    Thanks Alex! I have a 2016 Cruze LT and this video helped me know where to look and I have a leak in that same area.
    Your video is the only one I found that showed me exactly what i was looking for.
    All the others I found talked about replacing hoses and thermostats. I only wanted to know where to look,so thank you so much, its greatly appreciated!

    Hi Alex, you really do not need to remove the Turbo to replace the leaky cooler line. The better and my view is quicker/simpler is to remove the Cat converter, it's bracket. Then you clear path to the where the cooler line nut holding to the Turbo. Just use a wrench and take out from that end. And the other end is just clamped on top and easily removed. Hope this helps.

      @@AlexTheCarDoctor turbo removal on these engines is honestly for someone who is very skilled at working on cars. there is a coolant line from the back of the turbo that bolts to the block, and is not easy to get to. the oil drain tube is prone to breaking during the removal process, even more so if someone doesn't unbolt it. and one of the bolts is near impossible to get to without removing the cat. the oil feed tube also must be replaced. removing it ruins the seals and it will leak if the old one is reused. there is also two
      PCV lines (one big and one small) that are also prone to breaking if not careful.
      the easiest way to fix this specific coolant line is to take a Dremel and carefully cut just the metal crimp piece. then replace with 5/16th inner diameter bulk hose with two clamps.
      honestly with the amount of common issues with these engines, there should be recalls with updated parts for most of it. weak valve springs, PCV system failures (with two of them, and both being molded into the valve cover AND a the intake manifold stupid design...), cracks in the turbo casings, water outlets being prone to cracking due to being weak plastic, the turbo coolant return line (that was leaking on this car. like why do they even do that as a crimped compression fitting? should have just been a hose to begin with), being designed to where you have to remove the passenger side engine mount just to change the belt. the list goes on.
      how this car isn't under Lemon Law is beyond me.....
      otherwise great videos! you keep your content entertaining as well as educational. keep it up!

      As an owner of the Chevy Cruze (2015) I 1000% agree with you. My wife and I got the car with 30,000 miles we had to replace turbo at 60,000 we've dumped so much money into leaks, PVC exc. Last night I was driving it noticed smoke coming from under hood had to pull over. Coolant everywhere. Good thing I had a couple bottles of water I put in it just enough to get me home. New problem but seems normal when owning the cruze.

      Same shit with the Buick encore. I've learned how to do any and all work on it as the price for a mechanic as often as id need them... Plastic where radiator hoses connect, STUPID quick connects, MIND YOU are only dealer parts, where they should've just put clamps. All and all GM has been using these vehicles imo to MAKE MONEY.

    OK, I have a Chevy Cruse 2013 LT 1.4 ltr Turbo and I developed a situation where my coolant started going down every few weeks. What I did as a temporary stop-gap measure was periodically refill the coolant, but two weeks ago it started draining almost daily, and now it's summertime, so waiting for the coolant to cool down to refill if necessary is a real hassle. The guy at a Chevy parts shop at the dealership said that the coolant overflow hose was the most popular replacement part they have for that model. So, I replaced it last evening and will see how well it does. If the coolant stops draining, that was the problem. But, I also want to say that the car never ran hot except for that one time when I discovered the problem.

    Question, we have 2012 Chevy Cruze LT 1.4L. I noticed the hood prop rod feels super hot when the car been running for a while. Is this normal for this car ? The only thing I could of think of is that it is slightly above the heat shield on top of the turbocharger and the exhaust manifold. So that might be the reason but it just feels extremely hot to the touch.
    Note: the temp is ok according the dash gauge as the needle just below the half way point and if I read temp thru the menu, it reads 214-220 F (Thermostat rated to open at 221F so it works).
    I replaced the thermostat, the water outlet and the coolant level is ok in the over flow tank. I appreciate any help.

    • @rigmeltingproductions
      @rigmeltingproductions Рік тому +1

      I know you asked 5 months ago BUT it could be anywhere from $10 to $90 depending on the issue. You could have a warped head and antifreeze is pooling on your piston and that's an entire rebuild or new motor/machining. You could have a hose bad, the pressure relief at the thermostat or the double line leading to the heater core. You could also have a leaking heater core and that (if you fix it yourself) is $100 ish for the part.

I experienced this with my 2011 Cruze LT, the oil gage was in the middle and I was driving and try speed up pass 20mph and I look at my back mirror I see smoke coming out I pulled over and turned off the car for 10 mins and turn it on again I see smoke again. Anybody knows the problem?

      white smoke out the exhaust is a head gasket leak its a 2500$ minimum job

    • @Mobile-mechanicNM
      @Mobile-mechanicNM 8 місяців тому

      Yes a blown head gasket leaking coolant into the combustion chamber will definitely cause the white smoke as well as multiple cylinder misfires and potentially a hydro lock situation like a customers car I did a few months ago. Do a pressure test on the cooling system and pull the spark plugs to check for coolant leaking into the cylinders due to a blown head gasket, these engines don’t hold up to being overheated I just diagnosed one today.

      It seems like you have a air flow problem.have you check your front grill for any obstructions plastic bags etc. that may be stuck on the condenser The condenser sits in front of the radiator that’s for your AC system if it’s obstructed any kind of way it will stop airflow to the radiator causing overheating problems when you’re driving. Some of these newer vehicles have active grill shutters that close to block airflow to aid in the warming up process in the morning then opens up when the temperature gets to normal that may be stuck if you have that system

    The car is OK its the piece of shit 1.4 ecotec engine , too much plastic , a faulty pvc system in the intake ,that leads to diaphram failing in valve cover, plastic coolant housing drivers side ( now available in cast alum aftermarket) plastic thermostat housing (again now available in alum) failing coil packs along with wiring pulg (harness) most likely because the engine runs at 220 degrees, failing transmission cooler lines (leaking) Again PVC system has a aftermarket mod bringing it to outside , in colder climates water freezes in tube from intake to turbo (oil catch can fixes). Turbo fails if oil feed plugs (common from heat) you need to change out at 60k to save turbo Cam solinoids leak, front timing cover and crank seal will leak, valve cover will leak, oil cooler will leak turbo cooler lines ,water pump will leak . New seals need for all at 60k miles . Lets not even get into ground issues ,faulty battery cables. I have bought GM cars going back 45 years and I'm a mechanic ,this is the worst cheapest highest maintenance engine GM has ever made a dealerships dream. The only good I can say about it ,it gets excellent gas mileage when working
