I'm so impressed with your fabrication work! You've come a long way from the early episodes. Thanks for taking the time to document your build. Really useful info!
Been loving the content since the first le drift car. I've always appreciated the detail and explanation of everything. It makes for a much more rounded understanding of the entire process. Great work and keep it up!
Love the progress and workmanship! I'd love to practice welding some more to make a cage for my R32 GTR. It's only a street car though. I don't plan to do any serious events, maybe just a track day or something. Keep up the great work!
Always love the DIY videos because its authentic. Don't change a thing. If you heard of Tj Hunt in the UA-cam world, it would be cool to make a collaborative episode since he is building a drift car as well. It would benefit both channels.
Hey man! great video as always. Just wondering, is all the weight you saved now put back on again with the roll cage? obviously I know that you have to have the roll cage so it's definitely less than putting that in with all the interior too. just wondering if you'll end up feeling any difference in the weight after the build is finished, or if you had to put the weight back in again, just curious as I'm looking at caging my build and am also looking at putting in the work in stripping the car too.
Serious question, like that Evo falling off the cliff and the driver walking away without a scratch, would you trust your car rolling off a cliff and you being fine with that cage?
+Arian Sarvi Nope not this cage. This cage is built for a street driven track car that can be legal in any drift event. I would design the cage differently for an all out pikes peak hill climb competition car that's aimed for breaking records on a mountain side road with a cliff drop off. Different application = different cage design.
Hey man, im not sure if this was asked or answered yet, but iv seen some people have issues with welding the top part of the cage near the roof. any tips as to how you did this? or if you have video of you doing it could you post it? by the way thank you for all the awesome videos, full of info, and inspiration to get my 240 going again.
+bulldog0690 The front base plates get removed and the cage can drop down and forward which gives me room to weld around the tops. This will all be covered during the welding portion of the series. My pleasure, I'm just stoked to help people out :)
Hey man. Awesome vids man. Super informative. Sorry if you have answered this already. Are you gonna slap a turbo on the engine in its current condition? Or are you going to do a rebuild and then turbo it?
+Z Johnson Turbo it in this condition because I'll be tuning the car myself. So god forbid I mess something up in the tune while learning I don't want to destroy s rebuilt engine.
+OffBeat Garage Thanks for the reply man. Good thinking though. If it blows then you can rebuild it after you have learned a few lessons. how many miles on the engine btw?
Hmm. You did weld all the way around the tube right? 9/10 times when rally or other race cars get build they either make a hole in the roof or that the roof skin completely of it easier to make a good weld all the way around the tube. Didn't see that i in the video so i'm just wondering. If you didn't do it i would be amazed if you pass tec inspection.
+Rasmus Laursen Yep the cage is welded all the way around the tubes. The front base plates get removed and the cage can get pushed forward and down which gives me room to weld around the top and then I push the cage back and up and put the base plate back and finish welding the cage to the chassis. Also I've spoken to local guys who compete in Pro-Am and they've told me they don't weld the top of the cage and they pass tech fine. Which I honestly think is retarded but yeah haha anyways just wanted to give you some insight into that as well. Thanks :)
Thanks for clarifying. And i must admit that i'm shocked that a car with a rollcage that isn't fully welded can pass tech in pro-am. You will not pass tech inspection at entry level rally where i live if your rollcage i less than perfect. Keep the videos coming. Really enjoy watching the build! :)
Yeah they are a little too lenient on the rules for Pro-Am haha. I've heard rally is super strict though which is nice to hear because those cars get abused! Thanks man I appreciate it :)
Are you going to be doing a drift button mod? I recommend it a lot. Also I hope you know that roof spoiler makes that rear lip useless and any wing you put if you ever do. Very very diminished in use
+Levi Kingston 100 feet of tubing (only need about 60-80 but you'll mess up so need extra) at $2.50 a foot is $250 in tubing. Then $50 in 12 gauge for base plates. And then $100 in welding gas. $50 in random flap discs, acetone, and cut off discs. Total is $450 in material.
Well yeah but that's just material. Most shops take about a week to make a cage which means a week of shop time. $50 a shop hour x 8 hours a day x 5 days of work = $2000 in labor alone. And then you have really well built cages which shops will charge $6k for. You're mainly paying for labor and the better the shop the longer they take and the more expensive the hours are.
Yep you most certainly are. Which is why I made mine haha. To have a shop make my same cage with the clearances I have, and the base plates I have would've been in the $4-6k range.
You seem very concerned about your safety, but I haven't seen you mention anything about your harness you're running, or if you've researched submarining (not the ship, google seatbelt submarining).
*I really like your videos and the overall project you're doing, this is meant as a constructive opinion so please don't take it bad* I think this video was way too long for the actual progress done - it could be easily merged with the roof bars video, that also seemed to take way too much unecessary time. The first videos regarding the roll cage were actually informative on an useful way, but it seems you've been extending the rollcage building for way too long than what would be actually necessary. I understand as an UA-camr you want to create as much content as possible, but just on this video about the first 10 minutes were mostly pointless, repetitive, and the worth to mention parts could be done in very less time. A person watching this video that is also interested on the deeper level of details will surely watch the full series, so there is no need to mention over and over again that notching calculation website, for example. Plus, for a few months on some scenes when you're introducing stuff sitted on your car, it's clear the roll cage is completed for a long time, so I don't think the reason for this few progress on your vids to be lack of anything else new to show. I don't want to sound rude or mean, but it was, at least for me, a bit disapointing to feel into skipping half the video, and then seeing with way too much detail the welding of a few more tubes, when the process is pretty much the same of all the other videos. Please consider my opinion, and most of all, keep up with your great stuff. I'm really loving this project of yours.
+André Fontes It''s pretty simple. I build the cage and when building the cage I see what questions I have and what decisions I have to make when building it. I then address them in the video, unlike every single other roll cage build video I've seen. Trust me I know it's long but this video isn't meant for your watching entertainment. The video is for other people building roll cages, that want their questions answered and want to know about every single aspect that needs to be taken into account when building the roll cage. Thanks,
I understand your position then, and thanks for stopping by and answering. Still, I just meant it was still possible to make an informative video series but, for example, not mentioning some things that were already mentioned on previous videos like that notching calculation website - it could have been simply said the measurements and such, and since someone getting inspiration of your video for own projects will surely watch the full series, it's already mentioned so we'll know what you are doing.
+OffBeat Garage I find your point very good. Keep all those details because nobody wants to search all bits of information together from different videos. I feel like the way you do it is the best way :)
bru when are u gonna do more learning to drift vids.. u need vids like u started with and talk thru the difference all the stuff you have done to your car while you drift and how different it feels
it has been really fun watching you get better at welding. your welds look great, and your metal work has improved so damn much.
That's what I was thinking
These videos are always so educational, I love it. Can't wait to rewatch these when I get the chance to build my own cage.
I'm so impressed with your fabrication work! You've come a long way from the early episodes. Thanks for taking the time to document your build. Really useful info!
Think I may buy a 240, because of this man.
Exactly. 240 is joining the Dark Side.
M20 Swapped 240?
That would be mad!
im sorry but that would b dumb
+Nazty604 maybe s54 s13 ;)
that would b worth cause s54 ;)
Been loving the content since the first le drift car. I've always appreciated the detail and explanation of everything. It makes for a much more rounded understanding of the entire process. Great work and keep it up!
I appreciate the 4:51 in the morning vids brahhhhh keep up the kick ass work
I love how much detail you put into everything you do!
The car will be soo awesome when it is done! :)
I think your the only one that puts effort in their work.... haggard garage
Lmao
This is so nice. Your explanation is damn clear.👍👍
Love the progress and workmanship! I'd love to practice welding some more to make a cage for my R32 GTR. It's only a street car though. I don't plan to do any serious events, maybe just a track day or something. Keep up the great work!

