    As an owner of a '94 NSX NA1, I know about this car. Early pre '94 NSXs have smaller wheels and the rear toe out setting causes the Yokohama tires wear out every 5,000 miles. My friend had a '92 and I checked his specs against mine. The rear toe out setting is much more. After '94, added powered steering due to a heavier body. '95 NSX were mostly T-tops which added more bracing (weight). It wasn't until '97 that NSX added an extra gear and bumped up the engine to 3.2 litre. If there are bad years for NSX, '95 and '96 are the ones. Other than the Type R, the NSX Zanardi edition which was available in the States is the one to have. It has the bigger engine, six speed gearbox with the pre '95 body without power steering. BTW. I bought my '94 in '95 because I wanted a lighter body. I still have it.

      Why exactly are 95/96 bad NSX?

    • @edwardyee894
      @edwardyee894 2 роки тому

      @@hondapowerDC2 Bad is a relative term in this case. NSX came out with the Targa model in ’95 but cutting the roof and added bracing for the structure. This in turn added weight which required power steering. ’95 has the same engine and gearbox as the ’94. It was not until ’97 that Honda/Acura bumped up the engine and increased the power. The six-speed gearbox also came out in ’97. Other than the limited ’99 Zarnadi edition, most if not all NSX’s after ’95 are Targa not coupe. Honda never did import the S or the R editions of NSX to US. So, I would say that the Zarnadi edition NSX’s are the hottest NSX NA1 sold in US. Zarnadi edition has the lighter coupe body with updated engine and gearbox. ’95 and ’96 have the Targa body and the original engine and gearbox. I do believe that NSX NA1 after ’95 could be special ordered with a coupe body but personally, I have not seen of known of any.

    I am so pleased this remains in your garage.
    What is the most dominant car in Formula 1 history???
    It certainly isn't a Ferrari. A little Day-Glo red and White car called the McLaren HONDA MP4 / 4 driven by a certain Mr A Senna holds that honour, and I feel like him when I get in my little EP3 Civic Type R at 46 years old 😁

    I’ve had a 1991 red/ black manual NSX for 16 years, I’ll never sell it! I recently added a 2005 997.1 to keep it company as a daily driver, ‘modern’ sports cars could learn a lot from those two masterpieces.

    In the 80s I was younger n prejudiced. I didn't see Honda as being on par with Italian, German performance cars. Then the NSX came. I could see some prejudiced British magazines trying put down the car n defend continental sports cars as having intangible values like pedigree, flaws as characters...time has proven the NSX to be great. I now try to be more open minded. Trying anyway. Great review.

    Senna drove the NSX in Japan and came back and said it felt a little fragile. Honda then went away and made the car 50% stronger. Yes the original had no power steering and it had a slow steering rack that requires quite a bit of input and certainly gives you a work out that makes it so special. That v tec engine is glorious and once on the second cam it flies. You lucky man driving such a special and totally understated super car capable of 0 to 100mph in under 8 seconds 27 years ago was un heard of ! Great video and so jealous. They also command big money like you say . Jenson button the f1 driver sold his not that long ago and it went for well over 100k !

      There other "big-karts" lighters than a F40, elise, exige, Alfa 4C, speedster... and specially the Caterhams and other track toys.
      About the NSX-R, you can make a lighter and better NSX than the NSX-R with aftermarket parts, without remove luxury accesorys, comfort or security (audio, airbag, baquets, AC...). I did in mine.

    Not all later NSX had electric power steering - JDM NSX could be ordered with or without EPS. My late 1999 Type S has the manual steering rack, which, OK, is heavy at parking speeds but is perfectly weighted for open-road driving and has superb steering feel, which is why I looked for several years before buying the one I have.

    Why Nsx doesn't have power steering ? I have a Prelude which was the second best Honda in 92 and it has power steering as base feature. And it's also quite sporty just like Nsx. Double wishbone front and rear and all the good stuffs Honda had back in the days. Of course less power but still very good for cornering

    Do you find the Japanese supercars to have a soul like the German and Italian cars? Or are they more "technically correct" but lacking "je ne sais pas"?

    • @TheCarGuysTV
      @TheCarGuysTV  5 років тому +2

      Japanese cars absolutely have soul, and this is DEFINITELY one of them, and there are many others from the Sixties and Seventies like the Datsun 240z and the Toyota 2000GT. They are not lacking 'je ne sais quoi' - there is a huge amount of 'quoi'.

      Actually, a car has no soul, the soul is the one if the creators. And dudes at Honda put more than their souls in this car. I'll leave the last word to the soulfulest car designer ever, Gordon Murray: By the time I drove the NSX, all the other cars I had benchmarked the F1 against (ferrari, lamborghini, porsche) disappeared - or something like this.

    Greetings Car Guys!!!! Hope all is well in these crazy times. I absolutely love the looks of the new NSX, and just want one. Strange as I have always been a 911 man. The latest NSX is stupidity over priced new, but gravity has been applied to the secondhand market and its now possible to pick up a 2yr old car with less than 10k miles for a 40% to 50% reduction.
