      I’ve got a pair and it’s very easy if you’re very careful and have done in a few times. Don’t go overboard with it and polish unless you have to, otherwise you run more risk.

    Just what I was looking for. I purchased a pair of spectator, brown/white, penny loafers and needed to know how to keep the white leather clean and bright. Thanks Kirby.

    The problems of shining elephant boots. This channel has jumped the shark.

    [Spectator Shoes]: Would covering the white with masking/blue painter's tape or saran wrap work?🤷🏻‍♂️

      @EddyWoon 3 роки тому

      I was thinking the same thing f using the masking tape or... maybe line the edges with bluetac?

    What is responsibly sourced elephant? Does someone follow an elephant until it expires of old age?

    anyway, thanks for the video Kirby.
    Got a pair of two-tone boots by Nicks.
    And planning to expand my boot collection, so really interested to know more about 'pebble grain' leathers. Good info.
    Cheers from Malaysia. 😁👍

    Brilliant video which I found very helpful, Kirby. I don’t have cowboy boots (I doubt many Brits do) but I do have some R M Williams kangaroo Chelsea boots and a separate pair of their chinchilla patina Chelseas which I now know how to shine. Might be worth you reviewing that Australian brand - recently rescued, incredibly comfortable and good value.

    Is the framerate very low or is it just my machine? Love the content as always. I will likely never own a pair of elephant boots but it's interesting to expand your horizon a bit.

    Btw Kirby, have you ever tried horse hair shaving brushes? I could imagine it being nice but never tried one. I suppose it would feel somewhere inbetween badger and boar brushes.

    Hello Kirby, any additional tips for a pair of spectators where the lighter part is a cream canvas? I use the pigmented cream on the darker part, but not sure how to care for the canvas part - perhaps using the suede shampoo same as for your suede/calf cap toes?

    Apart from being in terrible taste, the elephant hide surely is not meant to be shined.

    Not an animal rights activist or anything but responsibly sourced elephant skin... hope they take that from naturally passed away elephants because that skin isn't coming from the meat industry.

    I would argue that if you are putting a mirror shine on pebble grain, you've defeated the purpose of both.

    Plenty of horror stories of renovateur stripping a patina! Soo.... nope!

    • @kirbyallison
      @kirbyallison  3 роки тому

      Which is really surprising, considering that the Renovateur is water based. If a water based polish affects a patina, what would a solvent based one like a neutral cream polish do?!? I think that when people use a pigmented cream polish, they simply aren’t seeing the effect.

    • @rimaarts
      @rimaarts 3 роки тому +2

      I don't know... me personally I hate renovateur because it leaves some kind of residue I find super hard to brush off, unlike cream... and that's even when I use very very little! I'm about to give purepolish conditioner a try!
      sidenote.. any tips on keeping wax off the broguing? I always end up picking it out with toothpick when doing a mirror shine on medallion toe...