yeah, but offbeat is _building_ one.
Can't wait for it to be done
KEEP THE VIDS COMING BRO 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
These videos are so fascinating
That's a lot of work. I saw all your videos. I left a sub! Keep it up!
YES. SO MUCH YES.
Sick video! Really fun and inspirational watching your build videos and i just cant wait to begin building my s14 kouki! :D
Honestly (from a viewer point of view) it feels like you have been building this cage for like 8 months now.
+John Smith That's cause I have been building it for like 8 months hahaha
That 8 months of effort and planning is going to pay off if he ever rolls..
8 Months of work and then you find out that one bar you did in the beginning is wrong and that you need to redo the whole cage
+Triple CZ I feel like he's smart and thorough enough for that not to happen.
sarcasm dewwwd
do you know how long until you'll be making drifting videos again?
Hey man! great video as always. Just wondering, is all the weight you saved now put back on again with the roll cage? obviously I know that you have to have the roll cage so it's definitely less than putting that in with all the interior too. just wondering if you'll end up feeling any difference in the weight after the build is finished, or if you had to put the weight back in again, just curious as I'm looking at caging my build and am also looking at putting in the work in stripping the car too.
all of a sudden fam, weekly uploads lol
Summer break helps haha
once finished are you going to weld the entire joints for the tubes instead of just tac wielding it?
Love it man keep it up
Yes!
Are you installing a hydro e break
yay new vid!
great vid btw badge is on my car and it looks mad!

