- Today we take a look around Saint Gobain Pam (UK) Ltd, Holwell Works, Welby Rd, Asfordby Hill, Melton Mowbray LE14 3RE.
We was very surprised at the lack of signage and weak security at this place.
We kept to the pedestrian footpath at all times and observed all signs.
We eventually reached the foundry when we see a PPE Must Be Worn Past This Point Sign so we turned back.
The alarm was raised and then it turned into chaos.
Then the drone went over and the Director made an appearance.

I work for Saint Gobain UK in Telford, can strongly say our security is better than this. Shocked at how far you got in all honesty. This video has definitely ruffled some feathers tho, been a company statement released about this and new signage is being put up around site and security are being a lot more strict. 👏🏽👏🏽

Their security needs to be replaced immediately, before somebody walks onto the property and getting hurt or killed. This security guard must have been asleep as you walked in.
Whilst I agree the security is useless here, this modern concept that everyone else is responsible for an individuals actions is beyond ridiculous. How about people are allowed to be responsible for themselves within reason?

To Alan and the PAM-UK 'family' of workers, your products are great and you are generally a good company - but your 'security' was utterly useless, anyone could have gotten in there, whether innocent people that could end up in extreme danger from the foundry, or hostile persons in a theft or terrorism context. And the person, DJ, who you should have been thanking and having a pleasant friendly chat with for highlighting the situation, was surrounded by multiple people who seemed to be inspiring each other to gradually increase the hostility bit by bit, not an honourable way to behave. Then after, DJ, who stated that he didn't intend to be there again, not listened to and repeatedly told not to come on site again. Please improve!
Alan needs to fix his security and attitude. His manager needs to understand the drone laws. I bet they all watch this. I guess you are a customer Stephen, I've watched companies that I've used and after seeing some bad attitudes I will never use them again.

I am not a customer, In the past I was one of what people call 'drainspotters' had an interest in manhole covers and access covers, the industrial product, the varieties, the designs, if you search Japanese manhole covers on youtube you can see the height of what is possible with them. Anyway, due to my interest I was restrained in what I said, I could have had some very harsh words for them.

DJ may explain the laws, rules and regulations to all and sundry but nothing seems to sink in with the various workers and management, it goes in one ear and straight out of the other as there is nothing in between to stop it.
DJ may as well talk to a brick wall rather than try and explain the details to a group of brain-dead know-it-alls.

Think it’s the security guy’s last day, how the bloody hell were you able to get that far into the company furnace area, that’s a major security breach and it must be a sackable offence to let someone walk that far into the site without been challenged by a member of security or company staff.

The guy that approached DJ near the furnace area, should not only have warned DJ of the requirements of PPE and signing in procedure, but also should have escorted him to one of those areas ... not just point him in the right direction and let him go freely wandering again. Failings on so many levels!

Alan was actually quite professional IMHO, certainly more rational than others you have interacted with.
Would be a good one to revisit after a while and see if they have improved, I suspect they’ll make some significant changes.
If the guy in the gatehouse was doing his job instead of watching porn, he would have seen you and challenged you before you entered and there would have been no problem.

The security guard who suddenly wasn’t a security guard when asked about SIA is in at fault, the guy you met on site was good and polite, I think you did there brains in thinking how you can walk freely around and that’s why they all came out gobsmacked . Good audit mate 👍🍺

PPE is basically a requirement for all employees, and this is a company policy for employees only. He is security and cannot give orders and he has absolutely no authority over anyone and why does he assume you must answer him? They have no clue about the law and just try and make it up as they go along and they are struggling to cover up their failures and first question is "wheres your car" so they can report it to the police who will find the name of the registered keeper and pass it on. Strange how there is nobody to man the security gate but 10 people can turn up.
Glad you aren't flying your drone over their property and they have noticed you are doing what they claimed you wouldn't be doing and that makes me smile.
Alan is quite correct about reporting to the gate house because it invalidates their insurance for visitors and it makes the company fully liable for any injuries any visitor sustains and I would suggest Alan has the entrance fenced off so people cannot enter without passing the gate house.
What can they report to the police? What crime? And even if they told the police DJ's number plate, the police aren't allowed to pass on the registered keeper to the company. GDPR.

Thrilling to watch and DJ run rings around the large group of people who tried to question the motives of the audit. What a brilliant video, all the staff that came running are probably shitting themselves now they have realised what you have done and will be panicking as the could get a call from HSE - and other agencies and from the company chairman when he gets calls from his unhappy customers for lack of security and breach of Health & Safety regulations and may be a call from the SIA regarding the man in the security box.
No security at the gatehouse, just a scared site manager who overreacted & scrambled 10 man & a lady who had no protocol to follow. What a shambles! Excellent work DJ & let's hope they make changes otherwise that would be a brilliant learning opportunity - straight down the drain!

Did Alan use his ears. Didn't he hear DJ keep saying that he won't be coming back. So his asking not to go on the property is utterly pointless and just makes him look stupid.
Eventually word will get round. And when you or other photographers turn up at large industrial sites they will welcome you with open arms, show you around safely and answer all non-confidential questions. With it all being done in a warm and friendly manner.
A visit from a photographer is a fantastic opportunity for great free publicity.

It's amazing what places you can find with the drone ay 300-400ft that are hidden when you're on ground level. i think there might be a re-visit to this site to see any improvements on the gates and security (and the security geezer)

Further thought on those broken bags of what looks like slag or even worse ash. Blowing across the fields that stuff carries level heavy metals like mercury and other poisons . pretty sure that did not look like an approved waste handling site with the broken bags of black waste blowing across the countryside .Did you notice as soon as you pointed out the dumping the panic entered the conversation .

Great content as usual. Though I have had a concerning thought for the future, as the more businesses get the audit treatment the more they will clamour to their friends in government to eventually get drones and cameras outlawed in/above/near a business.

His site is woefully under secure and a health and safety risk, and I dont mean to use H&S in a nerdy way, but just that its Alan who would get sued should anything happen. He's right to panic. The security gentleman obviously is completely unaware of the applicable laws. He does what he personally believes is right.

@@The-Great-Brindian It's a suggestion. We've seen many of these guys become aggressive. What if they become malicious and damage his car? Some auditors have been physically assaulted and had they're equipment smashed and even taken. I think it was Ash at a car wash and even though the PCSO witnessed this she still did nothing. I stand by my suggestion. Prevention is better than a cure.

What they fail to understand is that any lost child could have freely wandered into the manufacturing areas and been killed, Allan would then be investigated for corporate manslaughter and it would be him that faces jail time.
