    FILM SYNOPSIS♡
Disney tackles Greek mythology in this animated feature. Hercules (Tate Donovan), a son of gods, was snatched as a baby by Hades (James Woods) and forced to live among mortals as a half-man, half-god. Now a teenager, Hercules needs to perform a rite of passage on Earth to prove himself worthy of living with the gods on Mount Olympus. With his plucky satyr sidekick, Philoctetes (Danny DeVito), along for the ride, Hercules must learn how to use his strength to defeat a series of evil creatures.

Still wondering if/how they could've included Hades's wife Persephone (Queen of the Underworld by marriage and Goddess of Spring by birth) in this - I mean it's spring and summer during most of the movie so she'll be with her mother so they have a reason for not showing her (for those who don't know, some say Persephone married Hades willingly, I get the feeling in this story it would be one of the tellings of the story where she was not willing, but in any case she ate food from the underworld so she's bound there but her mother Demeter the goddess of the harvest gets so miserable whenever she's gone that she stops the everything from growing meaning not only flowers but crops, so to prevent humanity from starving they worked out a compromise that Persephone spends one month of a year with Hades for every pomegranate seed she ate (meaning autumn and winter) and the rest of the year (spring and summer) she spends with her mother, it's how the greeks and romans explained the different seasons).
I just keep seeing this interaction with James Woods's voice:
Persephone - returns to the underworld
Hades: "Persie! Honey! Sweetheart! Babyface, I can't tell ya how glad I am to see ya? What no smooch, come on baby, I'm your husband, got a nice dinner planned and everything!"
Persephone looks around the main room of the underworld, sniffs, sighs and says: "Ok, who is she? You've had a mortal in here - a live one. Don't try to kid me, I know life when I sense it. Who is she, what's she doing here, which mistakes did you cash on this time?"
Hades: "What? oh Meg? Oh baby baby baby you got it all wrong! Honeypie, you know you're the only one for me? Right?"

if you're interested, back in the 30s before they did 'Snow White' Disney did a ten minute short based on that story called: 'The Goddess of Spring'
They were still experimenting with animating actual people moving so the goddess's dancing looks a bit.....off let's just say. In other videos of this short where they don't cut off the top we can see her toes in the flower dancing bit and it was a surprisingly good drawing of toes (I think they're kind of hard to draw). I think the Hades character here - which makes him even more like the Devil than this story does though originally Hades was nothing like the Devil - is supposed to be called 'Pluto' which was the name the Romans gave Hades (Hades was one of the names of the underworld as well as its ruler) and also brings up his 'god of wealth' title (not sure if that was just something the Romans gave him or Hades was always a god of wealth but either way it makes sense in a way - they figured that since the dead go underground and since gold, silver and most valuable stones come from under the ground then that must mean that Hades/Pluto must rule over everything as well as everyone from underground), here's the video if you're interested: ua-cam.com/video/ZHBqkGzniyA/v-deo.html

I have some fun facts for you :
    1. In greek mythology, Hadès is Zeus' brother what makes him Hercules' uncle in the movie. Plus, Héra, Zeus' wife is also his sister.
    2. Scar skin is a reference of something Zazu says to Mufasa at the begining of " The Lion King " (he says he sees Scar as a carpet).
    3. One of the statues visible during Meg's song, the one of an angel kissing a woman, is a real one called " Psyché revived by Love's kiss " and is exposed at the Louvre museum (except they don’t kiss each other on the real one)

@@RukiyaReacts 1. Yes, Héra is his sister and she's not Hercules' mother in the mythology. She even try to kill him when he's a baby with snakes in his cradle but he kills them thanks to his strenght. You should know that Zeus is the father of the majority of the Gods. They're all the results of his infidelities.
Oh, and in antic Egypt, the pharaoh and his wife were also brother and sister (and often father and daughter) because it was the same thing with their Gods
      2. It's after the moment where Mufasa and Scar are talking after Simba's ceremony.
      3. As a french girl who has family next to Paris, I saw this statue withy own eyes.

I know Phobos and Deimos are in this movie but they're watered down to little gremlin henchmen. Hell even Zeus would've mad more sense as a villain

You know, your singing voice isn't actually as bad as you think it is. It sounds raw just because it's untrained. With the timbre in your voice and your sense of musicality, I would actually encourage you to try out singing lessons! Even just for the fun of it. It's of those skills that show noticeable improvement VERY quickly with lessons (which is nice and motivating), and once you learn the technique it doesn't really go away from your skill set (like learning to ride a bicycle). With how much joy you show in singing along, I think you'd really enjoy it. :)

And second, Phil has been antagonistic towards Meg almost since the very start anyway. So from Herc's perspective, Phil is just being a dick about Meg as usual, and baselessly accusing Meg for no other reason than to spite her. Let's not forget that the whole reason Phil doesn't like Meg is because she rejected his creepy-ass advances.

Cerberus, in Greek mythology, the monstrous watchdog of the underworld. He was usually said to have three heads, though the poet Hesiod (flourished 7th century BCE) said he had 50. Heads of snakes grew from his back, and he had a serpent’s tail. He devoured anyone who tried to escape the kingdom of Hades, the lord of the underworld, and he refused entrance to living humans, though the mythic hero Orpheus gained passage by charming him with music. One of the labours of the warrior Heracles was to bring Cerberus up to the land of the living; after succeeding, he returned the creature to Hades.

Hades and Zeus' third brother is Poseidon; God of the seas, storms, and earthquakes. One of Poseidon's kids was Triton; who was designated as god of the deep-sea. So yeah, Hercules' dad and Ariel's grandfather are brothers.

Hercules is definitely tone inconsistent, just like Hunchback of Notre Dame. Both of these movies are hilarious, in Hercules especially Meg and Hades are amazing. But the tone inconsistency kinda irks me, it's a super hero, Rocky, sports athlete's of the 90s taking advertisments movie about finding your place where you belong and trying to teach the humble guy to be humble and sacrifice himself. And the movie is kinda goofy and extremely serious at the same time.
Same with hunchback of Notre Dame, sometimes it gets extremely dark and frightening, and then they have the stupid gargoyles just saying silly stuff or having the goofy scream sound effect in the most intense scene in the movie, where the gargoyles fight the soldiers at the burning Notre Dame.
