I will be taking a very important trip to Europe with my partner in October (she and I have been together 7 years). I have a choice between having a custom (mtm) suit made for that trip, or, for the exact same amount of money, I can put down a deposit for a pair of bespoke shoes from Ramon Cuberta once we arrive in Spain (it would be my first bespoke item). Anyone have any advice?
That thumbnail 😂👍
Lmao, I started this video thinking "Kirby is really picking dress shoes for a deserted island scenario? How impractical" but the self-aware jokes got me. "Of course if I was stranded on a deserted island I'd still be dressing formally. We'd have formal luaus."
Love it.
Crocs might outperform the semi-brogues, just saying
I love spectators, so I would have the following:
Brown & white buckskins from AE
My only bespoke shoe, a G&G brown cap toe
Brown & linen AE;
Brown drivers from AE
A MTO from G&G Black & black suede cap toe from
Yes! Must have spectators! If you're going to have a desert island party it has to be a Gatsby party, which means specs. Also, Nucky wears specs as he walks on the beach in the Boardwalk Empire credits, so obviously they're proper for beachwear (with a bespoke Martin Greenfield suit and a hand-stitched Homburg, of course).
Kirby, is the tie you are wearing in the video on your webstore yet? Sorry to change up the topic. I love the blue and yellow.

It is most likly is this one for $125:

Dessert island or at home, these 5 shoes can be considered to be part of a great capsule collection, although if on a dessert island, I hope you bring lots of Renovateur!
If Kirby ever took the naked and afraid challenge, I'm pretty sure the only tool he'd take would be a bespoke shoe.
I was expecting to learn about some bespoke Croc sandal action. Disappointing 😋
How do you feel about Crocket and Jones ? Last no. 348; is the 007 a gimmick?
Looking stylish as usual Kirby.
Got a question, when your laying around the house with the wife and kids on Saturday am. Do you dress that well as in the videos?
Thank for sharing the videos your easier to listen to than The Gentleman’s Gizzard
LOL
You bring up a great point. Next to clothing moths, children are perhaps the greatest threat to one's wardrobe. So, the first thing I do when I come home from work is change out of my nicer clothes. That said, I do generally always wear a nice, casual button-up dress shirt with a pair of jeans or, if the situation calls for it, shorts. Very, very rarely am I in a t-shirt. And I prefer an old pair of casual loafers to sandals or tennis shoes. These small modifications can greatly increase how one looks even when the environment requires a more casual look.
“...children the greatest threat...” LOL
I agreed with your last comments. I too try my best to keep a gentleman like appearance in my choice of clothing no matter who is present.
I wear a suit and tie 80% of the time. Weather in a business setting or socially. Coat and slacks 15%, and workout clothes or sleep wear the other 5%.Never seen in a t-shirt most relaxed I wear is a loose fitting Polo shirt.
Thanks my Friend
I enjoyed the video but I would fear for how long you'd last Kirby! :P
Amazing thumbnail
If I was on a desert island stranded I’d hope I was wearing a crepe or danite sole chukka boot or a loafer like the 623.
I would defenitly whant chuckas, suede shoes and a boat in my top 6:
#1 chelsea black dressy plain
#2 chucka brown dressy plain
#3 oxford suede darkbrown
#4 white sneeker
#5 oxbloodish split norway toe.
#6 full wingtip midbrown oxford like AE.
I am not that formal!
Hello Kirby. I would like ask a question. I have been watching your UA-cam postings on a regular basis. In this video you mentioned that you have about 15 bespoke shoes. On another video you said that one of the bespoke shoes you had cost about $4,000. So if I take an average of say, $2500 per pair, that's about $37,500 in just your bespoke shoes. What I was wondering is do the shoemakers give you those shoes in return for reviews on your channel or, do you buy them out iof your own pocket, or do you have your business buy them for you? Thanks for answering. - Len
The average price is much higher than that, and I don't think he pays them from his own money, but through Hanger Project.
Anonymus0927 so if true then buying from Hanger Project simply keeps him in very expensive clothing and shoes and trips to London.
I’m not sure the brogue detail would aid with drainage anymore. These days it is purely a decorative feature. In years long gone by, they were real holes that let water in as well as out. If your boat was sinking, would you make sure your wife and kids or your bespoke shoes were safe first ?
you mean if you where stranded on a fancy resort hotel with floors ;)
You sir, are a funny man!
Something to help me remind home- smells his shoes. Better the shoes than smelling the socks I guess
on a dessert island you just need Keens and maybe a pair of sandals or flip flops
Nice tie, from you line?
Sure is. From our new Permanent Collection of Sovereign Grade Ties!
Not in my budget range for ties, but I am willing to accept a free sample for research purposes :)
I wouldn’t want to bring a fine dress shoe in a deserted island.
No? Why not? The Skipper always had his hat and nice polo shirt.
The skipper? Pretty sure the millionaire would look like a hobo next to you.
Kirby Allison,
1) in rough/uneven terrain the outsole will be worn out in no time,
2) in the sun or rain w/o shoe care products the upper will not last long,
3) in a suit & dress shoes you would be over dressed and would be inappropriate for the climate/terrain. Pretty sure those dress shoes would not have the proper grip especially on wet terrain.
Figuratively speaking, I'd bring none of these to an island. If I needed 5 dress(ier) shoes :
1. Black: wholecut Oxfords
2. Dark brown: cap toe Oxfords
3. Burgundy: Wingtipss with brogue
4. Light brown: double Monk straps
5. Brown: Penny Loafers.
Second
Kirby I will take a pair of flip flops
Haha 😂 not sure what kind of island he is planning on being “stranded” at 😂 definitely not the 5 shoes that I was expecting!
:)
First
Oh kirby, you don't have to use the desert island as an excuse to talk about your shoes. You can talk about shoes all day long you silly man!
I find this very limiting: on a typical day, unless travelling, I change my footwear two or three times and never wear the same shoes on consecutive days. I would be very sorry not to have a pair of button Balmoral boots, grosgrain bow evening pumps, and canvas Oxfords. Imagine if you were invited to a dinner party by a local tribe of cannibals and went improperly shod. At least coconut husk can be used to buff up a good shine and pineapple does a good job of cleaning and conditioning soles.
This is just your best shoes. Not for survival.
I think your shoes should have women's names,... Kind of obvious the reasons why
I am disappointed!!! What do you recommend for flip flops?
Ed Gregory haha, he doesn’t.

In a dessert island you have to be barefoot, you snob!!!!
What about yeezys?
What is he smoking
Bit of an odd title. I mean, you didn’t have to make it a desert island situation. I know, it adds a bit of comedy value, talking to Vladimir the shoe and all. If you were on a desert island, the only appropriate footwear would be the Ryder Desert boots. Maybe just call it 5 pairs of shoes that you couldn’t do without or whatever.
