Harmonica is one of those instruments where, until you attempt it, it looks almost comical. And then you realize exactly how much nuance there is to playing it even passably well. To be this good is not only a lifetime of practice, but a once-in-a-generation talent.
From the box, the typical harmonica has 10 holes - equal to 19 tones (there is a one repeated tone depending on whether you blow or suck the chord). But it is more complicated - you can play half tones by either sucking the air hard, or by blowing (and this technique is super hard to be done correctly). I've been playing the harmonica for several years in the band. After about three or four years I was able to copy almost every simple melody, but what this guy is doing this is unachievable-level-god. Super, super hard.
He is playing these pieces on a diatonic harmonica... whoaaaa... all those bending and overblowing to get the half notes would be sheer impossible to achieve even at very slow speeds, let alone at those tempos and with such musicality. A true master indeed.
My dad could play harmonica and for his birthday one year my mom bought him a really good chromatic harmonica. Well that was it!! He loved it and so did we! I can still hear him in my head. I love you dad...
@bunkyman8097 I bought my Dad a chromonica with my proper first weeks wages in 1982 and had it engraved to him. It was £51. I have it here in front of me, its well worn and still has a smell of him when I play my basic stuff. Oh how I wish we had phones back in the 80's 90's and early 0's when he was alive 😢
The sad thing is that people have no clue how hard each of those songs are in the harmonica! The first one was so beautiful and played so amazingly that it was breathtaking! That was the easy one! What he did on the second and 3rd song was on the border of impossible! Yet he made it seem so easy! It was utterly and completely amazing!!!!

Wow. Extraordinary. Didn't know the notes could be played and heard independently. Always heard 2 or more being played. My papa gave me and my brother harmonicas when we were 6 and 7 never learned to play well.
Never gets old! It's like bringing a whole orchestra in that tiny harmonica! Bravo!!
You can tell the exact moment when the crowd went from "huh what a novelty" to absolutely mindblown. In that moment he fulfilled his dream, to hold carnegie hall enraptured with his harmonica. It makes me emotional to watch 😂
Death/prog/thrash metal musician here. I was one of those people who where like.... oh ... harmonica.... I bet that's an easy instrument....... boy was I wrong. I have a set of them.... and that shit ain't easy. Mad respect for this gentleman. 👏 👏👏👏👏 🤘🤘🤘
The overture of "Wilhelm Tell" (G. Rossini) played on a harp: marvelous!
my harmonica just got delivered this morning (1st musical instrument) and thought let's watch some tutorials and somehow I ended up here after watching 2-3 tutorials and practicing for about 20 mins and THAT'S IT GUYS IM THINKING OF RETURNING MY HARMONICA.
No matter how many times I've listened to this the moment he breaks off into Joy of Man's Desiring I get goosebumps
God-given talent. Practicing only enhances any talent God gives. Praise be to God. Thank you ,Mr.Green.
Wow! That was as entertaining as it was impressive. I thoroughly enjoyed it... Instruments are easy to play, but incredibly hard to master... IDK if people understand how hard it is to be this good on a harmonica... Popper definitely knows.
00:30 "Oh, Susanna!", by Stephen Foster (1848).
00:58 "Cantata BWV 147: Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring", by Johann Sebastian Bach.
02:12 "Sonata No. 16 in C Major, K.545 (1st Mvt) , by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
02:37 "Wilhem Tell overture, final part", by Giacomo Rossini. Also known as "The Lone Ranger TV series song".
Even the short rendition of Oh Susanna was extremely impressive. I don't think most people's grandpas play it like that!
So apparently my dog likes harmonicas! I played this and she got super excited!
我再小时候76年就喜欢吹口琴!已有很多年没有再吹奏了,看了这个视频,口琴大师的吹奏感慨万千!我要从新找回我童年的感觉!祝大师快乐!
This inspires me and I blast it through the speakers when my neighbors get bothered by my classical guitar practicing.
Never trigger a harmonica artist...🙏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

We got there in the end brother. I remember thinking the same thing. The man needs more than 2 million, but at least after 3 years we've got here :-)
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 That harmonica sounds like a whole orchestra. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾Nice.
Adorable. Takes me back to my childhood. We didn’t have orchestras but there was always someone who played the harmonica

@@chriswelcome8102 in some countrys like mine people call accordion a harmonica and this a mouth harmonica
Even 12 years passed, this clip is still legendary.
The harmonical has a cheerful soulful sound. I want to learn.
The human spirit and talent, expressed and shared thru the humble harmonica.... is nothing short of amazing. Thank you Buddy Green!
I don't see anything humble about it.
Simply Magnificent, beyond words! What a tragic loss, yet too, what a wonderful experience for those of us who saw and heard his wonderful talent.
I'll come back here 25 years later! Hopefully I'll play like him!
First full song is called cantata 147 (also called Jesu joy of man desiring). My favorite classical piece.
It’s definitely one of Bach’s finer pieces, to be sure.

I _love_ it at the end when the crowd yells YAY!
Who shouts yay like that unless it's just a gut reaction to triumph?
Maybe we need a president who plays the harmonica. When things get rough, pull out the harp and play Shenandoah.
I think that would help things along.
Brings back memories. When I was a kid my dad was a harmonica player.
A big congratulations ! A real genuius !!! Thank you very much sir Buddy Greene.
Absolutely AMAZING !!!!! Mindblowing performance👏👏 Very very difficult, superb control in breathing
Nothing short of fantastically outstanding, the very best!!!
To sum it up in one word, the title for this man here is Maryland. The man is a wizard at this man. Did the lone ranger theme song bro. I'm blown away
Thank God harmonia is not dead. Love it
And it’s not even his harmonica playing ability that’s his best part . It’s his personality what a nice guy.
Amazing and unbelievable but his hard work is seen in every node.
