  • In this video I introduce you all to my new project SUV. This SUV was very expensive in 2008 at $75,000 (in 2023 money, this car was worth $114,000), it’s cheap in 2023 and I only paid $5,500. But there are reasons why it’s was cheap, it’s a super risky purchase! The known issues are very expensive to resolve. Valve seals $8,000 to $10,000. Coolant leak $2,000 to $3,000. Active suspension $3,000 to $6,000, etc., etc..
In this video I also cover the rewards. Super clean SUV with no major issues at this point. Very good paint, excellent interior, everything works and it still is the best looking SUV on the road today (in my humble opinion).
I also cover in detail the options on the car, provide some clarity regarding them, and how to identify them.

I just bought the same car. (Black) same miles… $3000 replaced a water hose and it seems to be good so far… fingers crossed…
    Thanks for the video!

What a great walk around review. Thank you. I am at this point right now. X5 available to buy for decent price. Wanting to downside from our fully loaded 2008 Chev Tahoe. The sticker price on my Tahoe was 78,500. Was great for the family but now looking to something a bit smaller and sporty. Looking for a good “base” to carryon with. X5 May be it.

Only things this one is missing that you haven’t mentioned is the leather dash, 20”staggered wheels with fender flares, lane assist, great car for $5500. The N62 has its fair share of problems but if you have the means to fix/maintain it it sounds great and makes good power.

You should watch the videos on the issues and improvements I’ve made over the last year. For the last month or so I’ve had nothing to do so I sold the X5 and will now begin to look for another new deal.

These are good SAV’s. They do have their known issues but even with those present they are quite reliable. I found a local guy that does the VSS replacement for $1500, got those done and oil consumption dropped a lot and no more smoke after extended idle. Drove mine from Los Angeles, California to Kennebunkport, Maine and back within a week, not one single issue whatsoever… and when you get tired, you can pull over and sleep fairly comfortably in the back. Quite happy with mine. Mine is an m package so comes with m steering wheel and m rims and was optioned out by its previous (1 owner)
I do have the adaptive suspension but really can’t tell the difference when it’s on or off, always feels the same to me, even when spirited driving. It’s an option I personally wouldn’t have taken as the adaptive suspension is quite costly to repair when it goes wrong. Mine is an 09.

I have a video on the X5 on my expense so far. While I picked it up for next to nothing (considering all the options on it), I do think they’re great SAV’s. That being said, and understanding the fact that mine is now 16 years old, they do seem to require some work. Please look at my playlist on UA-cam on this SAV. It covers quite the work, and I wouldn’t change a thing! I love it!

@@x-coastieslowly making my way through your videos! They are very informative and seem to cover everything I want/need to do. Have you flushed/changed or drain and refilled your transmission fluid yet?
In this next week I hope to be getting a 2014 (f-15) X5 50i …been wanting one for awhile now, they seem to have gobs of power (and some, gobs of problems as well) …. we’ll see…..

Not sure what a radiator fan swim is???? If you mean the fan switch, that’s located in the upper radiator hose. You should see the Temp Sensor and it click into the hose.

You have a leak in the EVAP system. Most likely the detection pump.

Valve seals done by BMW is $8000-$10,0000 other shops don't charge that much.

Geez! Since this is an extra car, I’ll probably take on the project myself if it comes to it.

@@x-coastie You posted those prices i’m going by what you wrote at the bottom of this video lol.I think those prices are a little too high even for BMW, for valve stem repair.
