I laughed a little when you mentioned Crocs. I was an Operating Room Nurse for 31 years. We wore Crocs in the O.R. strictly for hygienic reasons. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing these in any other environment.

I still remember how in the 90's boat shoes became a fashion trend among teenagers and young people. As a rather preppy guy who loves the summer months, I adored this video! I have a pair of woven leather slipper-style shoes coming from Ace Marks (as well as some Gucci-esque loafers) that I can't wait to pair with white chinos. I'm a big men's shoe fan, and I believe they are what women notice most about a man's outfit.

It seems like a lot of people are railing against boat shoes. I think that the colorful ones look fine with shorts. I have a gray pair with sporty blue trim and a tan pair. Both are fine with shorts, although the tan pair are boring. The tan pair are also old, so I'm replacing them with some white minimalist leather sneakers. I'll wear the sneakers or loafers with chinos or jeans, when I want to wear pants in casual, warm-weather settings.
But everyone should wear what they want to wear (within reason, of course). And we generally shouldn't get bent out of shape over what other people choose to wear.

I first wore boat shoes in 1980 among the surfing culture on the west coast. Sperry had made the first ones in 1935. People like the Hobie scene used them on their boats which I was part of. These loafers and boat shoes are inspired by the American Indian moccasin. The hard bottoms I believe came from Europe made it into American sailing culture. You can watch old videos of the Kennedy family on their boats wearing them, which probably really helped Sperry.
. Flip flops are stylish around swimming pools, the gym some water sports, since they are easily removed and are usually rubber to withstand water. It's more or less a lounging footwear. Not to nitpick, you did a fine job here and I learned a lot, like I always do with your advice.

By going back to the beginning? Puma Suedes and Puma Clydes have a classic profile, and a rich history in sports and pop culture, yet are accessible to any casual outfit, given the colour range. Or maybe the Adidas Superstar, for another good hearted casual comment.
In the higher range, fashion sneakers like Common Projects and the like.

I am not a fan of boat shoes at all. But some of these other options are great. I have an issue finding loafers that arent as clunky. I prefer a more sleek, Italian style to my shoes. More like magnanni or Ferragamo. Less like Allen edmonds. I'll have to keep looking around. Right now the only pair of loafers I have is a black magnanni loafer that I received as a gift. They work really well with dark suits but don't work very well in casual situations in my opinion. I've also been skeptical of suede in the summer. I always thought suede was a winter material unless it came in lighter colors.

It's rare I disagree with GG but those leather sandals are absolutely classic and stylish. They are what my father would have worn on the beach or with shorts in the 1950s or 60s. I really can't understand how there can be the slightest argument that they are classic and very Gentleman's Gazette!!

It concerns me with "no show socks" in stores like Wal-Mart where the image on the outside look just like low cut socks. It makes it difficult to want to purchase if they are just like the cartoon-image on the bag, matching the low cuts

A decent pair of Sperry Topsiders is really hard to go wrong with and if you have a couple of pairs I think you're really ready for any possible beach or Summer event...

Very nice video! Can you make a video about late 19th century suits, about their typical styles and accessoirs and also, how to implement such a style into a modern outfit without an appearance completely out of time.

I will alternate between my boat shoes and my penny loafers many days throughout the week. Been wearing it for 15 years and I still Rock with them even till now. Super comfortable and very versatile if you know how to style it correctly.

As a med student I only accept wearing crocs in hospital while on shift, but my classmates wear them as change shoes for classes since year one. And majority of them dresses in smart style. So they are academics on top and kindergartners on bottom.

I've been trying to expand my summer shoe collection - currently I have some spectators, some blue boat shoes, low-top Converses, some slip-on canvas shoes, and I just got a pair of fisherman's sandals. Some espadrilles are next!

I used to wear crocs for bathrooms thinking that they are rubber and skid proof, but they are so bad that they gave me sores on the foot......not usable even there.

Kyle the belt you are wearing is too long you need to trim the length. I believe this was done on purpose as an Easter Egg to see if someone would notice.

Biggest takeaway here for me is that Sperry raised their prices so high in one year. Some of their $56 shoes are now $96
