The Redwood Forest? I think is a State Forest, Off the beaten path of public noisy National Parks, Is as you say. Spooky. But beautiful. You almost expect a wild animal to pop up.
Its really amazing to see all these trees have gone through and fought through so many valcanos , tsunami, and other nature disasters and still standing proudly......kudos to them and I wish we will many and many ancient trees like this further future.......

When I went to Sequoia National Forest I absolutely tripped out. The entire forest has these trees growing in it. It's like a prehistoric fairy tale forest. I got out and hiked to different big trees and you can even walk inside them. Don't lean against these trees to take pictures or whatever reason. I learned the hard way they are covered in these tiny spines that will make you itch severely. I did read later that they were covered in these little needles. Everywhere my body touched was itching for days.
Can you imagine the traffic of humans continuously leaning against the tree trunks? Leaving human footprints on them? The needles from the furry like bark are for protection
its just amazing to imagine, how small this now mighty tree once has to have been.... absolutely astonishing to go back in time in your head and picture all that passed by this giant
I visited the "Big Cedar Tree," as the sign read, many times when I was young. It was/is amazingly large and spectacular to behold. I was deeply saddened in 2016 when it broke during a storm. Between it and the Tree of Life above the grotto on the coast, where my family and I camped every summer for many years, my two favourite trees are both on the same stretch of highway.
I grew up in California & now live in the east coast I married a guy who loves trees. When we went back to visit my family, I showed him the General Sherman tree. He was blown away. So glad it’s still healthy & strong.
I'm so happy for the internet, I'd love to go to all these places myself that I see but I can't so it feels like the internet is giving me the chance to do that
If you can ever go to the Redwood Forest, you will never forget it. Some of my favorite memories growing up and as a parent taking my own kids, we’re visiting the Redwoods.
Majestic and magnificent trees... it takes thousands of years to grow and only 5 minutes to ruthlessly cut them down. Humans are only creatures on this planet to cut the trees, make paper from them and then write "Save The Trees On It."
You actually think we make paper out of old growth trees? Lol!! I guess you don't know anything about pulpwood trees (trees used for paper production). Or the fact that they are a planted crop. If you use less paper, the farmers plant fewer pulpwood trees. Using less paper in order to "save trees" is the same as eating less corn to "save corn plants". It is stupid, and accomplishes nothing whatsoever.
Not sure what makes us feel so awestruck when seeing these trees. But I feel the same way as others. That you almost feel you need to bow to their greatness. To all they have been witnesses to in the world. And that they are a super being of this world. For me personally, I feel more connected to mother nature. To the planet. And I have a great admiration and love of trees. If I ever buy another home, I will pick one that is an older home, with old growth tree around it...
I think people sometimes don’t fully understand that Trees are singular living entities, and it’s utterly insane how they get so big and sustain themselves.

When I was about 8, dad gave me my first encyclopedic and when I opened it the first photo I saw was the Sequoya tree, the biggest tree in the world and I thought one day I would be there. When I turned 40 after moving to Australia (from Chile) I decided it was the right time to make that dream true and I drove from LA to Sequoya National Park and met General Sherman. Now I'm 43 and never forgot it's name :). PD: They missed the Alerce, one of the tallest in the world and aged about 3000 years :)

When these magnificent trees die, no future generations will ever witness trees like this again. Trees will be harvested & logged before they reach these heights.
Well that might actually change If humanity would stop spreading it self everywhere and just focus on small areas, maybe the size of a country where they could just build a city in an unbeiliveble size and just let nature keep the rest of the world mostly, we would then again begin seeing big trees again
Shintoism of Japan should be the only religion to survive after the Corona virus will destroy all religious traditions and eventually render insignificance to their anti nature dogma of pain and destruction. Shintoism is Nature Worship. Which is why Japan is so beautiful.

