    Yeah, Horse Girl needed to see a therapist before she tried DnD. There is a lot to unbag there and I wouldn't even know where to start. I was going to fall under the DM for not putting up much more of a fight until the part where they were actually trying to get HG to get help. Hopefully she did take the hint of doing it and actually got some help. I feel if she got the help she needed, she would be a much better person

      Yeah people all too often use the escapism aspect of TTRPG as a substitute for theory. It most certainly is not enough!

    Incapable of separating player from character, smothering another PC with unwanted affection, and many other issues that may seem passive, but ultimately lead to big problems. Definitely seemed like a problem player even before the big drops.

    Tbh......horse girl lived up the westeros realism more than anyone.
    here here!
    Though after the first game, she shoulda had no char protection against doing stupid stuff and should have to see if she can successfully fight her way out fights she starts.

    If you ask me, Horse Girl is honestly more in line with ASoIaF as a setting than any of the other characters. Her character is essentially an exaggerated amalgam of three different canon Stark girls - Sansa, Arya, and Lyanna. Their version of Westeros is altogether really weird in my opinion. There are gender-equal Northern noble houses (no, there most definitely are not), there are bastards with happy backgrounds and home lives (if you know anything about the legal standing of bastards in Westeros, you'd understand why that cannot be a thing), characters don't have a kill-on-sight policy with regards to bandits and highwaymen (I _guess_ I could see this kind of soft-heartedness for a Red Priest, _maybe,_ but he'd still be an absolute oddity), there is such a thing as a "medieval fantasy rehab" for some reason (what do you think this is, Discworld??)... it's okay to want to play more idealistic characters and stories that are "good" by modern standards, but then why did you pick ASoIaF as a setting?? Also, some things in this story really smell like GM favoritism... and then GM digs up Horse Girl's most likely private writing, presumably without her consent. I am kind of curious as to what that story looks like from the other side.

    The fact that she absolutely just tore a hole through everything she was apart of. I dont think she liked the single guy of the group as a fact of actual likeness but he is a guy and she wanted the guys to fawn over her. In her mind it was whenever she met a guy NPC or character it would be: "oh no this poor girl who has gone through such a hard life, I'll protect her!". However In ASOIAF most people have a harsh backstory so no one is going to fawn over just another person with a horrible past.

    Since I was looking at something else, I thought the ‘oof’ dagger was what she really called it for a minute there. It still made sense to me, she’s described to be a jokester. Then I got confused why you said it the exact same the second time, looked over, and my heart dropped

    Honestly, when I was about halfway through, with the way she chose a bastard backstory and played so hard into the pity party, had no reaction to all the anti-woman stuff in the game, and her dagger's nickname, I was worrying about what her home life must have been like.

    Man I use to be in a MMO guild with someone Horse Girl reminds me of for some reason, we'll call them "Moon Moon". Same very naive type of role player who didn't "get it" and was very much living in her own mental fantasy about her character and was always making "enhancements". Basically acted like a bad anime protagonist for the most part, but then started to get pretty hard into femdom and became weirdly misanthropic, started just picking fights with the male characters in our group. She'd say and do the most bizarre things sometimes, but to be clear, she wasn't "hated" OOC, or even IC for the most part, it was just a case of "gosh I wish you'd just do BETTER and be less confusing". We were a pretty relaxed group with low standards for the most part, there were a few edgelords, but it wasn't a particularly edgy guild. Societally though, we were in a fascist state and she had a tendency to go rogue on outings, so it ended with "Okay, we're going to have to actually punish your character this time, this behavior has gone too far" and her just gquitting rather than accepting consequences for her character's actions. 😅 I think by that time she realized her character growth had plateaued because without some appropriate increase in character maturity or at least a change in behavior, the GMs and senior players simply weren't going to let her progress. It's a little sad, but as far as I know, she ended up in a lesbian ERP guild and is completely happy.

    The minute I've heard about the "good homebrew House that is an embodiment of everything good and kind" the OP lost me.
    Why the hell take a harsh setting and then insert "good guys" instead of just picking another bloody setting? I'll never understand that and I'll always resent people who do that. It's bad taste.

    • @lootgoblinmarketplace
      @lootgoblinmarketplace  Рік тому +8

      Yeah, it is a weird choice to try and have a “blatant good guys” faction when it’s really a setting of picking the lesser of two evils.

      It could work if they were portrayed as having an 'honor before reason' attitude. That way their virtues could also be a problem depending on the situation. Kinda like how Ned Stark still tried to do what he thought was right even though he knew it would probably just get him killed.

    • @countrygeneral
      @countrygeneral Рік тому +3

      @@Athetos_Admech the existence of one person who is "honor before reason" in such a setting is more than justified. But a political entity like that wouldn't survive in it longer than 10 years, unless it was completely isolated from other Houses and their intrigues.

    • @Athetos_Admech
      @Athetos_Admech Рік тому +1

      @@countrygeneral I agree that you would need a good explanation to justify such a faction in that setting. Maybe they would be tolerated as a buffer between the other houses and whatever dangers are further north? Or maybe it's just the current leader of that house who has that attitude and others are using his moral sensibilities to manipulate him.

    Idk maybe just me in how when I hear these stories compared to most when it comes to these and other things my mind less goes the no you shouldn't do that. That's bad.
    And more a, huh it sounds like a very socially awkward girl who doesn't know how to actually speak to others or read the room case. Of a ah shouldn't talk about that topic, to hearing being closer to what nothing is wrong with it, it's just like any other joke or topic. To not really enjoy talking with other girls possibly aside the gm and mainly talks with guys.
    Possibly do to the writing case possibly has had bad experience with other girls in the past and tried hard to make friends with them like she did in the game but lead to basically what went down in game from there.
    To even a sad backstory being a case in there mind as a way to make a actual connection and feeling like "ah there just like me I can get along with them" to even hoping they have one despite not, to cling onto them in some way since not sure how to speak to others without possibly.
    This is simply my own interpretation of things said and easily could be wrong but for sure in the case she needed some therapy to talk with something's no doubt.

      TTRPG's are historically male dominated, even now they are still majority male. so the term for a problem player is male due to many examples of male players doing shitty things.
      its the same reason the nightmare customer is referred to as a karen, because while there are men who cause issues the stereotype was built from negative experiences with mostly women
