The Vorteks is my favorite 3S by far. It's the fastest and best handling by a wide margin. If flips are your thing, a set of Granite wheels/tires make it a superb flipper. It will out Granite the Granite with a simple wheel change. I bought a 2nd Vorteks for street bashing. Typhon arms and street tires make a super stable missile on the street. It's a great truck that never really got the attention it deserved in my opinion.
Watching the granite flip and tumble back on its feet was satisfying to see The skeleton, crash test dummy was his past (reminds me of Geoff the skeleton from Craig ferguson show)
I went to town on upgrades for the granite . That k6s front shock for the rear and Mojave front for the front shocks was reccomended to me and it’s even better with M2c pistons. On the 6’ high landings it might hop but never flips bit on bigger landings it lands as it should without the pistons and it’s good but it always lands good with them pistons . There’s so many permutations and combinations to try with the all the cars it’s pretty cool actually

I’m actually picking up a Vorteks this weekend off a guy, it’s real clean. Already have the granite and have big bore shocks on it now. Maybe I’ll put my stock granite shocks on the vorteks since I like to hit the ramps hard too 🤣
Few ideas...im an owner of a vorteks...absolute blast of a car, pure ground missile. Added RPM typhon arms to make it wider...plan to get slicks for asphalt and a more 'monster truck style Tyre for offroad. It also has metal Spur gear, upgraded fan for motor. It's stock 18tooth pinion is going to heat up real fast, keep that in mind.
This was a great comparison. It seems the Vorteks is a better driving truck and the Granite is a better jumper. If your out by yourself you probably have to do fewer trips to chase the Vorteks down to flip it over. We've had a polar vortex. Does your test mean they are polar opposites? Yes, Vorteks is spelled differently than vortex.
The granite has a higher center of grivory for sure . The wide kit helps. Yeah man , I d take a vorteks for sure too for the better remote . I had 4s backflips on the wide granite for over a month and switch back to stock . It’s fun for jumps but the taller tires isn’t as good handling as the stock for me . But the wide granite with 4s lp s and 6s stocks lands like a cream puff .

I’ve beat the crap out of both of these and never had a slipper issue like that. I’ve heard of others with this problem though. I’ve only ever had to tighten the one on my granite once. Do you do a lot of jumping?
Great video man! I’m deciding between a TA mt10 and a Omni terminator carbon. I know you only have the non carbon version, but between those two, which drive the best and have better shocks?
Thanks! The Omni has better shocks from the get go, but they have a weakness (though that may have been addressed now). They’re both very similar and can’t go wrong. The Omni has all those upgrades available if you haven’t seen my video on that, but I kinda feel the terminator may have a slightly better feel to it. The droop screws are a super awesome touch too. Obviously the MT is a proven model too. So I’m sure this really didn’t help at all lol
Even better is using Arrma typhon arms and turn buckles. I did that to another granite and it’s definitely much better. Also added a center differential.
It's the old Xmaxx vs krayton debate. For an all out aerial assault the granite or Xmaxx can't be beat but if you want a 4x4 that handles like a car but like a car you get a lot of body slapping and a lot more violence on your electronics the vortex or krayton is where it's at. The outcast tries to blend the two worlds.

I am a noob so I need some suggestions on my first RC I’m down to three A. Rlaarlo carbon fiber terminator B. Arma Vorteks C. Traxxas rustler I’m retired so limited funds . I really like the Vorteks but every video I watch it breaks….but nobody seems to complain. The terminator seems to break a lot less but people complain about it breaking . Durability matters a lot to me My plans - stability with speed on dirt, short grass, small gravel, wood trails and occasional bmx trail, parking lots. Just small jumps in the lay of the land but no big ramps or concrete landings . The terminator looks more durable but the Vorteks looks slightly more fun …it appears the Vorteks will cost me about 300 more when I factor in batteries and charger and the extra initial cost of the machine Suggestions appreciated? Add any models I haven’t thought of
I don’t have a rustler so can’t speak on that. Isn’t it funny how everyone complains when the rlaarlo breaks but not the vorteks? 😂 probably because the Vorteks is faster maybe a little heavier so impacts are harder. Also easier to get parts for the Vorteks (atleast for now), and probably overall easier to work on. Plenty of upgrades out there if you have repetitive breaks. And of course the costs savings of the terminator is substantial when you include battery, though getting a second battery would be ideal for more run time, and you still need a charger. You’ve maybe seen that one already. The rlaarlo omni terminator is a great option but it’s a little smaller and slightly over $200 I think. HBX 2997a not bad but a little smaller than the terminator. The new Arrma vorteks or fury but those might be 2s.

After watching this I must go burn 2 packs with the kcrc and a 6s and the granite baby . Do you keep the slipper kind of tight ? I was at the reccomnded 1 1/2 turns loosened but it was too loose and probably safer than cracking it a 1/3 of a turn ? What does everyone think . I’m no experienced slipper clutch setter . But this last time I set it I put in an Allen wrench and went fwd u til the wheels skid and it’s been great .
Do it!!! I’ve only adjusted mine on the granite once. And just when I could tell it was starting to slip. I’ve never messed around with it otherwise. But I feel like you probably did it properly. Definitely want some skid

I own both and the both have there place in my collection , my granite is heavily modified widened and on 4s outcast shocks. I use that when I want to jump high and do flips. My vorteks is stock it handles so well and is fast in the turns, I do agree it does break more than the granite probably due to tire size and suspension travel. Hope that helps someone!😂 cheers🤙🤘

