Garrosh was that employee that never asked to be the store manager.
But in reality, he thought about it really hard.
And Saurfang was that employee who works for the company forever and is most experienced than the manager but don't wish to be promoted because he's fine doing what he already does well.
Well done Boss, you got yourself here a potential new series in the works! Looking forward to the main lore character battles but personally I would love to see lesser known characters duke it out. Here’s my suggestion:

@@Kaves253 Even Saurfang himself was another option if he wanted a warchief that's specifically an orc.
@@Kaves253 They really weren't at the time. Thrall was more looking for a leader for the orcs. Someone they could look up to and rally behind. Saurfang the Younger died in Northrend leaving Garage Hecksqueal the only viable orc commander left as Saurfang the Elder was too old.
If only Thrall had some leaders that were close to him that also wanted peace with the alliance and a good, healthy world…. Cairne, Vol’jin, Lor’themar….. na, let’s make the bloodthirsty maniac our leader.

Sairfang also led the combined forces in Silithis during the assault on AhnQirag and was the first choice for warchief. In fact he consistently turned down the mantle because he's smart.
One thing you didn't consider for intelligence/wisdom for saurfsng. He isn't just an old warrior. He's one of the top generals of the horde. While garrosh led the war song offensive, saurfsng was put as his advisor. Saurfang taught garrosh. Saurfang also planned the war of the thorns and tricked si7 agents into thinking he was arguing with sylvanas.
Also, Saurfang was the Supreme Commander of the Might of Kalimdor, a force of soldiers from both the Alliance and Horde during their assault on Ahn'Qiraj. So Saurfang definitely has the wisdom to lead a giant army.

Yeah i feel like the video was also overplaying the intelligence of Garosh both while leading the Horde and afterwards. His navigation of Politics was rudimentary at best and over his tenure he managed to effectively drive away all non Orcish members of the Horde. His treatment of them being so bad that Blood Elves - arguably the strongest Arcane Users of the Horde almost defected to the alliance (this only fell through because Jaina started her Purge of Dalaran) while trolls followed Vol'jin and his rebellion. Not to mention even during Wrath Saurfang did have to watch over Garrosh and secretly fix his mistakes. Such us when Garrosh severely underestimated a threath of a freaking Scourgelord and sent a single person as reinforcements for a Forsaken Agent tasked in eliminating the threat. And yes this is one of the cases where being a Player Character didn't save us from almost getting killed - Saurfang had to bail us out and boy he did it in style.
As for the Iron Horde it's less about Garrosh's intelligence rather than the fact he knew how the events would unfold. Keep in mind he acted after Gul'dan already went and turned Orcs against Dreanei and just offered a better alternative. He just swapped Demon Blood for "Technological" advantage.

U think saurfang is smart? Someone who goes into a 1v1 knowing they will die is not smart :D They may be honorable but not smart.
I don't think garrosh is all that smart either but he is smart enough to manage the horde, even if he did so through fear and power.
I think you got Garrosh's "DISADVANTAGE" right on the nose. From what I remember from the "The Shattering" novel, Cairn Bloodhoof took advantage of Garrosh's temper and recklessness and was seemingly winning the Mak'gora. I think he would have too, if it wasn't for Magatha Grimtotem's meddling. (poisoning Gorehowl)
Garrosh was upset that he would never know if he could have won against Cairn, too.
He wasn't seemingly winning, Cairne was beating the brakes off of Garrosh.

In terms of Raw strenght of races, Taurens are the top strongest followed by Worgen, tbh garrosh could NEVER win versus Cairne. Too bad i wished him for warchief

I'd also like to see this. They have such different powers and are two of the most powerful beings from Warcraft. Plus its the classic sibling rivalry.

Varian is also very strong and seasoned for battle. When it comes to wisdom and intelligence id even argue that Varian would surpass Garosh in that aspect as well.

1 small miss about Saurfang. Ingame is not shown proper but in the story of before bfa he did not know he struck from behind. I remember reading it. He throw it but when he realised because of the mist/fog and hit he's enemy dishonorably he regreated. Someon correct me if I am wrong but that's how I remember it from the story not ingame representation.
BTW GG for using the Tales of the past 3 for reference about Saurfang that is were I first learned about him and became a favorite of mine :)

Wasn't Garrosh angry when Cairne was poisoned? Sure he's not "the good" guy but unless we talk "at the peak" where Garrosh is infused with Sha, then I don't know if he'd win. Experience might sound like something good but not that important, but when we consider this is a world where they fight almost constantly and he probably fought enemies of various types, I'd say Saurfang would wipe the floor with Garrosh assuming the latter was basically slapped around by Cairne.
He was somewhat angry but more so at the fact that someone made him 'cheat' which is why he had the grimtotem tauren responsible for that to be all but eliminated save for the ones that escape his wrath. But yeah Saurfang would win in a very close match up if he kept his strategy of making Garrosh reckless and tire him out then with a well timed Cleave to wipe him off.