+OffBeat Garage true true
Are you going to do any engine work ? Btw the car looks amazing !!
Khife kef in the background music, he'll yeah lol
But good ep offbeat 👍
M8!
where's the super dank awesome dank intro at lel I miss it xD
Love the show man. When are you going to drop a proper motor in? SR or RB?
the Ka is a proper motor
Ka is a proper motor, doesn't have much power input but very reliable engine that can handle the stress
That is if your not already getting there an im just jumping the gun on you lol.

+OffBeat Garage awesome I always wondered how people did that. thank for the info! an I look forward to your new vids!
No problem :)
How much weight do u thint that that the cage Will be when its ready?

squaaaad #teamnosleep
i want that ISR big decal
Great video, but I miss the older style you used to do with the music montages and time lapse!
Hmm. You did weld all the way around the tube right?

+MyLonewolf25 Yep, will have s drift button. That spoiler is 100% for aesthetics lol
***** ok was making sure XD
***** quite frankly I think almost every build should have a drift button... So useful
They really are haha
And is that chief keef in the back ground when u were done welding the cage
+Legit Pc Lol yep
Yes knew it
Still my boy
You should've just put the cage videos all in one , one big cage video
total cost of the cage so far?
comparing to paying a company to build one
+Levi Kingston 100 feet of tubing (only need about 60-80 but you'll mess up so need extra) at $2.50 a foot is $250 in tubing. Then $50 in 12 gauge for base plates. And then $100 in welding gas. $50 in random flap discs, acetone, and cut off discs. Total is $450 in material.
a lot cheaper than the 2K that the companies be asking for

Are you Going KA-T? or Swap ? your building a Dope car mane but you need more power !
ka-t, bruh, look for it in previous videos
What are your plans for the engine? Turbo? Swap?P.S You made me yawn at the end of the video too :D
he said it already - go turbo-KA24 cuz hipster and SR swaps are too common.
Антон Анонимусов Thank you man, I was sure he did say but maybe it was too long ago and I don't remember what exactly he said :)
I just realized that you say "setup" a lot xD
Yo Adel you tryna say hello back ?
R U going to try to join FD???? Cause that would be sick
Ya totally, he's gonna compete with a 155hp KA
+Edwin S14 yea y not lol, he said he was gonna turbo it or swap it to a 2j eventually
+Edwin S14 and i assume you have an S14?
He confirmed a turbo but no swap
+Edwin S14 he said if he were to swap it, it would be a 2j....we'll see. Also how long have u been subbed?
I think u shouldget a ls1
+kion frank Sorry, I like having style lol
i hate v8 engine swapped jdm cars.
Bring back the intro😭
You seem very concerned about your safety, but I haven't seen you mention anything about your harness you're running, or if you've researched submarining (not the ship, google seatbelt submarining).
+RizoProduction Running a Crow 6 Point harness with camlock. And yes I've researched submarining.
***** That's good,
do smth more than turbo
+Mārtiņš Ikers Not necessary

You clearly have no idea how much effort and planning it takes to make a roll cage from scratch

seriously if you totaled it on the track, could you live with yourself?
Dude pls bro no more rollcage videos xD
looks like a rep bride not a authentic
+Alen Garner Lol yeah right. That Bride was bought brand new by Nikita himeself from Evasive Motorsports.
Want to see my certificate of authenticity?
only reason i questioned it, is the bride graduation logo on the top looks like its cut off.
+Alen Garner May look like it whenever you saw it but it's not in person
hell yea good shit, dope ass seat for sure :)
