I meet David Jones in person in Los Angeles just two weeks before he died. RIP DAVID JONES YOU WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY HEART ❤. You are now singing 🎶 for all the angels in heaven. I will continue to pray for you everyday and every night. You were my love of all the Monkees.
I loved the watching the Monkees in the 60ts when I was a young boy they had some great hits RIP Davy Peter and Mike 😢🎉❤i miss those times growing up not like today 🙏
When I was a little girl I always felt Davy Jones was so handsome and he was my favorite ❤️ in the band too! I felt so very sad 😢 when I heard of his passing ☮️🦋🇬🇧🇺🇸💚🪻🌹🌸🛎️. Thanks for sharing this beautiful story!! 12:59
He was one of the best from the UK. Monkey mania was in full swing when I came to Canada in 1967. I could not get enough of the Monkeys. They sang some great songs
This was great but I do have to dispute one thing. The show did not make Davy the front man in fact there wasn't one. It was never Davy Jones and The Monkees it's just The Monkees. Every one had their solos.
In later years Mike actually did say "It was Davy's group. We were his sidemen". But of course it was not set up that way. Micky actually sang lead on most of the songs.
As a little girl I loved watching The Monkees every night after school. In my child’s mind I thought Davy Jones was cute (didn’t realise he was that short) I don’t know about a teen idol, maybe a pre teen idol? He kept busy after the TV show ended, I think there’s only one band member still alive. Thanks for putting this together
Wow, that is so sweet. I love it. You’ll never be forgotten. David Jones was so sweet and kind. I just love his music. I am a big fan of him.❤️❤️👍❤️🙏👍😃💕✌️🫶
What is`nt generally known is that he lived with his aunt for awhile in a town called Oswaldtwistle ,,,its in Lancashire about 25 miles from Manchester. I remember years later there was a fundraising football (soccer) match in aid of a local charity .He organised a celebs team and brought along Many of the BBC radio one DJ s and players from the Manchester United First team,I remember watching the game with two of my nephews who got plenty of autographs .He was a nice guy . Great presentation Thanks for the memories
This video is so appreciated but what an opportunity missed over the decades, why wasn't there several serious Documentaries produced when they were all in the their prime, 30's - 40's, maybe even 50's. We would all be watching that now over and over again now that's there's nothing new - 2024
I loved the monkees so much back in the 60s at primary school that some used the put the shirt on with the double buttens that they had in the show l was only 12 at that time
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼you have made my absolute day, THANK YOU!!! Ohhhh, he was my crush. I loved his voice, Daydream Believer is still an absolute favourite.🥰👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼Edit: your research skills are phenomenal! Wonderful video❤️
Every Saturday morning, I was in front of the tv watching my favorite show, the Monkees. Davy Jones was m first crush. I was so devastated (the right word to describe how I felt just doesn't exist) when the Monkees was cancelled and replaced with HR Puf-N-Stuff. The world seemed like such an unfair place. My only issue with DJ is that he aged very badly, looking older than he was way before his time.
I saw Davy at wdw Epcot center. The other monkees were in the audience. Davy told Mike’s mom invented post-it notes. Davy said, “I’ve been walking around the parks and people have been saying these 3 words to me…(pause for effect) Marcia, Marcia Marcia!” Then he sang the Brady bunch theme song. It was so much fun.
As a child loved The Monkees television 📺 series. Enjoyed their records , several are true classic songs today . But hated their 1968 movie Head, absolutely awful !. RIP Davy Jones, and your former band mates......😇
Sure came up with a lot of ways to sell a former self. Sounds rather grueling to me. Surely there were better ways to spend a lifetime, especially if you had real talent.
I met Davy three times in person. The first time I got a kiss on the cheek from him. He was a nice man. Rest in peace, Davy.
Wowza😀
Lucky duck
Lemee guess, you're never gonna wash that cheek again?? 💔🤤
@@DANNYEHLERS I totally 💯 agree with you ❤😊!!! WOW 🤩 12:59

I loved the Monkees as a teen. Of course I had a crush on Davey Jones. But, I didn’t know 90% of what you shared about him. So thank you.

Fyi. " Monkees. Not Monkeys." 😊
I watched the show Monkees and was sad when the show ended. RIP Davey, Mike and Brian you will be missed.
You forgot peter
sadly only Mickey is now left alive

Another great one
Thank you so much! 💕
I used to watch the reruns weekday mornings back in the summer in the 80's.

The Monkees album from 1996 was titled Justus not Yustus.

she invented liquid whiteout , not post it notes, I believe, maybe both?

I MEET DAVY AT A CONCERT IN ATLANTIC CITY AND HAD A DRINK WITH HIM AND HE ASK ME IF I WAS HUNGRY
rip😢 Mr. Jones
I saw The Monkees in Latham NY in ‘87 with Al Yankovic.
Wow... thought he had heartburn when he was having a heart attack. Rock on Davy.
The paper next to the flowers was written by me and left by a friend since I couldn't be there
if i could send pics I could of shown what it had said on it
@@user-DJDreamworld Oh how lovely of you ❤ Thank you so much for sharing 🥰
David Bowie had same birth name changed it as not to be confused with David jones
I also watched the monkey's show andi enjoy the jokes and adventures
I don't appreciate Mickey Dolenz claiming HE was the lead singer of The Monkees, he is the last living one.
He sang lead in most of the songs, but you're right. Everyone took turns singing lead.
I don't think Micky ever actually claimed to be the lead singer but he did sing lead on most of the songs.
Mr Lucky
Were all in the same boat
see ?
I wanna be free
like the blue bird flying bye me.
turn up your hearing aids
we set the public str8.
I never met Davy, but I did meet his granny who chastised me for drinking a pint of bitter(beer)
😂
✌🏼❤🎶

Sure was a busy Monkey...!!!
I read that the last wife wasnt well liked and sold Davy's horses; anyone know more about her?
I thought I read that his daughters have a charity that supports them.
Sure came up with a lot of ways to sell a former self. Sounds rather grueling to me. Surely there were better ways to spend a lifetime, especially if you had real talent.
I didn't know he was dead. RIP.
How could you have NOT KNOWN that?????
