Admire your patience in getting them out of the rocks! I remember catching many of the at the SPI jetties on the channel side many years ago. We used a float to keep us out of the rocks since many of these mangroves like to hold up there.

@@christophervela5447 That's where the rats are, that's where the snakes are. Stay outta the dunes too. There's three different species of rattlesnakes in the padre dunes.

Was the water clarity pretty decent been thinking about hitting the Lexington or where u fished along there only further down coming down today and planning on fishing tomorrow
Cool video. I'm curious why if you're using 30 lb line you would need a 30 lb leader. Wouldn't it work just as well to tie the hook directly on your main line, or does the leader serve some purpose?
Anytime fishing the jetty you want to use mono or Fluoro leader bc of the rocks. Braided line cuts instantly when a fish gets you into the rocks, the leader is much more flexible and as you saw in the vid allowed me to free several fish that had me stuck.

It made our trip worth it. Day 1 we went to the beach and dropped bait with the drone .....I almost caught my pb grass fish 😅. About 100lb one. Day 2 well yep
Thanks for the nice video! I had no idea they were even in our bay. For what it is worth, please dispatch or bleed your fish right away. Letting them suffocate is not good for the meat or the fish. Secondly, please only keep 10 inches or longer and only take what you can eat right away. Frozen snapper is just not worth it. Just my two cents. Please keep making videos, I really enjoy local spots.
question from a rookie fisherman: If I drive down to corpus from San Antonio what species of fish are worth keeping on ice for the trip back and to be put in the freezer?
I always catch odd things. Cutlassfish, eel, crab, stripes cup.

Best spot for Mangroves ive found is the back of Janes L Head facing those rocks. Ive caught several 13 plus inches.

I should’ve bled them, definitely will next time! We ate all of em right away, made great fish tacos 🔥 next video is another great local spot!

I’d say 12” minimum. A 10” mangrove barely has any meat
