Thanks Liam! To any skeptics out there, its possible to get really good in 12 months if you practice routinely. I started teaching myself blues harmonica about 13 months ago practicing every nite for one hour. I started out with UA-cam lessons and advanced to backing tracks. Now I'm at the point where I can just riff without a backing track. Good luck to all just starting out! Just remember -- learning harmonica quickly is easy but mastering it takes a lifetime.

That's so good that you practice every night for an hour! So pleased you're advancing. I agree - learning is easy but mastering takes a lifetime!

There’s just one problem with that - I don’t find it easy to learn. And I’m a multi-instrumentalist

If you're talking about the 5 draw on a C harp, it won't bend because of the physics of bending. You can only bend between the tone of the blow reed and the tone of the draw reed. 5 draw is only a halfstep above 5 blow, so you'll only get the slightest bend on it.

Great advice, thankyou. I picked up the harmonica some years ago and got to play a few tunes but am really interested in the blues. The trouble is when I first picked up the instrument no one told me how to hold it so I ended up holding it back to front with the high and low notes reversed. I am so used to it now I cant seem to change it. Luckily your tabs enable me to follow along regardless.

Some great players play "reversed" so you're not the only one. Thanks for watching and best of luck with your playing!

Only if you never want to progress and get better. It’s a shortcut for being able to hack around the pentatonic scale. No chords, no octaves, no thanks.

Do you have any recommendations on which to but i was thinking of buying the
    hohner crossover harmonica key c

I recommend Hohner Special 20 for beginners. Crossover is great but more expensive and may not be worth the extra cash for a beginner.

I need some help i have issues with hole 8 draw. At first i couldnt do it at all and i thought it was cus of my harmonica (suzuki blues harp) so i bought anohter one (lee oskar) but i also couldnt... After switching back to the suzuki sudenly i can ? But instill cant on my lee oskar, after i keep trying to draw a few times i get sound but if i start playing normaly it wont work again, also the blow 7 sounds weird sometimes. What am i doing wrong? I dont have any issues with single notes also no issues with other holes. But 8 wont work well...

Hello. Does it matter what key of harmonica you learn on. I only a B blues harmonica and have been noodling around on it. Trying to very simple stuff from well known songs. Cheers Andy.

you'll want to pick up a C harp for sure and probably an A harp as well. A B harp won't be used all that often because in cross harp or 2nd position you would be playing in the key of F#. B and F# are not typical keys for most common music. C would be G in cross harp and A would be E in cross harp. Get yourself a good playing harmonica like a Hohner Special 20 or Seydel Session Steel. hope this helps and good luck!

I echo what @peterallenjensen said - pick up a C harp for sure!
Thanks for your kind words @mk5586! Appreciate it.

For your US viewers, use the phrase, "when you draw": not "suck" 😅
Really must pick up the harmonica again. I'm not good at keeping up things I really wish I was already good at 😕
