Preston Reed in Mendocino

In 2011 I had great fun getting to know the great fingerstyist as he visited California. Preston stayed with us in Mendocino for a few nights. I got out the "studio" lights for a portrait session and he played as I shot. A quick trip out to the Mendocino Headlands before a show in Caspar. Next we were off to the Fox in Redwood City, Ca.

Preston is a brilliantly inventive guitarist and a very lovely guy as well. I've been to several of his shows in Edinburgh over the years.

I saw him at Mutiel Andersons All Star Guitar Night at the NAMMM show many years ago. Watching him and Tommy Emmanuel play off each others style. Shortly Tommy was almost outdoing Preston at the percussive tapping. Preston tried to mimic some Tommy licks, and had fun. Preston was best in his own element, Tommy was on fire that night and in a tasteful but powerful way among a long list of GREAT musicuans at the event, was unequaled.
