My names Matt Urch and I own and run Urchfab welding and fabrication.
I specialise in custom automotive fabrication from building roll cages to complete one off builds.
I built the worlds most unique and oldest drift car known as the drift rod which can be found on my channel.
So if your into grinding, welding, fabricating, drifting, going fast etc, your in the right place! - Авто та транспорт
fantastic job. a comment from my old dad who's an old tradesman early 80 says a "ruler"' is a king or queen and a "rule" is what you measure with. I'm just envious of someone who can fabricate and weld like you - best of luck.
The first time I went to England, Nobody knew what a taco was. Now you guys make gussets from them. What a wonderful world. 😎🌮
It sucks working in a cold shop, you will enjoy a bit of heat.
Keep up the great work Matt!!
I saw the heading of your video earlier but couldn't watch it at the time. Now I'm watching your taco gusset video while eating tacos. Thanks for the dinner idea.
I like the term "little wrap-over gusset-type plate things" much better, personally.
Yeh me too.

Grandma's panty gussets?
@@MartinMcMartin LMFAO
I do love a good gusset! Matt, if there's one thing your channel needs more of, it's gussets! Have a like, sir!
I love that you do a little dry run or two with the torch before welding to be sure hand placement works. So many times that gets forgotten and things can get a little wonky. Little things that improve quality. Good on ya.
It just keeps looking better and better.

Matt
So awesome to watch somebody who knows what he is doing
Another shout out for ProFormance! We use them, too.
We're based in central Scotland and we still get deliveries next day, even when we order in the afternoon.
They're a brilliant company to deal with.
Loving these videos!
Definitely keep on clapping!
It also provides a simple way of aligning/syncing two or more audio or video sources in post-production if you ever get a second camera or sound recorder ;-)
Taco gussets? Now I'm hungry for tacos. Thanks Brother. LOL.
A suggestion: for the next non-car related project, make yourself up a small press with the capacity to bend all stock you use regularly for brackets, tabs and such and make up a die or two that would allow you to just drop the pre-bent taco in place, press/form it and done. Would take some time to build proper but long term would save a lot of putskiing around with tube in a vise and clamps. If it has value depends on how many of these you make on regular basis.
Fantastic you tube series. It's a build and tutorial all in one. Brilliant. Thank you for the education on your excellent fabrication skills. 💪😎
Crazy how you pick things up. I am building a motorbike trailer, and the quality is way better than normal for me. I just think "what would Matt do" and be like Matt...... well, maybe if Matt was crosseyed drunk but it's pretty bloody good.
Hahah that's awesome mate I'm happy to help.
Very nice! The OCD in me would want to add 2 small extensions to the bottoms of the X brace to the floor or wheel wells (where ever they would land) in line with the diagonal bars. Cool build!
Exceptional work as usual Matt. Billy J..... From the land down under.
Like a glove!!! Was waiting for that!!
DUDE SAME!!! I laughed way too hard when it came, too :D
It's gunna look wild on the track.
13:25 I like how you test your range of motion before striking your arc. It keeps the weld continuous and pretty.
The attention to detail is extraordinary lovely to watch.
Enjoying the work you do from the cold here in Canada. Inspiring,
You know it's gonna be a good vid when urch does a big clap
You make craftsmanship look so simple Matt.
More great work Matt, keep it coming mate.
Excellent work as usual. Look forward to seeing the build progressing.
Dealt with ProFormance in a previous job and they’re awesome, very knowledgeable and friendly, top people.
Who doesn't love a good taco??? Taco's Taco's Taco's
Your craftsmanship is a thing of beauty.
brilliant work, fantastic welding.
"like a glove..." - Matt you have a real great skill of making complicated fabrication tasks in to nice and easy to follow processes for the rest of us to follow. I like the fact that you often use basic tools to do it too, making these processes available to most of your viewers.
Nice work Matt, always a pleasure!
Great fab work great videos great content coming on now
I like that you practice your weld bead run before every weld. Thanks for doing these!
I am jealous about your weldingskills
New T-Shirt idea. "Like a Glove". Brilliant as always. My Murch arrived yesterday, nice one. Thanks Matt.
Use Proformance every week. Brilliant service, brilliant product
Amazing pal UNBELIEVABLE
Damn it Taco's.. now i'm hungry .. as always good work
I never see myself building a cage but after watching your vids and how in-depth you explain what and why your doing I believe I could build one.
Another great video.....”Like a glove!”
Who’s the man!!!!!!! Got my T shirt yesterday and it fits “Like a glove”. keep up the great work and thanks for all the brilliant information you give so freely.
like a glove.... awesome videos keep them up
You have some great skills.
Cheers from Florida. Love this build. Keep up the good work and look forward to more videos.
Excellent work Matt. some cage that!
Progress in many departments buddy going well and pleased you getting some heat 👍
Good work! That body is so rusty! I'm waiting to see it all clean after blasting.
Me to!
