This is the best '10,000 steps a day' video on UA-cam. I've watched almost all of them lol and this really ticks all the boxes. I already walk about 12,000 steps (2 hours+) but I LOVE walking and am fanatical about it being what us humans are meant to do. Thank you for your wonderful video xx
I am a long time touring comedian and decided to start walking on my birthday March 14th. I’m 59 and was a lot more out of shape than I thought. I started with about 2000 steps a day and it took about three weeks to get to 10,000. To date I have done 40 days in a row and feel fantastic even though my legs are still sore every day. I watch videos as I walk and found this one. Very well stated and helpful. Thank you! This is a new way of life! 👌👍
Dobie. What an inspiring story! I'm so happy to hear that walking has changed your life. It has changed mine too. :) (And my b-day is March 16 - pretty close!)
Walking has been a habit of mine for as long as I can remember and I can confirm that it's one of the things that keeps my lazy barely exercising ass from being completely unfit. Didn't realize how much I walk until I accidentally checked the Health app on my iPhone. Turned out I walk 10 km per day on average (easily up to 25-30 km on a sunny day with more free time).
I used to run every single day and was not loosing weight...then due to family circumstances...I stopped running and gained lots of fat....it was becoming impossible for me to make time for workout..but then I decided to start walking whenever and as much as I could...I lost weight and got much fitter... One thing people ignore is that we are designed to walk by nature...we used to run only when chased by predators or hunting for prey...or in danger...so the sub conscious categorizes running the same way and gets body into fat storing mode...
Hey Chase. Exactly what I needed. Something easy but at the same time efficient. I am so glad I was managed to watch this video before the New Year. Things like that really works for me....little steps every day. I did something similar with the French every day for the last cca 190 days and the results for me are astonishing. I have just decided to join you in your challenge 10000steps for the entire year. I am so hyped 😊 Thany you my friend for another great inspiration 😊
I just stumbled on your channel, thabk you for the inspiration, I have been walking since the 16th of January this year and today is the 2nd of February, I have been walking 10k with a calorie deficit (1500 -1600), I have lost a lil under 3kg so far (from 70.2 kgs to 67.6 kgs) in lbs from 154.7 to 149
I am on day 5. I have MS and walk with a walking stick and I am hitting my 10000 steps a day. As someone who has been inactive for so long my feet hurt and legs hurt and for some weird reason my shoulder hurts when walking as well. But so far it is going well
Hey! Don't be afraid to reduce the goal to something that doesn't work. You could always do - 6k, then 7k, then 8k, then 9k, then 10k... and work your way up. :) Just a thought. Progress > Pain.
@@ChaseBarron it’s getting easier the more I do it. Just taken the last 3 days off as I fell into a ditch when 2 dogs rammed their fence and I rolled my foot but should be back to it tomorrow 🙂🙂 need to keep moving forward and the pain while uncomfortable for a few days will subside. I let myself get to stagnant and it is also really helping me mentally. I started eating a bit better in may and started at 154.7kg I am now down to 133.9 kg so near 21 kg down. Now I am able to throw in some exercise so I am starting with walking and when I get comfortable with the 10000 steps I will throw in some yoga ( found a good vid for beginners on UA-cam )
I've been working from home since March too and have been lucky enough to be able to walk outside almost daily through a forested park nearby, definitely helps with the sanity!
I've always been told that if I go running, I should always do a cool down walk after. So there were times I would run a super fast 4-5 miles and then have a nice and relaxing walk after for probably the same amount. The reason was to work on form so when I started doing long distance 10+miles that it would have less stress and impact and then I would walk after those runs too. Idk if that's actually how it works, just looking for some insight if your community might have.
Good stuff! 👏🙂🤙 I would walk as a warm up and cool down for sure! Developing good running form is essential if you want it to be a net benefit. Watch lots of videos, maybe even get a “coach” of sorts.
Been doing the same! (not 10k tho). Since I sit at my desk all day long I try to walk every morning before starting my tasks and every afternoon. It gives so much mental clarity.
One thing people ignore is that we are designed to walk by nature...we used to run only when chased by predators or hunting for prey...or in danger...so the sub conscious categorizes running the same way and gets body into fat storing mode...
Good for doing 10 months im onto 2 year not missed a day walking 10k on my Apple watch the most steps i did in one day is 70,000k aiming for the 100k challenge this Spring...
Was a 40 mins HIIT (high interval intensity training) day. Well running for 40 mins, VO2 max high but I totally agree with you regarding the benefits. Gonna walk now. Thanks brother. And love the view. Goooood morning.
Since going into lockdown in March, I have been walking my dogs just to get out of the house. Looks like 2021 needs to keep 2020s walking routine and add intake monitoring.
In this case the second law of thermodynamics says that no matter what process takes place inside the container, its entropy must increase or remain the same in the limit of a reversible process. All of you calories in / calorie out people, read that again.
I've been walking 30 minute 5 days a week with Mcgill big 3 and lifting twice a week. Dr. Stuart Mcgill said walking is the back balm of nature. So true.
Great video with an excellent topic. I always advocate the benefits of walking 😎 There's always so much that I want to comment hahahaha but that would be crazy. Another interesting topic would be emotional eating... to distinguish the hunger or cravings 🤔. What do you think?
If anti-aging were in a pill - I'd call it "walking" or "daily movement" - I work with a lot of elderly fitness clients and the ones who keep moving AMAZE me... even into their 90s!
I totally agree that 10k is too much for a daily walk. I certainly don't advocate for getting all 10k in one walk. But whatever you goal is, get it however you can throughout the day. :) Just get up and go whenever you can.
@@ChaseBarron Dear sir thank you for reply short distance jogging may be as beneficial because you cram in more intensity might save you a bit of time because its a lot of walking all your life anyway all the best and good health to you regards