Arthas no diff
Technically Arthas wasn't the real (first) Lich King and such as I dislike Sylvanas and the entire Shadowlands story line; she was juiced the the Jailer himself. Bolvar IMO was stronger than Arthas, both in will and martial skill as human Arthas was not even Bolvar's tier. Yet Sylvanas bested him while juiced.
bolvar didn’t have frostmourne (and the thousands of souls it got to accumulate) at the time, also arthas had a lot more experience using death/lich king powers
@@taylemgames2652 The powers wielded by Arthas and the might to defeat the entire raid, including Tirion is probably beyond both Bolvar and Sylvanas.
@@taylemgames2652arthas is way stronger because he wasn’t just one with the lich king he also had frostmourne with sealed his own soul technically he can’t die without frostmourne destroyed…and it only can be destroyed by the Ashbringer so sylvanas would put a fight but you can’t kill somebody who’s unkillable
If the deciding factor is the fact that Garrosh would be willing to fight dirty, I think this might be worth discussion from two points of view.
Before the Pandaria expansion, when Thrall appointed Garrosh as warchief to venture into Outland to save his world and the 'aching' elements of Azeroth, he was challenged by Cairne to a mak'gora.
If Magatha Grimtotem hadn't poisoned Gore'howl, Cairne would have won just because he was calmer and more experienced, even if somewhat weaker than the young hot head. Or at least that's how the fight was going before Garrosh slightly nicked Cairne with his axe, which sealed the old bull's fate (due to the poison entirely).
I can see the Saurfang fight going similarly for Garrosh. Something to think about.

Pre-ending prediction: My votes on Saurfang. Of all the showings we we have for Garrosh, he doesn't actually have that many impressive wins on his own.
He fought Thrall in Org pre-wrath but they got interrupted
He tried to fight Varian in the Ulduar trailer but got interrupted
He was getting his ass handed to him by Baine before his unknowingly poisoned weapon scored him a cheat win
He didn't do a whole lot in Cata; threw that one orc off a cliff in Stonetalon and fought a drake or two in Twilight Highlands?
In MoP he fought Taran Zhu but didnt even kill him
His next "accomplishment" was ganking Kairoz when he was off guard after going back to the past, and getting killed by Thrall
Meanwhile Saurfang was one of the leaders of the original sacking of Shattrath city against the Draenei
Survived the 1st war, 2nd war, the internment camps and Thralls rebellion for liberation, the 3rd war and the psychological backlash from losing the connection to the demonblood and actually having to cope with the following trauma that broke most old orc veterans, led the charge on the Gates of AQ, didn't have any major showings from TBC to MoP until he survived being disemboweled in Siege, impressed Odyns forces in Skyhold so much their best smith made us an artifact skin based on his favorite axe, then went on to fight in the 4th War, and lead a rebellion against the Warchief before *finally* dying in a 1v1 against Sylvanas.
Saurfang would whip Garrosh. Aside from the experience, he is a skilled warrior and commander that is respected on both factions. Considering he was the supreme commander for both factions in the AQ forces. Where Garrosh has only commanded one faction.
Also when Saurfang threaten to kill Garrosh if he got out of line in Northrend, Garrosh believed he would. Both out of respect and fear from him.

For what it's worth, Garrosh wins the weapon category as well, Gorehowl is much more powerful than a regular axe as described in the Chronicles book. But yeah, Garrosh takes it as much as I love Saurfang lol. Nevermind that you could potentially give him the Heart too...

Let me save you the trouble. The Axe of Cenarius would shatter Gorehowl easy. Its the strongest known axe in Azeroth.
Saurfang is my favorite orc ever simply for the fact that he came out and said the truth: orcish honor... is fake. Orcs are traditionally "might makes right" and what ever the might decides is right is "honorable" and many bad orcs have used this as an excuse to be absolute monsters and do whatever they want such as both Hellscreams. Yes orcs can be better people such as Saurfang himself and Thrall, but it is definitely a mindset that needed to die with the title of Warchief.

