How to upgrade a peg perego: everything

  • I have made shorts of this little toy, which is a peg perego John Deere side by side, but this is an attempt to showcase what I have done in detail. I go over the power upgrades, which includes an increase in speed but also a variable speed gas pedal and a change to charging (by swapping out dewalt batteries).
    I also added lights, an underglow kit, a trailer hitch, and a working power dump bed. The upgrades are enough to make me, and most grown men jealous.

    Can you tell I'm new to youtube? Left the "sample text here" on the upload, I couldn't figure out how to actually get the real text in there.

      Don't worry you are doing a great job . Try adding some music in your videos, nothing too much just some fun background music. As for the text look up a tutorial on UA-cam for the exact program you use to edit videos

      im pretty sure youtube’s algorithm is still based on user retention so how long people stay on your video and i think u should put the “glamor” shots at the end so people(mainly instagram scrollers) don’t click off at the beginning once you start talking

    Ive done the scew trick with bald fourwheeler tires. We would smoke tires doing burnouts as kids, but get stuck in mud, so we put screws in the tread that stuck out on the sides. So as long as you put them shallow enough and in the thick outside chunks it works great getting you out of ruts.

    Thanks for the inspiration. I did everything except the lights so far. You’re right, the dump bed is a bit more work, but i never would’ve had the idea if I hadn’t watched this. Your video saved me a bunch of time on that install. I just put one piece of wood as a cross for the anchor point for the actuator underneath then anchored the wood cross with two wood screws through the plastic runners, which I ran the new electrical lines through for the upgraded power. Might need to put some conduit in there so the electrical line doesn’t vibrate against the screws and cause an arch. Thanks!

    Hot rod power wheels. Can't wait to see a 20hp motor in the bed of that thing. That's awesome. When I was a kid and moved up from the power wheels my dad had gotten me a Yamaha 60cc gas powered 4wheeler and I'm not sure if they still make those small ones? I know they make small snowmobiles for kids but ATVs seems not so much so if this keeps a child from getting bored with a toy and gets another year or two or entertainment seems well worth the time and teaching a kid everything can be improved on.

    I think what you did was awesome, that is a great use of those old 2 amps. Ive got several i dont ise anymore too. Those big Dewalt Batteries are around $200 and would kinda be deminishing returns at some point it makes more sense to upgrade to newer nicer SXS. Now if you bought some of those knockoffs you might really get some nang for your buck, as long as they work.

    • @thelucys
      @thelucys  7 місяців тому

      I have several of the knockoff brands, so far so good. They seem to be more than adequate with power, and the ones I have had for more than 5 years are still going strong.

    Nice video. I have the same unit. Do you know a good place to get replacement parts? I need a tailgate and wheels.
    Also the powertool batteries are definitely designed for that. I often burn through a 2ah battery within 15 minutes using a sawzall. 40 minutes run time is pretty low amperage and they could take that all day long.
    Also I was thinking about the rubber tires. It has no throttle, just on/off, so I figured too much traction might be kinda rough starting and stopping.
    Edit:I saw you addressed the throttle. Nevermind!

    When it does wear out and stops working hopefully in many many years are you going to then up grade your little man to a petrol powered 4-stroke farm kids quad bike or a 500w electric farm brushless kids quad bike. Was just wondering then he can really help out then. I'm sorry if you call the bikes something differently I'm from Australia I think you call petrol gas or something. It's awesome the things you have done it.

    Have you had any issues after using this upgrade for a while? I just finished a similar one using the same PWM and soft start pedal you have. with a single 30 pound kid on it every once in a while the motors will not turn and the PWM just clicks once when he presses the gas.
