    They were the soundtrack to my childhood. Aside from the joy they brought to so many, these were 4 decent human beings, good hearted and rather humble. It's sad that half of the group is no longer with us, but the music lives on.

    I had the amazing opportunity to meet Peter and Davy twice and Mickey three times. I saw them in concert in 1986 during their 20th anniversary tour. Then again in 1997 for an autograph signing and Q&A. Then I met Mickey a third time in 2015 during a convention. I was part of the 2nd generation of kids that grew up with the Monkees. When they had their resurgence in the 80's. I can't believe 2 of the members are gone. RIP Davy and now Peter. Thank You for the memories.

    My brother and I were brought up to believe Rock 'n' Roll wasn't real music. But one evening I wanted to postpone doing my homework by watching their opening episode...and I was hooked. I listened to the radio just to hear them, but wound up diving head first into Rock 'n' Roll. We even learned to play guitar with a lesson book "Play Like The Monkees." Eventually we would outgrow them and get into more progressive music, but I can't imagine what my life would have been like without Rock 'n' Roll and if not for the Monkees, we might never have discovered it.

    When I heard that Davy had passed, I cried so hard and I still do when I think about him or listen to their music. Their music is the first I ever owned and I still have the albums. I remember my mom got them for me as a Valentine's present. It was The Monkeys and More of the Monkeys. I'll always treasure those two albums!! I have a CD of their greatest hits and I know every word to every song. I love it. Their music is my favorite and just about the happiest part of my childhood was listening to those albums. I would so love to go back to those days. I loved it then. The world was a much better place.

      I love The Zombies, but what did they have, a small handful of hits? And they broke up before their second LP even came out. And Janet Jackson? What instrument does she play? How many songs has she written? The Monkees should be in the R&R Hall of Fame, but IT WILL NEVER happen. So what if they started on a TV show? They were a real band. They wrote songs, played their instruments and have had a longer career than just about anybody. Nez, Mickey and Peter were all in bands prior to and after The Monkees....kind of hard to do if they were not real musicians. And Davy was a stage performer.

He wandered in to have me fix his glasses back around 1990. Very nice man. We talked about his daughter, a bit about the Monkees. He wasn’t very animated that day but made a nice impression. I was so in love with Davy as a kid. 8 yrs old and singing along to Day Dream Believer. It’s true that pop music is for kids because that is when it happened with me.

    Mike!!! So proud...an american texan no less pronouncing foyer correctly as' foy-yay' rather than foy-yer.

    • @thebusterdog6358
      @thebusterdog6358 5 років тому +2

      "Foy-yay" is the French pronunciation of "Foy-yer" not the Texan pronouciatian. I'm sure Texans pronounce it "Foy-yer".
