Seeing that interview was especially painful for me to watch because I've had family members like that. A cousin suffered a TBI and they're not the same. It's a shame that he couldn't get a handle on his vices before something tragic happened.
Anytime I hear the name Terry Gordy: "FUCK DR. DEATH!!!" That story Luke Gallows told years ago. Which is on UA-cam, for anyone who wants to look it up.
I've done amounts of drugs that would kill an average person. I've OD'd twice myself. Thankfully, I didn't end up as such bad after effects like Gordy. I wonder if it had something to do with him being on a plane?
this was a very informative episode of dark side of the ring terry gordy was awesome as apart of the fabulous freebirds I didn't know about him teaming with Dr death steve willams that's very interesting jim cornette is always great during these episodes.
To me he looked like Mike Von Erich when Mike did that interview when he got out of the hospital like there was nothing there just a shell of a person really sad
@@spencer2745 Dude that press conference Mike Von Erich did is downright chilling. He was just a total husk with nothing left. He didn't seem capable of complex thought anymore and there just didn't seem to be any real life in his eyes anymore. Those doctors managed to keep him alive, but they definitely didn't save his life. Not even trying to be mean or exaggerate, but that press conference is almost scary when you compare what he was like before
Ive heard Foley tell that story before where Gordy was on a plane or elsewhere just asking random people if they had any pills or medication they could share with him, so sad. Also in that RF Shoot interview how bad he looked, couldn't remember anything, he looked so lost and almost lobotomized.
The picture of Gordy with the UWF World title got me thinking: Bill Watts saw something in him that no other promoter ever did. Perhaps he reminded him of a younger version of himself? I don't know. He could never get passed the "Von Erich wall" in WCCW that kept all others but Fritz's boys out
Kevin Nash tells a story about him, Scott Hall, and Shawn Michaels splitting 100 between the 3 of them. So 33 for Nash and HBK and 34 for Hall. These guys went hard with the pills.
@@standardofexcellencehonestly a Vince one would probably be a letdown since it’ll either be way too short (and skip over lots of drama) or way WAY too long (and focus on everything)
Seeing what pill abuse did to Gordy it just makes it more a miracle of that Kurt Angle is still alive and in as good of shape that he is.
Gordy was overweight and probably had a pre existing condition already.
I highly recommend going back and watching Gordy’s work in All Japan in the late 80’s-early 90’s. He was so fucking good, man.

Knowing the history of Kurt Angle back then, it's a miracle how he isn't dead.
ECW Extreme Warfare Vol. 2 was the first ECW VHS I owned. Terry Gordy vs Bam Bam Bigelow.
Dr. Death and Terry Gordy tag team name was legendary, but they had a fitting theme music with I liked it Loud.
So far all these episodes in season 5 have been great. I didn't expect them to be this entertaining, and emotional.
man the John Tenta episode was such a brutally tough watch. Big credit to his widow and his children...they are carrying the legacy well
One of the all-time big men, a tragedy that was taken way too soon.

Wow 50 Somas?? If he took that many at once he wasnt just trying to sleep. He was trying to kill himself.
Apparently most of the wrestlers were doing amazing amounts of Soma's.Nash said about HBK, Scott Hall and Nash doing 30+ at a time
sounds that way for a human, unless they had sketch supply issues.

Hearing Solo imitating Andre The Giant “He’s drunk!” Made me spit out my water

After his coma, it was terrifying to see how his eyes were effected. He looked like Kurt's after 2009 with that deer in headlights.
Have you seen that infamous shoot interview he did? Poor guy looked horrible there
i saw the video footage on the episode. He looks so confused. @@juansanchez209

Good on Steve Williams for knowing the signs and saving Terrys life. However it was really sad hearing about his downfall from all his peers.
I was a big fan of Terry Gordy.

Richard Simmons would have worked so well as a manager.
good review
🫡Thank you, solomonster 👊🏾
Crazy how these guys comeback right b4 they died, and how they looked great then they pass away. It's kinda crazy
Top 5 big man of all time.

Seeing the deer in headlights look during some of his interviews was really sad
Listening to this and realising how lucky and what a miracle Kurt Angle is
Second OD sounds like suicide attempt. It's interesting he refuses job for Hogan then his life spirals down.

I'm almost surprised that we haven't had many feuds over entrance music in pro wrestling.
Gordy would also have made a great rival for the Ultimate Warrior.
Do yourselves a favour and watch Hansen vs. Hogan.
Wasn't he The Executioner in the Undertaker/Mankind fued in 1996?
Yes

The only real issue with Richard Simmons: Heel Manager is that he would never want to work heel, no matter how good he would’ve been.

I saw that RF video. It really was sad and depressing. That was no exaggeration.
they blew through all the good episodes by season 3
I think Chris Adams and Black Saturday should be good.
There are still topics they could cover they don't that could make this a better season before vince.

Everyone knows Hulk Hogan was the one who invented entrance music.
Right after the Undertaker broke his neck in 1974.
Does anyone think him starting at 14 doing that to your body at such a young age catching up to you
