Scott, I have a hard time getting to sleep as well, so what I try and do and what I find works best for me, is I run a play in my head to keep my mind focused on one thing. The play can be whatever you want it to be what you did during the day or what you plan on doing the next day. As long as I can keep my mind focused on one thing I find it works the best. You said you have had dreams that you fly, I've had quite a few of those myself when I wake up the next day I feel content. lol.

I am 57. Started Keto 10/23 and swapped to Carnivore in Feb 24. I have lost 40lbs. I walk 5.5 miles a day. I sleep like a baby. Have had night terrors and sleep paralysis. I usually listen to sermons as i fall asleep. It has to be a spirit filled preacher and it prevents the terrors or paralysis. Have listened to some Bible reading or prayers and they break through.

My daughter likes taking sleep pictures of me and my granddaughter when I go to visit because we like to snuggle since we haven't seen each other for a while and she thinks its cute. My daughter has a great sense of humor. My granddaughter and I both sprawl all over the bed, have our hands on each others face, legs everywhere, you can't tell whose leg is whose in the pictures, but we both wake up feeling like we slept well. lol.... other than the thought we have a creeper taking pictures of us at night when we see the pictures the next morning lmao. I have to say she has taken some funny pictures!! My granddaughter and I are thinking we need to turn the tables lol. My daughter also took a video of her husband snoring... sounds like she has a sleep issue, then he got one of her, LMAO...

You want to get some sleep try this: one glass of whole milk with 2 teaspoons of raw honey. Warm the milk up,pour in a glass, then add 2 teaspoons of honey and stir it. You’ll sleep like a baby. Remember, not 2 per cent milk or pasteurized honey. Give it a shot. You may be surprised.

Say "now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep, if I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take amen... By the way sleep on your right side which is better for breathing because your heart is on the left side. It won't kill you but that's the story.

