Here are the steps without the excess words.
    (1) Take out plastic bleed valve on left side of radiator, (2) while engine is cold, fill the coolant overflow reservoir until coolant appears at the bleed valve opening, (3) replace bleed valve, (4) replace reservoir cap, (5) set car heater to hot, (6) run car until thermatic fan turns on, indicating car has reached operating temperature and thermostat has opened, (7) take engine to 2000 rpm for several minutes to use water pump to force air through the cooling system to the reservoir [Alternatively, do a short test drive], (8) when engine is cool recheck coolant level in reservoir and fill appropriately. Now a 2 minute video. You're welcome.

Thanks for the video! For cars with the pressurized coolant tank, is it necessary to open the bleeder valve? From what I read in the Chevy Sonic repair manual, I understand the coolant tank acts as the central bleeding location. It allows air bubbles to be collected automatically. Did I misunderstand the repair manual? Thanks!

@@jjmmjj9999if you changed thermostat you have, have to use oem! All the parts stores are a motorad thermostat, it's only stamped on the tstat.. they are absolute junk! I've had them fail in 10 minutes before. Not sure if you did that. & If I recall there is a small bleeder you have to remove many times to make sure no air. Let it cool start up & check the bleeder again make sure no air. Don't drive until you monitor & keep checking for air.

Over the past 4 months have to continuously top up coolant reservoir, noticeable puddles on garage floor. Today the engine light came on and the fan seems to continuously run. The aircond no longer blows cold. I plugged in scanner and it comes up with code P0128. Coolant thermostat. Would this mean I need to replace the thermostat or perhaps try bleeding the cooling system?

Im in South Africa, i own a 2012 Chevy Cruze. The expansion bottle overflowed. I bought a new cap and bleeded it through and for some time it was ok. I also kept getting p0011 error, replaced the oil actuators for the vvt sprockets and replaced the oil which was brand new helix 5w40 but still got the error. Also checked the timing again. I did not drive the car for a while. I decided to drive it to the shopping centre just to charge the battery a bit, about 3km there and back to my house. When i got home the coolant pushed out of the overflow through the cap again. Can you or any body mabe give me some pointers on those 2 problems. Thanks

Alternatively call a reputable mechanic and ask if you can go past to find out what the code means.

When you take the radiator cap off and see dirt or smudge. Flushing it would help as well

Do you mean that it overflowed from the tank up top, Where you filled it?
You certainly want to do it with the bleeder screw to ensure no air. Even then this car is a little tricky to bleed well.

Hi , not being a know it all arsehole but after 30 years in the trade I would suggest not doing repairs on any machinery with dangly hoodie strings , nothing like getting your face pulled into rotating parts to ruin your day

Hi, Would this be the same process for a Holde Barina TM 2014 Model ? This is the car >> en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holden_Barina which is the TM 2011-28 Sixth generation. The equivalent oversees is the chevy aveo second generation >> en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Aveo. I found the bleeder screw on mine also and looks pretty much identical to this car in this video except the location of the overflow tank.