Not easy to say, I think Garrosh might have the upper hand in physical strengh (due to age), but in a 1on1 fight, I'd say Saurfang has way more exerience and is less emotional, something that can make him reckless. And a reckless move would be punished by Saurfang.
So I would propably give the win to him.

Medivh vs Jaina Proudmoore could be interesting, who is the better mage?
Assuming youth = stamina is flawed. The young don't know how to properly use only the energy they need to, while the EXPERIENCED know how to avoid early exhaustion and, therefore, death. In a world where the strong die young, be wary of the old. Also, this sounds like I'm just simping for old age, but being younger also doesn't mean stronger. While old age will eventually atrophy the muscles of the body, the development of said muscles continues until that point. Aka, he's as strong as he can be until he becomes old and frail, but he's not frail because he is old. Put any high school football player up against a 45yo dad with 3 kids who works at best buy delivering fridges and installing TVs and lmk what you think about the "strength of youth".

Doesn't Saurfang damage Sylvanas post BFA? Right after she's dealing with threats greater than any MOP era boss? Garrosh included.
Only win con I can see for Garrosh is that transmutation, mind control hax but WoW bosses / leaders like Saurfang are immune to that.

Immunity negation is a power, lots of WoW bosses can circumvent immunities lol. Garrosh is just one of the few that can't with that move, just Devastation does that but it's still relying on Garrosh's attack potency.

Varrian vs Turalyon for the throne
My predicition is that Garrosh would try to rush saurfang down, using his youthful strength as an advantage, but Saurfang's experience would end up showing through, as after a prolonged battle, where Saurfang is on the defensive against Garry's relentless attack, Saurfang would find a single opening, which would be all he needs to change the tide of the duel and ultimately defeat Garrosh.
“Everybody’s favorite warchief” yeah, okay night elf. My favorite human king was Anduin, because he was the best and strongest. 😂 I, a Tauren main since 2006, have never liked or approved of Garrosh.

@@warriorsworld4638 Full Lich King, end of wrath? I think it's closer than you think. Malfurion does have the raw power but The Lich King whooped Illidan's ass before full power and there is no reason to think that Malfurion is so much stronger than Illidan that he would completely outclass Arthas.

I think my boy Garrosh will win. He was strong enough to control Y'Shaarj. He's got an iron will, just like his father. Not only that, but he has fought varian on three separate occasions. The first time in the Uludar cinematic. 1-1. The second time in the novel wolfheart, Varian beat him there, 1-2. The final time in the novel tides of war, this time Garrosh beat Varian 2-2. He is a Legendary warrior.

Through the lore it gets repeatedly brought up that while Garrosh is a good warrior, he is FAR from being the best. Cairne was owning him in their duel; he gave him serious injuries while all Garrosh managed was a shallow wound. Baine was considered as strong as his father, and in an alternate timeline he challenged Garrosh after the death of his father and killed him. Sure, they are tauren, so you could argue that they're physically stronger, but Cairne was beating him with skill, not raw strength. I am fairly certain that Saurfang would similarly outskill him in their battle.
Oh yeah, Death battle but Warcraft elusive, lets-a-go!
As for the winner, it's.. Well it's Saurfang, remember that these aren't humans, even someone like Cairne was DOGGING Garrosh not to long before WoD, so say about two to four years had passed. Even if the racial difference between Tauren and Orc is irrelevant, it's clear that for a warrior fueled culture like the Orcs, old age, until they are crippled or otherwise to old to even move, they will keep fighting as hard as anyone else.
As much as I want my boy Garrosh to win, especially since he pulled a power move by draining the entire essence of an old god and survived, it's clear experience and combat prowess beats raw strength.

In a world that has warlocks summoning huge demons, demon hunters becoming demons and launching eyebeams, death knights controlling masses of undead minions - don't be a dumb warrior with a honor code like Saurfang :D
I feel like you are missing a lot of key traits of both characters…
Cairne was beating Garrosh before he was poisoned. Once Garrosh found out it was not an honerable kill, he went after Magatha. I don't think the dishonerable thing you got goin here fits a duel for him

This old fossil against the the son of grom? I know doomhammer trused him enough to be a confidant but we all know who became warchief. Saurfang could've taken it for it from sylvanas but. The mad lad didn't have any foresight other than a deathwish. Hellscreams ambition and strong sense of humself over powers anything saurfang thinks drives him thats why he loses.
