    Just follow the rules for the slope. Adding ballast tames the turbulence some and smoothed out the flight. On one windy day I almost doubled the weight of my core flute zaggi wing.

    Nice Video, thank you. A warning to all USA buyers from Banggod, shipments are being delays for lots of people (Not Banggoods fault). I have a drift that changed from 15 days to 2 months for delivery. Been sitting in ISC Chicago for over 18 days. Banggood did what they said and got it processed and shipped out quick, but USPS is slow walking the mail in Chicago at least. I found one at a local retailer in kit form and love the little plane! Please do get one of these planes, just be ready to wait for it.

    Thanks for first rate and very useful content as always! But don't worry about so-called 'downwind stalls', that is a very widespread misconception in the RC community. The plane's reference point is not the ground, but the mass of air that it flies in, and that will not change character at all in a turn. The plane does not care about the ground and has no idea whether it's going up- or downwind. Stall is related only to angle of attack, which is determined by elevator input, period. Trust me, it's pure physics. So what might make models stall going downwind, is the fact that the pilot perceives them to go faster - as his reference point is the ground - and unconsciously slows them down in relation to this false reference point. As long as we don't adjust the elevator, wind direction will never stall us. That said, turbulence can always stall us. But that is nothing to do with horizontal wind direction, it's a result of changing vertical components in oncoming air. You won't stall over the road so long as you leave the elevator alone. And the Kopilot will not make that mistake, it doesn't have the massive mental capacity required to be misled by a false reference point the way even the best RC pilots are from time to time.

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  4 роки тому

      Thanks for your explanation but you're ignoring the transition period between upwind ground speed and downwind ground speed. Thats when the plane is being accelerated by the moving airmass pushing from behind. Cant get acceleration without an external force.

    • @Videolinquency
      @Videolinquency 4 роки тому

      @@AndrewNewton The point is that there is no transition. The plane flies through a homogenous mass of air throughout the turn. The air mass does not change during your turn, and the plane has no magic ties to the ground. Think of the turn maneuver as centered around a drifting toy ballon to see the principle of an air reference point. The ground fallacy is ingrained in nearly all modellers, but virtually non-existant in full sizers, even the amateur ones, as their natural reference point is the air. Trust me, there is no acceleration going on except the centrifugal force around a point that moves with the air. Or refer to a tutorial Bruce Simpson posted a couple of years ago. He is to my knowledge the only modeller who has ever addressed this misconception. Try to think of a boat circling in a flowing river; that is a helpful analogy. Its water speed is constant even though it seems to vary in relation to the banks.

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  4 роки тому +1

      Yes it's an interesting and complex topic. I need to devise a simple test to show what I'm talking about. Newtons First Law is the key. Inertia

    • @Johan-ex5yj
      @Johan-ex5yj 4 роки тому

      @@AndrewNewton
      My experience in Paragliding showed me it takes time for an aircraft to adapt to changes in wind speed. *In other words, inertia is important.* When you come in to land in strong wind the Paraglider (PG) will be trimmed for fast flight, if you now descend into an area of no wind (wind shadow behind a line of trees for example), the PG will dive forward to try and adapt to the new airspeed. If you did not have the height to recover from this dive you will crash face first into the ground. In lighter wind, you will be flying slower (closer to stall speed) then if you go into a wind shadow, the PG will instantly stall and you will fall out of the sky vertically (called parachutal stall in PG circles) and land on your back!

    I'm not keen on those self leveling I reckon they make it too hard to turn the models around, making it easier to blow away!

    As a novice pilot, I didn't have as good of a day the other day when the winds were up. I knew better but I wanted to get it up with the newly installed Matek 411-Wing board installed. Repairs have been made and I'm ready to hit the field again for another try. What are your thoughts on adding a flaperon function to this fun flyer? Particularly for landing in more restrictive space as it can glide for days off of the ground effect.

    Hi Andrew, I bought one of these little beauties and thoroughly enjoy it - thanks to your review btw!! Your videos are super informative and most of what I've learned comes from you - thank you. I have a question which you might be able to help me with, I am starting to learn how to fly in FPV and am currently using the ZOHD VC400 paired with Skyzone Cobra X. As I'm new, I would very much like to get the OSD to show altitude. I have a CAT01 that sends altitude to my FlySky i6x but I can't keep taking the goggles off to check altitude - I wear reading glasses and that makes it logistically hard as the glasses remain in the goggles. Additionally, whilst not critical, it would be nice to display an artificial horizon and home direction arrow. Do you have any suggestions, recommendations, or even videos that may guide me? Thanks in advance and please keep up the excellent videos.

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  3 роки тому +1

      You will need a flight control board with OSD chip to overlay the data on to the video. Cant do that with your board and camera. Have a look at my FPV and INAV playlists
