    My biggest takeaways.
    1) The clip thing used to attach the harness to the wire was ridiculous. I am not an expert by any means, but that thing looked unsafe.
    2) I'm a Jim Cornette guy. The only time I've ever heard him cry was the Lance Russell eulogy he did (the Memphis TV announcer who was instrumental in his early years, forgive me if the details aren't spot on). Seeing him cry about Owen really struck a nerve in me.
    3) I never got Martha Hart not wanting WWE to have anything to do with Owen. This made that all make sense to me. I was, and still am, surprised at how my opinion changed when really hearing it from her side, Owen's kids' side and all the stuff they went through beyond the death itself. Obviously my original stance was somewhat onesided and ignorant but I didn't expect to have my eyes opened like that.

1.) Martha & her kids are some of the Strongest people ever to go through what they did & get through it, they deserve a lot of respect.
2.) I wish could've got some of the Hart Family's perspective on this episode just to get Martha's side & theirs. Also, I agree with a lot of what Martha says but what I don't really agree with is that it kinda feels like she's keeping Owen away from his own family.

A girl grew up without her dad and has a minimal amount of memories of her father. A boy grew up without his father and yes,he's lucky to have memories but think about all the things that he missed out on due to the irresponsiblity the WWE displayed when it came to ensuring the safety of a performer! He never got to see his children off to their first days of school,he never got to see his children graduate,he will never get see the people they will marry, nor his own grandchildren. I thought it was very good for a one-hour doc (could have been a two-hour and should have been) and the reason it was so good was because of the participation of Martha and the kids. I never heard their side of the story before and only had a less-than-flattering picture of Martha in my mind that had been painted by other people (the Harts, among others). I figured there had to be more to her than that, but I had never heard such until now. It was great to hear them talk and to see that they had been able to move on and do as well as they have. Combined with this Solomonster show, there were a lot of details I didn't know about the story and hearing them doesn't make my opinion of WWE, Vince and family, and even Bret (who was my favourite wrestler growing up) any better. The wrestling industry can be a real cesspool and I'm glad Owen's family has risen above it.

I'd like to see Jerry McDevitt speak publicly about how that sail boat clip was a genius idea & completely appropriate to use. I'd like to see HIM use a clip like that to descend from the ceiling of an arena. This low life has been playing the victim card for WWE for 20 years. He makes McMahon look like a saint.
I recall reading an article that quoted him bragging about not losing a case except for losing to "those tree huggers." Obviously referring to the World Wildlife Fund. They had a deal with McMahon, but he decided to be arrogant, which is what led to them suing & causing the name change. What the WWF do in rescuing abused animals is amazing. To dismiss them as just tree huggers is saying animal cruelty is acceptable.
And bragging about "beating" the widow of a guy you killed is nothing to be proud of. Jerry McDevitt is evil.

I think we needed to hear from the rest of the Hart family to get a more accurate retelling of the ensuing drama after Owen’s death. With all due respect to Martha, it’s hard to deny that she would have a biased perspective of those events and the lawsuit. Again, that’s not an indictment on Martha, it’s just human nature to be biased, am especially in situations like this. But I don’t care who it is, I don’t feel comfortable taking one person’s word as gospel.

Like it was said in the episode they are honoring his legacy far more than WWE can. Ask yourself this, what would Owen have wanted? Would his loyalties lie with a company that made the decision to continue the show or would they like with his wife and children? To the fact that the heart attack happened to Jerry Lawler. One of the first responders. To Bret of all people bring in the main event segment. To the fact that no one except Michael Cole didn’t stop doing their part of the show, and I will always have respect for Michael Cole for doing that, and after everything that happened. I get baffled when some online posters say things like "Martha has no say on whether Owen should be in the fall of fame, the direction of his legacy, etc etc. Bret is his brother, he knew him longer, he and his family have the last word." I get that they were brothers and were very close but in my opinion Martha has the final say, case closed. Who was the woman he had two kids with? Who was with him during the lean years when his wrestling career was getting off the ground? Who was taking care of the kids 250 days of the year when Owen was on the road (I don't deny Owen was a great Father but it's tough to be a Dad when your working away for so long). In my view, Martha has the right to all that. If she and her kids don't want Owen in the hall of fame, I respect that.

