When i seal my dreads (use the iron method rn) there are parts of the dreads that seal perfectly, but also some parts that unravel, any advice on that?
Sounds like you need to use a bit more water in your towel - the unraveling happens when we don't get enough heat to the core. Using enough water makes the iron force steam through to the center. :)
How much hair would you say is needed for an entire head of dreads? I just bought 10 packs of hair, but my friend told me if need 18 - 20 packs. I think that's a little exessive? Will 10 packs be enough?
Generally, you can get about 7 average size DE dreads out of a pack. Depending on your style, 10 packs might be perfect. I would think 18 to 20 is a bit much - that would be a very very full style and quite heavy if you used all of them.
Doctored Locks thank you for your response. One more question, I actually just got the hair today and noticed that 2 packs are toyokalon. Will that work? It says heat resistant. Will I just have to be more persistent or will it not work? I was going to use the steam technique
It will require much higher heat. I have had okay results with iron-steam methods, but it's not easy. You may have best luck with using a crochet method for those. Next time, try using Doctored Locks Smooth Seal or only kanekalon and you'll have a much easier time. If nothing else, you will be able to see the difference in how fibers respond. It's always good to know. Toyokalon isnt impossible, just harder. If you get stuck, just hit me up. :)
Aww, thank you. We do it for you guys!
These were a heavy chemical rubber glove. Thicker than standard dish gloves, but readily available at most stores.
Thank you very much for your advice! your videos are great!

Would you also boil the braided dreadlocks?
It will relax and create shape for any dreadlock style.
can you use this method to Reseal them?
What gloves do you have? xx
will i be able to use this pot again for eating ?
Yes you can, just wash it after use :)
How can this be done with DE?
Absolutely!
Should brand new dreads out of package be boiled? Or is this for locks to be reused?
You can definitely boil your new dreads! It will help soften them up a bit before you install them.
@@doctoredlocks even synthetic ones? Thanks for the reply
Yep, you can totally dip your synthetic dreads in freshly boiled water and it will work just fine! :)
How can I stop my dreads feeling like “straw” they are synthetic de
Doing a hot water dip will help soften them up.
can you use kankalon?
Absolutely!
I'm using this method but some of my dreads are not sealing should I leave them in the water longer?
It is more likely that your water isn't hot enough. It should be instantaneous once they are in the water.
+Doctored Locks okay thanks
+Doctored Locks I actually watched your iron seal and that worked perfectly. thank you for all your videos
Awesome! Iron seal is the fastest for me. I really like it compared to steaming or boiling. :)