What are the main competitors with the vorteks ….i guess I am asking what class is the Vorteks because I don’t know the difference between the names truggy…buggy….truck….car….stadium truck….blaster….basher… I’m confused I’m new and don’t own any but I think I like leaning towards more stability and sliding and small jumps of the terrain … My terrain will be mainly short grass, dirt, small gravel , trails…natural lay of land … occasional bmx tracks … rarely concrete and no skateboard parks and super high jumps. Hi cringe when I see videos of people jumping high on concrete., that’s not even me paying the bills lol
Main competition of the vorteks would be a Traxxas rustler. They consider them both a "stadium truck". The granite by Arrma and the stampede by Traxxas is a monster truck, the arrma senton and Traxxas slash are called a short course truck. Bashing is when you drive your RC "without rules" and just do your own thing, doing jumps and going fast etc. as opposed to racing on a track with rules. Hope this helps with some of the terminology, good luck and welcome to the hobby!
Traxxas Rustler 4x4VXL...and even when the Vorteks 3s launched it was cheaper, 380$...now it's priced the same as the other 3s Arrma 330$ minus the big rock which is 350$.
That’s tough to answer. The terminator is awesome. But I’d say if you were to upgrade, spread that size gap a little further and atleast go with a 4s model. I love the 4s outcast!
Gotcha! Well then either one would still be an upgrade in size and power. If you plan on doing more jumping I’d go granite, if you plan on keeping it on the ground, I’d go Vorteks! 😊
@@DerbyCityRC yeah bro, except I don't think they started putting spektrum branding on them untill the v2 or v3, the original blx 100 doesn't have any spektrum branding on it at all just arrma and can be programmed using the hobbywing ezrun programming card, not sure about the newer ones that are branded spektrum as I only have experience with the OG ones myself.
@@DerbyCityRC the Typhon has a Hobbywing motor and esc. And I keep the HW remote Bluetooth tuner module in it so you’ll just have to download the app and you can tune it while driving it👍🏻.

You’ve maybe seen that one already. The rlaarlo omni terminator is a great option but it’s a little smaller and slightly over $200 I think. HBX 2997a not bad but a little smaller than the terminator. The new Arrma vorteks or fury but those might be 2s.

After watching this I must go burn 2 packs with the kcrc and a 6s and the granite baby . Do you keep the slipper kind of tight ? I was at the reccomnded 1 1/2 turns loosened but it was too loose and probably safer than cracking it a 1/3 of a turn ? What does everyone think . I’m no experienced slipper clutch setter . But this last time I set it I put in an Allen wrench and went fwd u til the wheels skid and it’s been great .
Do it!!! I’ve only adjusted mine on the granite once. And just when I could tell it was starting to slip. I’ve never messed around with it otherwise. But I feel like you probably did it properly. Definitely want some skid

Good content, quick question ive been trying to set the punch on my granite they way its supposed to but nothing it keeps coughing when i press forward, what could it be?

Carbon Fiber version or the metal version is good?
I’d go with that carbon fiber version I linked. That sale brings it close to the cost of the metal version.
I own both and the both have there place in my collection , my granite is heavily modified widened and on 4s outcast shocks. I use that when I want to jump high and do flips. My vorteks is stock it handles so well and is fast in the turns, I do agree it does break more than the granite probably due to tire size and suspension travel. Hope that helps someone!😂 cheers🤙🤘

Love the video . What are the main competitors with the vorteks ….i guess I am asking what class is the Vorteks because I don’t know the difference between the names truggy…buggy….truck….car….stadium truck….blaster….basher… I’m confused
I’m new and don’t own any but I think I like leaning towards more stability and sliding and small jumps of the terrain …
My terrain will be mainly short grass, dirt, small gravel , trails…natural lay of land … occasional bmx tracks … rarely concrete and no skateboard parks and super high jumps. Hi cringe when I see videos of people jumping high on concrete., that’s not even me paying the bills lol
Main competition of the vorteks would be a Traxxas rustler. They consider them both a "stadium truck". The granite by Arrma and the stampede by Traxxas is a monster truck, the arrma senton and Traxxas slash are called a short course truck. Bashing is when you drive your RC "without rules" and just do your own thing, doing jumps and going fast etc. as opposed to racing on a track with rules. Traxxas Rustler 4x4VXL...and even when the Vorteks 3s launched it was cheaper, 380$...now it's priced the same as the other 3s Arrma 330$ minus the big rock which is 350$.

How do you think my Omni Terminator (carbon) with 1/10 wheels compares to these two? Should I "upgrade" to the granite?
That’s tough to answer. The terminator is awesome. But I’d say if you were to upgrade, spread that size gap a little further and atleast go with a 4s model. I love the 4s outcast!

Gotcha! Well then either one would still be an upgrade in size and power. If you plan on doing more jumping I’d go granite, if you plan on keeping it on the ground, I’d go Vorteks! 😊

@@DerbyCityRC yeah bro, except I don't think they started putting spektrum branding on them untill the v2 or v3, the original blx 100 doesn't have any spektrum branding on it at all just arrma and can be programmed using the hobbywing ezrun programming card, not sure about the newer ones that are branded spektrum as I only have experience with the OG ones myself.
@drewnewcomb2909 gotcha! I think I’ve heard some people say atleast some spektrums can be programmed with a HW card
@@DerbyCityRC the Typhon has a Hobbywing motor and esc. And I keep the HW remote Bluetooth tuner module in it so you’ll just have to download the app and you can tune it while driving it👍🏻.

Yea, typical Vorteks breaks every time ya drive it. I have more time fixing mine than driving it and that's with heavy duty parts. Piece of sh_t!
