OC: When I first started riding I did night time security at a tech company. I had tons of open parking lot space. Practiced every night. Which after awhile lead to wheelie practice in said parking lot.
OC, this is perfect cause I wanna get an R7 for my first bike so this helps so much. Also could you make series similar to this to show us what to look/check for before riding. Also like maintenance stuff too. Thatd be awesome!
OC: rode through neighborhood and up to deserted parking lots to practice low speed maneuvers and eventually slowly progressed from riding around neighborhoods, backstreets, in town riding (small simple town area), to busy traffic areas and up to freeways.
Thank you so much for creating this Learn to Ride series. I took the MSF course this weekend and passed! I had zero motorcycle experience. I watched this series for months on repeat to prepare me for what to expect. It really help me grasp the basic beginner motorcycle skills.
Currently in the process of getting my gear and my bike. Been watching motovlogs for years now. Watching these are perfect for me cause I can watch and watch and memorize these, and be a fantastic rider. All thanks to you chase!
OC: My first ride was on a dirt bike during breakup in Alaska. So after a quick run down on how the thing worked I was riding on a mix of trail and ice and slush. That was in 1984. Watching your stuff now because I'm getting back into it after 25 years of not riding. My ego tells me I already know how to ride, my brain says go back to basics, it can't hurt anything at all. Thanks for this series.
Love this man... It's so funny sitting here watching you slowly explain things that I've been doing for years, but I found myself being highly appreciative of this video. I've been in 3 accidents during my motorcycle career and I don't think most people are really given an adequate understanding of the basics of riding, and enough of a skillset to safely be given a bike and a license. I think it's awesome you are doing this series. This will help out a lot of new riders feel comfortable because you go over things slowly, and with simple detail. Good man Chase!
OC - before I had a bike. I went with a friend who had one to empty parking lot. He told me I needed to do circles pushing the bike around before I could ride it. But it allowed me to feel the weight of the bike and get a feel for how it moves around.
Wow, so much helpful information I been looking at bikes for awhile now, but you gave a tip to mounting a bike that won't have me looking like a noob. Keep up the great work 👍🏾. OC.
OC: I always been hesitant and never had any support to get my motorcycle endorsement but I finally decided it’s my life and I’ll enjoy it to the fullest so I signed up for an msf course and just got my gloves and helmet and so excited!!!! He is so very thoughtful and thorough so thank you so much man, definitely lookin forward to going into the motorcycle community ☺️
Just wanted to share you and the team give amazing content and advice. I love how open minded and genuinely helpful your channel is. I'm sure your videos will create a generation of good riders.
This vid just taught me that it’s normal sometimes for bikes to not change gears at a stop entirely until you roll it a bit. I just brought a bike home from Facebook marketplace and had that happen at a red light. tried clicking down to get into first but it just didn’t move gears. Gave it a couple stompies and it went. Thought I was dealing with a faulty clutch for a sec. Thanks chase!
Thanks for these videos.. I’m going to get my bike licence in two weeks from now. I’m excited. I’ve always been the passenger on the back of a GSXR. Now my turn 😏
I mentioned to a guy that I wanted to learn to ride and that I'd definitely be doing this. Without any hesitation he let me get on his Yamaha Bolt and flintstone it around the parking lot to get a feel for it.
OC; I've enjoyed watching your videos and thank you for making them. I have a basic understanding of a motorcycle, but these definitely help getting ready to ride this summer. I'll be buying a 23' Yamaha R7.
OC: 1970's when started riding. First thing I had to do was demonstrate I could take a bike from laying down to upright without assistance. Next: Had to explain what everything was and why it was (brakes stopping, reserve fuel (didn't have gas gauges), fuses (electrical issues), etc Followed with (almost like what you did) had to walk bike around (church parking didn't have incline/slope) and then starting stopping in first gear (was not permitted to take out of first that was later with Skipping neutral). Basically walked bike around to straight line area. Took bike out of neutral started bike moving slowly. Stopped bike, put in neutral walked bike around to straight line and repeat several times. I think if we had inclined parking it would have been better because I feel I would have learned more about the bike before learning first gear LOL
