Hi Everybody! The late, great Dr. John used this lick all the time. So do just about all Blues, R and B, Rock and Roll, Jazz (I've heard Oscar Peterson use it a bunch in various keys, by the way) Gospel and Boogie Woogie artists. I can't wait for you to get it!

spent the morning watching the Flint Long boogie woogie tutorials and learned some cool stuff. One of my fav, gigs was the one in Oceanside by home depot corner of I-5& 78. forgot the club name . With you (Flint Long) Fran Carl Christ Bo Wade and Kathy Kellog , JR JR, mad dog and Gary Johnson.
I played with George "harmonica" Smith. Kim came and sat in . It was the best hour of blues harp playing , singing and showmanship anyone could ask for. Later played with Kim again at Mr Peet's memorial. Glad to reconnct with you again. Flint Long always played the way I love to hear a piano sound in both supporting and lead role. So listen and learn! BTW Im the only guy that can play that lick on piano AND guitar hee he

I can't remember the name of the club, although it may come to me. They used to feature a "dirty dance contest." Which was always remarkable. I backed up the Coasters there one time when their organist suddenly took ill. I used his B-3, it was all set up. I'm not an organist, but I sometimes enjoy playing one. I have to get someone in the know to set up the stops for me! I played there with Kim, and also hear LeGassic (was it Randy or Steve LeGassic) with Kim one time. Great piano player. There were so many great players around then, you and I among them! Haha. I love that the blues was so popular maintstream back there in the sixties and seventies.

@@slimperu1 I'm not exactly sure what you mean. I'm not a Dr. John expert. But if you can point me to a UA-cam video that shows him doing it, I'll definitely shed some light on what he's doing for you.

@@flintlong2937 I was kinda joking because Mac's hands were so huge he could do a walking bass line with his last 3 three finger and hit 3rd or sometimes a 4th interval (maj or min)
      with his thumb and pointer
I saw a tutorial mac put out he was rediculous " just do this" he'd say
Like micheal jordan taking off from the free throw line and staying airborne for the 15 feet
And sill be high enough to slam dunk a basket ball over a 10 ft rim. Just
      do this ha

You got it, Steve! Huey "Piano" Smith. He might have been one of the first to use this priceless lick. I had to have a guy show it to me, because I was trying to figure it out with my thumb on C and not G. LOL. That was many years ago!
