I wish I saw these videos when I was diagnosed, they would have made things so much easier.
You said: "People with T1D can eat the same foods as anyone else. They just need to balance the carbs they eat with insulin" -- "Just" good luck with that because it rarely happens successfully with high carb foods. And often leads to excess weight gain, which makes glucose rise and insulin less efficient. So, if you are having trouble balancing your T1D, maybe just don't eat the high carb food so you need less insulin. And pick some lower carb foods that are higher in protein and other nutrients that are necessary for health. "The same foods" like chips and soda and other junk food are likely going to make your life miserable with unpredictability, loss of sleep and confidence, and rollercoaster glucose management and emotional burnout. Everyone deserves normalized glucose levels.
If you know how to use insulin, higher carbs without weight gain is very manageable. Low carb/low insulin is just one of many ways to manage T1, but it isn’t the only way.
as a 28 year old that got this disease I give these insights. 2 years before my diagnoses I had the worst pain my my abdomen and they said I had kidney stones. Pain went away same day. I over drank lots of alchohol with lots of stress weeks before the symptoms would have came. I truly believe this is a disease where stress will cause it.
Nice video, I bought Ambrosia Nightrider cgm to monitor glucose which works great with my Libre sensor, their alarm feature is very helpful during night, it gives alerts when readings are not in range.