When I first started the thing that scared me the most was the anxiety i got at a red light with a car behind me and I stalled out trying to take off lol
I’ve somewhat gotten a better understanding of how to ride on the road now, I’ve always wanted to get a bike since I was three, when I started actually riding motorcycles. Very descriptive, and jogs my memory on how to ride again. Definitely getting a like and definitely getting a new follower!!
OC: I don't have a bike yet, but I do plan on utilizing an empty parking lot, BUT, its more likely to be that I will be practicing in an empty lot with my friends bike or a bike club or something before I have a bike of my own.
OC I'm sure in Georgia most parking lots are on an incline, but in the illinois it's a bit harder to come by. I was surprised how fast you were able to go!
I love the video this is very helpful and i love the motorcycles. The method with putting the bike in neutral and pushing it with your feet is a great example.
OC: After having a friend ride my RC to my house, my practice runs started in my neighborhood. After about a week, I worked up the nerve to ride to the school one block over to do my parking lot practice but the lot is small and on a steep incline.
OC: Never ridden before, but the real step one for me going to be finding a big empty parking lot in Tennessee that’s not gravel or filled with pot holes 😂
OC: I’m loving this series so far I’m learning so much! I’m thinking of getting the MT - 07 to start out. This is a great prerequisite to the MSF course I’m taking in May! 🫶🏽
OC: preferred method of shutting off the bike? Kill switch to off, then key to off? Or key to off direct? Reading comments online supporting both methods. TIA!
OC: I remember practicing the whole day pushing the motorcycle forward because I was scared at that time of screwing things up lol. at least I had my lunch then practice again till the sun goes down :)
Im at 6mins of the video but the details of learning how to ride is🔥. Have you ever think to make a riding school and all bikes is provided by yamaha? Its gonna be awesome! I am 100% recommend to watch Chase on 2 wheels Learn how to ride!
Being in an area where you don't have to be worrying about looking stupid is a big one for me. Unfortunately I have no way to transport my bike so just riding around the neighborhood looking like an idiot. Hopefully next weekend I can bring it farther down the street to an empty parking lot
OC: When i learned how to ride I went to an open parking spot designed for people who want to learn, so its kinda the same :p In belgium you have to take courses and pass an exam on private road and on the open road before getting your license.
OC Your bike is really special. It says at 12:24 that it has a "2RD" ( secird I suppose) gear instead of a "2ND" gear. What does that do? By the way, my story is my Dad got a Kawasaki KZ400 LTD when I was in high school in about 1980 and I got my motorcycle license then. I don't think I got on a sloped area and coasted in neutral. But now, about 40 years later I just started riding my own bike, a 2017 Yamaha SCR950, and the rust is being worked off and am picking it up pretty quickly now. But I am watching your entertaining videos to be a more knowledgeable rider, especially since after this long I, to a large degree, in some ways, am a beginner rider again.
OC, I think I cheated for understanding the clutch/gears cuz my car is stick. I do wish my instructors did more with the walking-no gear, I only did that up and down the lot once. Lol! I've been on my new bike twice as a brand new rider and just trying to really cement the basics in my head.
I've watched so many tutorials at this point, I'm a ways away from even sitting on a motorcycle, I guess burning this stuff into my brain is good. I mostly just watch them because it makes me feel smart, like adult dora the explorer.
Im just wondering if the content couldnt have been condensed into maybe half n hour episode with what youve told us so far? Going over controls and how to mount a motorcycle does not take 40 mins total to explain irl :D This, i guess, picks up newcommers at the ABSOLUT beginning. And i get it for the obvious reasons as a creator, retention of viewership, average viewtime, possible ads and so forth. But still. Ill keep watching anyway :)
OC: Real talk though chase; when are those r7s going to be arriving en masse so I can go throw a leg over? I’m more or less going to get an Aprilia tuono 660 but that Yamaha blue is something else… Edit first time posting OC too woo
OC: When I first started riding I did night time security at a tech company. I had tons of open parking lot space. Practiced every night. Which after awhile lead to wheelie practice in said parking lot.
😆😆😆😆 Wheelies, while at work? Good thing the boss didn't see you, I'd think!
I’ve been riding since I was 12 and for some reason I’m here. That’s how good your contents are Chase!
We appreciate it man. The entire team worked really hard on this series!
@@chaseontwowheels great teams make great contents. Keep it going!