Woah!!! That’s a pleasant surprise. Get it. ✊👏🤙
This was inspiring. Tomorrow will be day 1! Aiming for 10k a day for 30 days then taking it from there
Let me know how it goes! Don’t be afraid to start smaller if 10k seems big👌🤙
Howd it go boss?

Really enjoyed this take on walking,On my walk this Morning ,I met an 84 year old walker so inspiring
It keeps you going!
Well explained! Thank you for sharing. I am 2 days in tracking my steps. 10,000 a day!
Keep it up. That's awesome news. :)

I find it a LOT better to spread the walking thruout the day....with a taper toward bedtime to get body quietness.

Our everyday Chase. I'm getting used to this.
Shucks 😊
love this. also pittsburg looks so pretty - cold but pretty
Pittsburgh is great. And yes - winter is cold, but summers are HOT. We get the best of all seasons in PA, but they hit hard sometimes.
@@ChaseBarron Suddenly intrigued by Pittsburgh. 4 Seasons in SoCal: Lakers, Awards, Dodgers, Summer.

Good question!!! Noted 📝
Walking snacks where you spread your steps over the whole day is a great hack. People often get burned out on steps because they trek.

Nice!!!
an object in motion stays in motion, i love that ;)
High impact is a BIG factor. You can easily walk 10 hours. Try running for 4 hours. Equivalent calories burned.
Walking is more sustainable in the long run.

Great topic suggestion. I’ve had that come in a few times.
Love hearing from you - the enthusiasm is contagious. 🙂🙏👍
One step at a time in the Now, but 10 thoughts ahead into the Future.
I did 43 days of 10k steps then my girlfriend broke up with didnt really feel like walking that day but back to day 1
Now you can try to get 44 days in a row!
Well I'm English so we walk everywhere, I dont even have a car 😀😀 I highly recommend walking.
very cool. Across the pond, it’s a different story 😂 our feet are designed to press gas peddles and/or board busses
Challenge accepted!
Right on. Just in time for the new year! :)
Well I walk almost 5 days a week for last 20 years or so. But it is between 5000 and 6000 steps. Don't know had I gained anything good for health.

It’s actually very easy when listening to audio books or podcasts. I usually do 15k
How long does 10,000 steps take for a slow walker?