Attaboy! Loving the progress.
Great job Matt, looks sweet. Cheers
Always look forward to ur videos matt
Nice work as always bud
Another great video, you should have a T shirt with " like a glove " on it 🤔
Agreed, urch appears to have adopted a catchphrase. 👍
hi good job if you had put the taco gussets at the side you could have used the holds as brake lights lol nice work
Oh your nice welds!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️. Oh to be able to weld like that! Stay warm. Its -9 with a howling wind on this late fall day.
Another great video! Glad you get your heater. All the best from France.
Great work as Always.. Keep it going. You'll need that heater now it's dropped cold.
Got my T shirt 👚 yesterday, great quality and service.
Awesome, thanks for the support. Cheers
Giday Matt. You should see if there is any cnc plasma cutting services in your area and get them to cut your gussets with your logo...great advertising for people looking for roll cages.. Great videos keep it up👍🏻
Jordan's Country Crisp... somebody's doing alright.
Top guy. Love your work.
Nice work, as always.
Thanks for the build tip man! Came in handy 😁
Can't beat a good gusset !!
Great video. The clamp lamp was a great tip. Thanks! : )
Love the vids man!! Keep them coming!!!
On your die, you can now show us how to plug weld aluminum. Besides teaching me a lot about welding, you always (may not intentionally) make me laugh. Thanks for everything.
Missed some videos but holy crap this thing going to be crazy awesome I like how its looking so far
Sweet. Nice work.
Nice work Matt, The MONGREL is Looking Really Good, Hopefully we might see you get the mk2 Escort out after this build is done ?.
You might. Cheers
Mk2 Escort. First car I drove in the snow. Fishtails galore and a sphincter going 5 pence, 50 pence.
congrats on the new supplier.
I've been working on a Baja Bug for too many years myself. The rollcage was the most challenging part. Wish I found your channel a couple of years ago. I must say you do lay down some seriously sweet welds on tubing.
Good work keep the videos coming
Very nice work, the fillets really add to the function and look of the cage. I like to give the bits a blast of weld through primer before welding as can be hard to treat after welding. I got some great stuff from buzzweld in Bristol, makes a good difference.
Looks real cool Matt. You'll soon need a tailgunner. Can't wait to see you finish the car.
I love this build... I really wish I could get a left hand drive version for daily driving.
Nice work. Keep on.
BTW, a freind used to use a piece of string between the uprights of any structure to align the cross pieces.
Like a glove again 😂😂
Got me new hoodie plus got a £10 voucher and now just ordered the T shirt to
Cheers
thank you for the tip.
Awesome series lovin it
Muy bien saludos desde Honduras
I admire and respect you , always look forward to your videos, another antipodean follower.
Hey Matt,,, On your Dice there,,,
All the Holes opposite of each other, added together 5 + 7 + 9 still equals up to 21....lol
Glad your getting some HEAT, man....
I give up on dice, from now on an urchfab dice comes with the numbers wherever they land. Cheers
Can you put an inspection lamp inside the car for better viewability for the videos full time please ?
One of those magnetic rechargeable led ones .
Loving these videos .
Yep I've been saying I need to do that for the past 5 years.
Oh to be able to weld like that
Do it everyday for long enough and you could weld better than that.
Like someone had said in another video.
A compilation of your “Like a glove” comments would be hilarious!
Like a glove 😂 I hope that there's an old teacher of yours out there watching that thought you'd never do anything good, is now thinking wow I was so wrong about that boy, he's an awesome welder and fabricator 😉👍 not so good at remembering to make the opposite sides of a die add up to seven, class after you made a point of saying it and then cocked it up, that's the sort of thing I'd do when showing g my son how to (or not) do something right 😂
There will be a few of those teachers for sure, I doubt any of them watch this though. Cheers
Either find them on FB and send them a UA-cam link or when the Mongrel is complete, do some donuts in the teachers car park LOL! @@Urchfab
CAT approves. He will come to visit one day.
Did somebody say tacos! Great vid Matt
This is the most serous roll cage i’ve seen
Gussets !
Love the vids man , for sure keep clapping.
Great video...and I had a feeling that your 'dice' arithmetic would be out...Dunno why but THAT has to be the giveaway dice...
“like a glove” 🤣
👏👏👏Like a glove 👏👏👏
It's definitely getting a bit parky now.
Hope the heater will help.
You’ll be glad of that heater, it’s bloody baltic
Love your work bro!! it's a very pleasant 36c down here in Australia!! if it gets too cold_________!!
I'm on route!
Dude u rock
Something we should tacobout is if you strung a tarp from wall to wall at the eves height it might hold some of the heat down plus it's cheap n easy to do.
Can't imagine this took place a year ago... Now dedicated follower. #mongrel
Looks great, how about a piece of angle bar with a notch taken out of one side the diameter of the tube. This would line up your two diagonals ? You could even clamp it if needed. Keep up the good work!