Going to buy my first bike today 2020 Yamaha r3! And going to continue to rewatch these videos ! 4/27/22
How are you loving that R3? 😁
That’s awesome! Going to pickup my 2024 R3 in just a few days! Cannot wait!
@@PeteZa92probably sold it at the end of summer and/or took a loss trading it in on a 650 lol.

Can't wait for this series to be completed so I can send it to my wife. I'll get her on two wheels yet.
Last episode (Ep 05) releases tomorrow morning!
@@chaseontwowheels Awesome!

I'm really considering moving from my CBR300R to this Yamaha. I think I'm in love

How tall are you and how much do you weigh for you to perfectly fit on the r7?

That was a good episode from last episode! OC 🍻
I’m learning to ride and this series has gave me great insight on what I need to know before riding. Thanks for information.

The georgia tag is awesome to see I'm very intimidated never riding can drive manual but still intimidated about riding

I will take the time to walk and maneuver the weight when the time comes 💪🏾
OC: Chase, I truly wish you were an instructor at MSF. The instruction in these short videos is more comprehensive and explanatory than at MSF.
What can I do if I can’t touch the ground with both feet? I’m kinda short and I feel like I could fall more easily, thank you your videos are awesome!
OC: I love this series
OC very helpful and interesting. I think the R7 will be my 1sy bike.
chase, thank you for making these videos. I can't wait to get my license and get a bike of my own!
I don't think I have ever done the slow thing without the clutch. I do coast with the engine off on roads with almost no traffic for example.

OC: Great vid. I learned how to start a motorcycle.
OC, I think I cheated for understanding the clutch/gears cuz my car is stick. I do wish my instructors did more with the walking-no gear, I only did that up and down the lot once. Lol!
I've been on my new bike twice as a brand new rider and just trying to really cement the basics in my head.
Watching these in preparation for buying my first bike
OC, I've never done the parking lot thing butttt i learned the basics on a closed street with a semi automatic scooter lol
OC: The MSF was my first experience touching a bike. So my first weekend was all on a parking lot. ✌️
OC, great vids so far onto the next

Thanks for these videos man! I’m a first time rider and these are really helping. Buying the R7 today.
🤌🏿
So, uh, my first “ride” was down a hill to get to the parking lot next to my house lol. It was like a steep 30 second hill ride. Lovely experience lol
Oc; ride in N downhill to help you get use to the bike! very helpfully thank you !
OC !! love the R7!!
I practiced on a dead end street. Not a lot of traffic.
OC: It was part of the course where I learnt to ride first, to ride "Free Wheeling" to get a feel for the weight and how the bike will behave
C clay church thankful for the video learning a lot probably should have started with a smaller bike
I been looking for these videos from you oc
O.C: Haven't did an empty parking lot, but it will be something I will definitely do.

Well that explains the prank of rolling up on someone and reaching out with your foot and tapping their kickstand before hitting the kill switch...
Haven't rode yet lol watching this first
Be safe bro fun
OC: Thank you!
its all fun and games but how do you get it in such a parking lot if you dont leave next door to it 🤣 awesome video's though!learning a lot!
love the vids oc.
Oc your the best 💯☝🤘🏍 r7 mt07 sooo cool
OC: thanks again Chase
OC: the pass button on the R7 😮
OC... what is that on the steering wheel looking like a white cup. Air filter, oil filter.. what?
I remember when I first started riding I always forgot to raise the kick stand and wondered why the bike wouldn't start 🤣
OC thank you
I’m a new rider. I just bought an R3 2 days ago. Whenever i let go of the clutch the bike turns off. Idk what I’m doing wrong.