I did tear up and I'm not afraid to admit it. After watching the documentary, I understand now why Martha, and her kids want nothing to do with WWE.
A chill went up my spine when Martha showed the harness clip that was used in the stunt, the clip was used for sailboats. She said "this is what was holding him". A thing that only took six pounds of pressure too open. This was some shocking new evidence to learn that I did not know about before. I was at a loss for words when I heard that.
Solomonter was right when he said "if Owen had the same entrance like every other wrestler had on the card that night, this never would have happened. Also the WWE HOF is not a real HOF. It is just a big spectacle to make more money for Vince. Owen will never be forgotten. He lives on through his family and his matches. He does not need a stupid WWE HOF induction.
Last year, I vowed never to watch any WWE shows after Crown jewel. But the events of this year has only reinforced that vow. From the Owen tragedy to black Wednesday last month, WWE has proved that it is the most toxic and selfish company in the world. When I watched the reaction Vince gave that reporter, I could not believe the gall from Vince. He was out of order.

I have to wonder what the specifics of Owen's contract would have been. If Vince told Owen he had to show up for the rehearsal or be fired, one would think that was Owen's opportunity to get out of his contract and leave to join Bret and the others in WCW. I'm sure there would have been the standard no-compete clause that would have forced him to stay at home for a short amount of time, but I find it hard to believe that, given the sort of money WCW was throwing around those days (especially when you think about what Bret was offered), WCW and Bischoff probably wouldn't have compensated Owen under the circumstances. Yeah, Bret was a bigger name and WCW probably wouldn't have done anything with Owen, but at least he might still be alive and maybe it could have resulted in Bret having more to do as well with either a reformation of The Hart Foundation to either feud with Hogan and The NWO or against The Four Horsemen or, if you wanted to go that route, have Bret rekindle his feud with Owen, with the story being Owen is angry with Bret for leaving him behind in WWE to be screwed by Vince. You could even have Owen "reboot" his own "You're selfish" promos from when he first turned on Bret in the 90s and have Owen use it in the context that Bret cared more about the money than his family.

I use to be so selfishly upset with Martha for hiding Owen. After seeing that episode. I don't blame her at all and I respect her decision and reasoning. It doesn't matter what we wish or want whatever would make that family more at peace is what it should be.

I am one of the biggest Bret Hart fans there is (was and ever will be), but I will agree that him going for his footage as part of a settlement seems to have been the wrong time and place.
I think Bret needs to realize that Owen - unlike himself - did not live for his 'legacy'. He could care less if he were inducted into the WWE HoF. He should only go in if Oje and Athena asks for it.
His legacy is not 'our' - it is theirs.

When Owen died, NOBODY cared about WWE's Hall of Fame. The internet was in its infancy & they didn't do the phony ceremonies like they do now. So I don't think Owen would have wanted to be remembered on some pathetic internet page being exploited for profit by the company that put him in that situation while his wife & children had to live with the long term consequences of WWE's arrogance & negligence.
Bret Hart never bothered to show up for the Lou Thesz induction for Owen in 2018 either.

I remember an interview with vince on off the record not long after the death of owen that he talked about the discussion he had with bret at the funeral and the only thing bret was talking about is about his footage so back then i thought it was bs to what vince was saying and now with this episode that was in fact true that he was going along with the lawsuit for his footage not really for justice. The behavior of owen's family is pretty discusting going againts his widow if its all true.

Late reply but in a very early shoot interview (I saw it on youtube but I'm not sure if it uploaded anymore), Bret gave his side of the story about that meeting (it was in a park in Calgary). Martha's lawyers told Bret to NOT talk about the lawsuit when speaking to McMahon, because McMahon could of been wired for sound. Vince even had police stationed around the park because he feared that Bret would try to murder him at that meeting. Bret said that he told Vince something along the lines of "look, I'll be straight, we both know a lawsuit is probably coming, and I assume you don't know anything more than what you read in the papers. I was asked not to say anything more about that, so let's not go there." And Vince agreed.

@@billymarino4452 Yes, that is true, but in all fairness, Bret is a complete narcissist that likes to talk about how great he is 24/7, so I can see why McMahon thought that.
