I visited Nantucket back in 1989. I was at a B&B for 5 days. I stayed with the Parkers at the Tuckernuk Inn Nancy . It sounds funny when you say it. It was the most amazing place. We rented a moped to get a the island. Seafood was impeccable. I don't remember which beach I was at; but I do believe it was on the east side. I nearly was swept out to sea by the rip current. There was red algae on the beach specifically that one and nowhere else. Walking through the old cemetery was fascinating. There were the Graves of the ship captains that you could see their paintings at the whaling museum. I want to go back there again. It is on my 'bucket list'.
Nantucket was such a great place back in the old days when I was growing up, before it became overrun by yuppies. Now it's a paradise for people who have a lot more money than class.
I wasn't referring to Hilfiger as a yuppie. I'm talking about the arrival of yuppies back in the late '70's and early '80's, when the island was first being discovered by the wealthy . My parents sold their house back then on the north wharf for $120,000 and that house is now worth over $4M. Either way, it aint what it used to be back when I was growing up there.
This is why Nantucket sucks now… I was born and raised there and I'll never go back. I want to remember it how it used to be before all the money and the shitty nose-in-the-air attitudes.
Really?? That's cool! My grandparents live a few houses down from that house. When I visit Nantucket during then summer and for Christmas, I see that house all the time.
I always hear New Englanders referencing the Gatzby era. F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote The Great Gatzby in Port Washington NY on Long Island. East egg is Sands point, West egg is Great Neck. It's amazing to see how one book influenced an entire generation. Also the Cape and Islands are far from what Sands Point homes look like, especially with cedar shake sidings. Most homes in Port Washington's Sands Point today aren't classic cape style, but they certainly are up there in price with the Hilfiger home.
You can tell this is NOT AN AREA FOR BLACKS. She smirks saying this the house has areas that are closed off so that the live in staff can't be seen. This is the same methods the Europeans used for live-in help. They see these methods of bells that were strung throughout the big estates to get the attention of help that they were wanted but did not want the visitors or high-ranking guests to see them! #NoH8
She was describing the house as it has been historically preserved. I live in Indiana, and my house also has servant areas. It is because it is so old. No need to read racism into it.
Christian Jermaine you do not know anything about the history of Nantucket, that is apparent. ACK was from its conception abolitionist, it never tolerated slavery. It was a popular whale hunting port for South Africans and was home to the Anti Slavery Convention of 1842. The Brotherhood of Thieves riot was a six-day anti-slavery convention held in the island's Atheneum Hall in mid-August, 1842. The roster of individuals gathered for the convention reads like a veritable "Who's Who" of the abolitionist movement, both in the nation at large and on Nantucket. To understand why the island experienced a riot, one must first appreciate the temperaments and talents of the exceptional people involved. Heading the speakers assembled on the platform was William Lloyd Garrison, president of the American Anti-Slavery Society and editor of The Liberator. Believing that the United States Constitution, which permitted slavery, was a "Covenant with Death and an Agreement with Hell," Garrison advocated dissolution of the Union, and secession of the free from the slaveholding states.
+Christian Jermaine Servants weren't all black, and I highly doubt in nantucket there were any black servants. Idiot. Also, servants were PAID. Not slaves.
+Christian Jermaine Besides ianm89 reply to your comment, there are actually quite a few black people on Nantucket including the many Jamaican taxi drives and they get along just fine. Just like anything in life, Nantucket is what you choose to make of it if a person would decide to live there.
Porshi Johnson Then MOVE. You obviously can't afford it. Do you think it would be any different if you were white in the same financial situation? It's life! There's a DEMAND for real estate there and low SUPPLY so the prices so UP. It's not a race thing, it's an economics thing. GET OVER IT JESUS
Every Hilfiger house looks the same. They have a decorator go through and do it all. Totally void of history and culture. The apartment in the Plaza is even worse.
I visited last year and it’s a boring place. Nothing to do. I live in manhattan beach so the shore is not appealing. Place has a bunch of hipsters as well. Weird considering it was a prep vaca spot. Odd eclectic mix.
Dr. Seuss it’s literally a privilege to even get to go there. Its a fucking ISLAND and it’s very VERY expensive. People who get to go there are lucky. My grandpa owns 2 houses there and I’m so grateful I get to visit a place like that. There’s beaches, downtown, beautiful sights to see, and nice restaurants. So be fucking grateful.
no you don't have a house in Nantucket you also are the same party that has gone after any member of my fam idly. and you are the one claiming you are princess dianna .. please give it up. Thank you ...dianna Louis Louise £

yeah same with mv...when I grew up in 60s-70s and even early 80s it was paradise.
Still is- except for the ppl.
As a kid who grew up there in the 00s nantucket definitely lost its appeal to kids who just wanted to explore the trails and hidden spots
@@alexozorio5788 its depressing out there now. never seen such fake people in all my life and I traveled the world.
Very well 😊 said.

strong Nantucket Native hearts are still clinging on! Getting edged out but still there, resisting the posh twats as best as we can!
$27 million for this mansion? It's way overpriced.
Thankfully ... we never have to see the staff
😱 God forbid.
God forbid the staff should come into the main part of the house.😱
Yeah I was like yuck what a comment to make, who even had live in staff anymore
but yeah, it is the Gatsby theme. Don't forget he died all alone, realizing he had zero real friends.
Wow. $$$
she is so chuffed at mentioning that the owner can avoid the staff. really? I have domestic staff and I don't try to avoid them.
You can see my house at 0:59 to next to the red top lighthouse
Really?? That's cool! My grandparents live a few houses down from that house. When I visit Nantucket during then summer and for Christmas, I see that house all the time.
Party at Jacks!
Wow, you're lucky. :) It must be a dream come true to live in such a beautiful area.
Jack Norton go Jack !
I live in the house that’s in this video. I see you throwing off that net pretty often.
that's what I was trying to explain to my husband, but he still couldn't get over it - even though he was crazy about the house
Cliff Road?
Beautiful
too small for 27 mil bucks

Live on Cape Cod I have never heard anyone talk about the Gatsby Era. I have no idea what you are talking about.
Exactly.
Love the color scheme. I could live in a cardbox box if it was on Nantucket!
same but on mvi.
So would I
I practically did in the 80s. Lol
Nice the staff can be avoided like lepers in a leper colony...
🤣
Love the cheerful kitchen!

Nice new price: $21,900,000.

It’s just an island . What’s the big deal?
I would love to VISIT Nantucket let alone buy a place there. Which I would love to do if I could. Now retired.......can't do that. LOL
Doug Demuro where you at?
I worked in that house. So ugly.
honestly nothing to write home about, house i used to stay in martha's vineyard was more comfortable and had a better view than this
Idk but it looks like my dad works there
This woman has a very condescending and.snooty attitude about staff.
ikr
Takes ALOT OF $$$$$ to live like that.
Every Hilfiger house looks the same. They have a decorator go through and do it all. Totally void of history and culture. The apartment in the Plaza is even worse.
too much naration by realtor
Show a little more house & less chit chat

Emma 56775 no need to be rude but yea I agree with you my aunt lives there and every time we go visit it’s amazing
I'd rather save $20 million and invest the remaining $7, who would spend that much on a house? let alone, that ugly thing?
I rather have a house like this... pure joy! Great style, very classy!
I meant (than)
It will be mine....OH YES!....It will be mine.....
Overpriced, but i guess its value is sustained elsewhere :/
no you don't have a house in Nantucket you also are the same party that has gone after any member of my fam idly. and you are the one claiming you are princess dianna
