  • A new month means the opportunity for a new journal set-up. How you structure your journal is completely up to you, just as you also get to choose the style of notebook or diary system that appeals best and is easiest for you to work with.
My own system is fairly simple.
    1. Set out a simple page showing the days of the month, perhaps marking the weekends in a different colour for simplicity.
    2. Show each week across two opposing pages, for example on the left hand page you could have space for events and commitments from Monday to Thursday, then on the right hand page give yourself the space for Friday through Sunday.
    3. Decide on your personal Roles. The fewer the better so that you can really focus.
    4. Set perhaps 4 or 5 goals or achievements for each Role and write these in your journal.
    5. Refer regularly to your Roles and let these help you set your priorities as you move into and through each day and each week.
    6. Review your progress at the end of each day. Create for yourself a way you can track and monitor your activities, linking this display to the progress you feel has been valuable and useful.
The books I refer to during the video are:
UPROOTED : In Search of the Green Man. Nina Lyon
The Map that Changed the World. Simon Winchester
The writing craft books I am considering for June include:
    Write to Market. Chris Fox
First You Write a Sentence. Joe Moran
    Story Genius. Lisa Cron
    Bird by Bird. Anne Lamott

THIS is the setup I've been searching for to help me get back on track (no pun intended). Will pay a visit to Rymans tomorrow, Lord willing, to get myself one of their large notebooks for my anchor journal - can't wait to set it up! Thanks, Nick!

Glad it helped. The great thing about a blank journal or note format is that you get to work with a different format each month until you find what works best
      for you.