One of my favourite places on earth is the Cathedral Forest on Vancouver Island, just off the highway between Victoria and a Nanaimo (I think... I live my whole life in Toronto, and while I get out there as often as I can, I can’t remember what highway it’s off of). Just stand in that forest puts everything in life in perspective. You look up and as far as you can see, there is nothing but branches needles and leaves, it’s truly natures greatest creation, and given how many there are, it makes you feel somewhat insignificant, yet at the same time makes you feel wonderful, it’s hard to put into words how it makes you feel, But if ever you’re in the area, I highly recommend visiting the cathedral forest, I believe they even run bus tours of it. Trust me, you’ll be so glad you went, you won’t want to leave, if I didn’t have so many health problems, I’d move out there in a heartbeat, it’s just too beautiful!
Peter Davis that it, thanks! My sister and I flew to Vancouver, rented a car, and drove all over British Columbia and Vancouver Island, we stayed at a hotel on Vancouver Island after visiting the cathedral florist called Tin Wis, and absolutely stunning hotel on a private beach overlooking the ocean. I actually went there to meet my biological mother, I knew I was adopted, but never had any desire really to contact them, until they contacted me. I couldn’t pass by the chance to at least meet her once, so my wonderful sister, knowing that I was somewhat hesitant and nervous, came with me, so we made a road trip of our adventure. Meeting my biological mother was the highlight of the trip, or so I thought, until we begin driving through the province and seeing the spectacular beauty that lies within it. I absolutely fell in love with British Columbia. As I mentioned previously, I spent my entire life here in Toronto, but the topography of the city, and of the area surrounding it, it’s pretty much flat as a pancake, and has no real geological wonders, aside from Niagara Falls and the Niagara escarpment. So when I had the chance to drive all across British Columbia, and discovered just how beautiful it is, I truly did not want to go back to Toronto. I’ve always been an avid nature lover, and while my province, Ontario, it’s beautiful in its own right, it pales in comparison to the majesty of the Rocky Mountains and the vast forests of giant redwoods, lush greenery, magnificent waterfalls, and everything else nature has to offer. I honestly wish I could afford to move there, but unfortunately because of my ill health, I’m forced to stay here in Toronto. Long long long story short, from the age of 20 up until now that I’m 49, I’ve had 34 absolutely brutal gastrointestinal operations due to Crohn’s disease and intestinal cancer. As a side effect I developed 11 chronic and often debilitating illnesses, and while I look perfectly healthy, I’m clinically fully disabled, was forced to quit my job at the age of 46 and go on permanent long-term disability, so my choices are extremely limited. I thank God I survived, because I was not supposed to, having only a 5% chance several times. I’m actually about to go for surgery number 35 and 36 over the next couple of months, but I will be damned if I allow my health to stop me from doing the things that I love. My first trip out there, I had just had a 14 hour surgery after my intestine, my entire large intestine to be exact, ruptured, killing me for two minutes. Luckily I was in the hospital when it happened, and they were able to bring me back to life. I was in a lot of pain, but just bearing witness to natures stunning beauty is probably the best therapy both physical and psychological, that I could’ve ever hoped for, and made me, if only for a few weeks, forget about all my problems. I’ve been to British Columbia many times now, and now that I have family there, I have even more reason to go, the only thing preventing me from going more often is the money. As any Canadian will tell you, it costs a fortune to travel within our own country, I could fly to the tropics or to Europe and stay for two weeks with hotel and food covered for the price I pay just for the airfare to fly out to Vancouver and back. Canadians are well known for travel, but because of what I’ve mentioned, so if you ever travel within their own borders, and see just how beautiful our country truly is. So if ever you get the chance, I highly recommend exploring your own country, there is so much beauty out there to see if that would make the tropics look boring in comparison. If you want to save money, the best time to go is just before summer, or just at the beginning of fall, when tourism is not so busy, So the fares for flight and hotel are cheaper. The one thing I really want to do is fly to Calgary, Rent-A-Car and drive to the Rocky Mountains to Vancouver. Apparently it’s one of the most beautiful drives literally on the planet, I only hope I get the chance to do it before I die.
@@GIguy I hope all your dreams and aspirations come to fruition. By the sounds of it, you've been dealt a raw deal in life. Crohns is pure torture, so I've heard. Roots go the same depth as the height of the plant, because roots are more important for balance and nutrition. And the plant only grows in height if the amount of sunlight is higher than the amount of nutrition from roots.
Roots do not go deep they go wide. Look at any uprooted tree in the forest whether an alder, fir, hemlock or redwood. Tap roots go deeper searching for water but the majority are on or near the surface like a mat where the rich nutrients of the forest floor are available for growth.
Seeing a redwood tree in real life is better than a UA-cam video of it. They are a magnificent tree, humorous in girth and height. Seeing is believing. Thanks for the video post and best of luck 🍀👍🏼

I once came across this tree on the southern part island of Ilha Grande, Brazil. I've seen large redwood trees but this was something different, as if you could feel a special energy radiating from it when you were near it. Simply magical. We have to do everything in our power to protect these ecosystems of life.
Sad part of this is that there were even larger and older trees cut down
Yeah, humans are good at that kind of shit. Not just that, but these giant trees DON'T make good lumber, and it wrecked the surrounding areas, too. Sad.

I live near the redwood. I love my state.

Majestic and magnificent trees... it takes thousands of years to grow and only 5 minutes to ruthlessly cut them down.
Humans are only creatures on this planet to cut the trees, make paper from them and then write "Save The Trees On It."
"Save the trees" on it.
Instead write Save trees on trees rather, it will be a good idea
You actually think we make paper out of old growth trees? Lol!!
I guess you don't know anything about pulpwood trees (trees used for paper production). Or the fact that they are a planted crop. If you use less paper, the farmers plant fewer pulpwood trees.
Using less paper in order to "save trees" is the same as eating less corn to "save corn plants". It is stupid, and accomplishes nothing whatsoever.
I get you point, but it would take a BIT longer than five minutes

Not sure what makes us feel so awestruck when seeing these trees. But I feel the same way as others. That you almost feel you need to bow to their greatness. To all they have been witnesses to in the world. And that they are a super being of this world.
For me personally, I feel more connected to mother nature. To the planet. And I have a great admiration and love of trees. If I ever buy another home, I will pick one that is an older home, with old growth tree around it...

When I was about 8, dad gave me my first encyclopedic and when I opened it the first photo I saw was the Sequoya tree, the biggest tree in the world and I thought one day I would be there.
Tofino
Not Tofino, its in between Port Alberni and Coombs on highway #4, just west of Cameron Lake
“That's what!” - She
Roots go the same depth as the height of the plant, because roots are more important for balance and nutrition.
The tap root grows straight down into the ground and the roots that grow off of it grow outwards and spread out wide and far
Seeing a redwood tree in real life is better than a UA-cam video of it. They are a magnificent tree, humorous in girth and height. Seeing is believing. Thanks for the video post and best of luck 🍀👍🏼
