- Heard the Black Drum were running so we had to go & fill up the stringer! Dead shrimp or fishbites on the bottom works best. Black Drum are my favorite for a fish fry! Hope you guys enjoyed the video 🙌

When you said up close I was like nope not from there . Your partner explained exactly where they are that’s same when reds run from that side you cast at an angle and bait drops right into 30’ of cool fresh water. Beginning of your video shows that water is really low as it always is in July and august . Those drum stack up in there every year like clock work in the heat of the day ,cause there’s no water on the flats for them that isn’t super hot . Marc Villarreal “No Holds Barred Fishing”
You’re exactly right great explanation! The heat has definitely been real even for the fish!
@@Eric_Castillo_Fishing I been recuperating from illness I’ll chat with you if I see you out. I’m just getting back into swing of things .we fish same spots.

Great video. Is that the 361 bridge in front of you? If so, the tropical storm raised the tide or water level quite a bit on the opposite shore from you.
Thanks! & yes that’s the 361
Great fishing !! Is that water still brown with lots of kelp ? Last time I went it was like that
Thanks! Water is brown but I didn't see any kelp or seaweed in the area we were fishing
Is that on the boat ramp side or the Padre Island Burger side?
Burger
looks like you were out there in the winter
Maybe my buddy looked like that with waders lol
Nice bro. Did any of them have worms? There was some in my drum last time (slot size).
Not a single worm in any of the fish I was shocked! These were all 16-22”
Bro, I was just on the other side this weekend and nothing produced and got hung on rock in the middle somewhere few times.
Crazy! I heard they’re still biting
@Eric_Castillo_Fishing Welp I'll definitely hit it up again and try my luck again! Great video & catches bud! 👌
Nice catch!!! I always fish on the north side, heard the owner on the south side won’t allow us to fish there.
@@happyface730 can’t say anything if you walk through and stay in the water!
Nice . How long ago was this
This was fairly recent they’re still out there!
Didn’t know black drum are around this time of year. Must only be in bay
They sit in that channel bc of how deep it is to avoid the heat!
Man that’s an awesome catch, where is the Packery channel bridge?
Backside of Padre Island near Corpus Christi
@weswalker1208 awesome and thank you for the response, I live in San Antonio and will be going there next month, crossing my fingers we get a great catch.
@@ohitslit yeah go onto the island turn left like you're going to Port A. When you go over that bridge do you turn that was it LOL that was the Laguna Madre side. Please be respectful of the area it is private property and once in awhile they block it off
I miss sloppy toppy on the jetty
It’s been a minute! :(
When I lived in Galveston ,1978 to 87 we called these sheeps head, are they the same thing , and we caught the big drum in the winter that we called black drum and they didn’t have any black and white stripes. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️☮️🦬🪶
These are slot sized black drum, great eating! They lose the stripes as they get bigger in size usually 30+
Are you stinging them through the gills?
Puppy drum good eatn. just like gafftop slimy but eat real good...
They were delicious!