Fr33 - we may have different reasons for this. My father was a doctor (cardiologist), and anything medical, I would just call him, even if it wasn’t his expertise. Sometimes he’d say, “I’m not that kind of doctor”, but not often. So I never dealt with things head on. After my dad passed, I tended to continue this behavior. I’ll let Mark speak for himself. Scott I am 65 years old your age so yes I grew up with happy days and Charles and charge and I followed that reality show you did what maybe a decade ago about you going through all the women that you had been with and apologizing to them going through therapy and then you married Renee at the end I have not followed you since that time I didn't know what you were doing how you were doing other than sometimes I saw news clips about Rene's health but 4 days ago I started remembering that reality show and was thinking wouldn't it be nice if all men in the world would actually do that go through all of their past women and apologize to them because I certainly could have used an apology from one particular guy who basically ruined my life that was 34 years ago so here I was thinking of that show And tonight what showed up in my UA-cam menu was the video of Been Awhile. I thought oh look there that's Scott, so I started watching the video I didn't even know that you guys had moved to Florida and then you mentioned about your daughter being 16 I thought oh Lord that reality show was like 16 years ago 17 years ago so I watched the whole thing and then as I exited off that video this video came up about your sleep deprivation And I can't help but thinking this is a reason why you pop in my mind 4 days ago is for this particular video all of the symptoms that you discussed I actually Have gone through the exact same symptoms now everybody suffers sleep deprivation for different reasons I currently suffer from it I've been off the work for the last 2 years I had to take time off because in 2014 I was diagnosed with adrenal fatigue syndrome I was in the late stage of stage 4 there are only 4 stages to this condition I was barely holding on to life it would take me up 2 hours to fall asleep I would be asleep for 1 hour and wake up and be awoke for another hour go back to sleep wake up 2 hours later basically wired I would get up and I would walk around my apartment and then get back in the bed and I would lay there for another 2 hours I was basically getting 2 to 3 hours per day of sleep so by the time I ended up seeing this particular Doctor in 2014, I was in really bad shape my body had begun to shut down I was already in the muscle wasting phase which is your body self-protection of robbing protein from the muscles to feed the organs. I have come a long way since that diagnosis it took me 4 and a 1/2 years to get out of that nightmare to become functional only to be left with insomnia I don't sleep like I used to back then I can now fall asleep as soon as I lay down in bed now but I sleep about 6 hours wake for the bathroom go back to bed and be awake for 2 to 4 hours and then fall back asleep for 3 more hours in a varies from night tonight listening to the things that you said reminds me so much of what I have gone through in the last 10 years especially the last 2 years because I really wanted the insomnia to stop.
I have tried melatonin I did the smallest dose on the market and it gave me horrendous nightmares my Doctor gave me a prescription sleep aid and that also gave me nightmares so I just dealt with the insomnia best I could. But I agree, you start taking supplements and drugs eventually you become dependent on them. Are you a Class A personality? A perfectionists? I am, and most that are have AFS....
    1. Consistent sleep is how you get out of this cycle. Our bodies have a natural sleep clock, circadianrhythm....it usually sends natural melatonin (which I had my levels tested, they were normal). It usually happens between 8-9pm, which is our bodies way of putting it to sleep, makes you drowsy so you go to bed between 9-10pm every single night. When you deviate from that, stay up past that time like 11 or thereafter you begin to destroy the bodies circadian rhythm, and then eventually you can't fall asleep.
    2. After being off these last 2 years, early this year I came to realize Why I was actually not staying asleep getting up in the middle of the night going to the bathroom come back to bed and laying here for an hour or so and eventually I figured out why this is happening now everybody has a root cause my root cause might be different than yours some people may be totally aware of it some people may not be like I said I was off work for the last 2 years why didn't this come to me 2 years ago but I can't sleep because I don't feel safe I am a single self-supporting woman I live alone I don't have any animals and When I begin to tell my friend's this, the first thing they said to me was what in your apartment are you afraid of breaking in? which I looked at them going now I feel perfectly safe inside my apartmostly because I keep a huge door lock on my front door there's only one door coming into my apartment so they said well if that's not the reason then what is it and I said I don't feel safe because for the last 23 years I have gone through constant periods of unemployment, I got downsized from my career in 2002 I was 43 years of age I spent the next 20 years going from job to job the job to job and in between that time I was unemployed I had no income coming in so I faced homelessness 5 times I've been on food stamps I've had to move my residence 4 times I've been without my utilities I've been without food I'd try to keep my car running which was 24 years old when it finally died on me 3 years ago and I had to buy a new to me car .....I don't feel safe because I have not been able to provide for myself ....provide in the sense of making sure I had a stable home a stable life a stable income, security....This is the reason why I became very sick in 2014 and was diagnosed with a Adrenal fatigue Syndrom, the stress of all of that affected my health that I had to start learning new ways of coping and I did this all by myself my parents died in my childhood I have a daughter which I leaned on initially I lived with her a couple of times with her husband and children Which put a strain on their relationship and our relationship so now I'm alone and still working on my health trying to figure out ways of making me feel safe and it's not been easy I've been on social security for the last 2 years my rent's gone up cost of living is gone up that's right now after I pay my rent I have only $600 to live on for the month so yes it's been difficult, a big struggle I thank God I don't have a car payment But there's always going to be something so I'm wondering if maybe that is what is happening to you I don't know whats been going on in your career because I have not been following it since the last 16 years but the symptoms that you said about sleeping on the floor reminded you of your childhood being in your parents' bedroom being next to your mother and leaning up against the the bed itself those are all classic signs of trying to feel safe. That was when you felt safe as a child now you're trying to recreate it as an adult because I find myself doing the exact same thing I have found that if I use a hot water bottle one of those rubber kinds and fill it with very hot water place it on my chest and snuggle with it it makes me feel safe I think in a way the hot water gives me a feeling of snuggling with another human being, but my mother did this to me as a child.. I did have a dog many many years ago and I slept with him But I think it's human beings the very root of us is we want to feel safe now the definition of safe is different for every person I have grown a custom to not having any one I make my own decisions I run my own life but there are times I wish that I did have somebody that I could lean on let them take the reins for a while so I can enjoy life I'm 65 years old and I have had responsibilities my entire life not once have I ever since my adulthood have I ever had A chance of doing things for fun so I just thought I would give you some words of thoughts in case maybe something like this rings about for you I can't help but think that the seed of thought came in to me 4 days ago about your show that led me to watch this video and why I needed a post to comment I'm gonna watch your shows from now on and see how well you're doing I hope your family is well and with you
I listen to Binaural Beats, and Frequently Meditation on youtube...find a way to decompress 1 hour before bedtime..
