Jeep needs to go back to off road basics, and reasonably priced affordable vehicles. Jeep's big issue was making too expensive luxury vehicles (which they couldn't compete in). A basic good Wrangler people could afford will sell if back to Jeep's core values).
You can’t have the words Dodge and Ram in the same sentence it’s Dodge done for and Ram is of course Fiat so-it’s Fiat Ram built by Stellantis but won’t be that for long-RIP. No One Is Coming to Save You--
Stellantis or GM isn't the problem. The problem is our unhealthy economy. Inflation has gone up over 20% which means Stellantis' cost have gone up over 20%. On top of it interest rates are high. People don't have extra money and these companies must raise prices, if that doesn't work they have to lower quality to save cost. Get dems out of office and things will improve.
They screwed themselves and then beg to be bailed out. They are also famous for sliming their way into other companies and ruining the product and reputation.. Example Mercedes-Benz of No America. I was a factory rep when Chrysler came in.. 50% of our western region quit.. I was one of the first. M-B has still not recuperated.
I owned a '91 Jeep Wrangler S (4cyl, manual, trans, no A/C, no stereo) and loved it. It was a red bare-bones rag top, crude vehicle, but only 11K (25K adjusted inflation today). It's a shame we can no longer purchase non-plush mobiles. Go back and keep it fun and simple JEEP!!!!
Never going to happen, Jeep.sold just there name for 8 billion, to Chrysler Fiat ,DODGE, you won't find the old Jeep quality in these new junks called JEEPS 😊
I do own a 90 wrangler 4 cyl 5 spd and like you stated, it's a basic machine with basic options. I could go on about how I can go anywhere with it and not worry about complex electronics breaking down but the bottom line is if stelantis wants to survive they have to listen to guys like you and me.
I am in the automotive production industry, as an independent integrator/designer/engineer/programmer/builder of machinery. The insanity I've seen in the last 5 or 6 years is beyond a normal person's comprehension. The Engineers and Designers at these big Tier 1s (the people who design the cars and all the parts involved) are not living in the real world at all and have zero hands on experience. Newer vehicles not only are completely screwing buyers, they are screwing mechanics, and the people the who make the parts. We went through 3 engineering revisions of a simple stamped bracket that probably costs $15 to 20 to make. The engineering and tooling behind the production of said part cost a few million at least. They're all idiots now. I worked with a few old school engineers when I first started and never had any problems. I've always said if you have a good car built between late 80s and early 2000s (up to around 2010 2011 or so depending on the car/model/brand) KEEP IT ALIVE for all it's worth. The amount you spend on spare engines / parts is NOTHING compared to spending 72k on a new piece of crap you'll have to replace every 5 years. Also, Rust Proof as much as you can. Use old engine oil, Fluid Film, etc chainsaw chain oil if you want, but keep them alive because soon they are gonna be the only thing left. **EDIT: Never buy a Rivian product. EVER. Just trust me on this one.
I have a 2013 Ford F150 I bought brand new with the 5.0L Coyote V8. That was the best decision I’ve made. Only one warranty ticket and it was a defective key ignition switch. Turned in my Ford points and got an air deflector and 5 oil filters. The employee said, that’s a lot of filters. I said not really since I changed my oil every 6 months or 5K, so 2 filters a year. I also said, I’m keeping my truck for the rest of my life because I can’t afford a $80k truck on my retirement income. Paying that kind of money for a truck is ridiculous to begin with. I drove a 23 Power Boost and it was a bigger change from the 2023 model year. Not really a fan of turbos at my age and just one more thing to break.
I drive an '05 Wrangler with the old 4.0 cast iron straight six engine and manual trans. Jeep should never have quit building those. 200,000 miles on one is easy. More if you keep the maintenance up on it. Jeep quit parts support on it when they brought out the JL series Wranglers but most parts can still be found aftermarket.
Honestly? Ive had several jeeps in the past, and I rentaled a 4xE for a whole week....feels nice (as a city car) yet for being an ev the mileage is absolutely awful....worse than my old 6l cherokee...the rest of it was a nice suv
@@MikeKessockExecutive greed. Union laborer compensation hasn't exactly kept up with inflation, but corporate executive compensation more than has. It used to be that executives made 20-30x what their lowest-paid employees made. Now they often make THOUSANDS of times what their lowest-paid employees make, and a lot more of manufacturing is automated nowadays.
2-3 years ALL Stellantis dlrs will be out of business! You are 100% correct Scotty! Their trucks are priced for millionaires. Normal people can’t afford 65-115k for a truck that used to be 35k just 6 years ago.
My brother owns a newer jeep wrangler, it was mine for a while. It had so many electrical issues that our local dealership was familiar with us. You're telling me that this SAME company is making an ELECTRIC vehicle?! oh god no!!
Not really, if you look back 50 years. Chrysler/ dodge never could make it on their own . In the early 80s Lee Iacocca came from ford to pull them out of the grave. They were literally about dead. The little k car and the minivan he helped develop saved them . If you are old enough you will remember . If not they were cheap but well equipped little cars pick your color for a heck of a good price with a decent warranty They were not really long long life cars but folks could easly afford them. Then in the early 2000s they were in trouble again latching on to Diamler. Later Diamler booted them for being leaches. They made a statement that pretty much politely said that.
I just want a straight truck or SUV, that needs basic maintenance. No computer chips, engine problems or a strange stickshift. I dont want my vehicle to lose its clear coat within 2 years. The transmission shouldn't go out at 3000 miles. Last, I would like a nice radio with good speakers. Nothing that has 30 pages for me to read just to operate the radio.
You should have kept it. It was better than what's being made now. A restore older vehicle is better and cheeper than anything on the lot now. I'm still in my 1994 cumins dodge 2500 series 4x4
The older Jeep Wranglers were pretty solid. Late 90's - early 2000's. Many southern ones still running around with >250k miles. Usually with the I-6 and 5 spd manual.
2005 Lexus LX470, here. 276k and still running like a scalded dog. Paid 17k for it in 2016. New cars are good for one thing only.... separating idiots from their money.
Once you buy a pile of crap you'll never go back. When i was 21 I bought a NEW Mitsubishi. It broke down on the way home. I'm 57 now and have never bought a Mitsubishi since.
I was a factory rep for Mitsubishi for 2 years, two months, two weeks and 2 days. Worst car company on the planet.. junk.. why, in bed with Chrysler Corp.
The insane rise in MSRP of new vehicles over the last 5 years is killing the industry. Manufactures tried to pocket the money their unscrupulous dealers were getting over MSRP. They simply added it to the monroney label MSRP, and now it is all baked into the price. Prices have risen nearly 50% in 5 years. They need to drop 35% to get back inline with actual inflation and demand.
@@EVS-w1m Yeah, never mind the thousands of people that work at each assembly plant and the thousands more that make parts for those assembly plants. Clueless............
I have a 2009 Chrysler Town and Country which I bought 14 months ago and put 7000 miles on it. Now 126000+ miles. No problems at all! I looked at the factory info on the driver's door and it was made in Canada! I guess there are some good Stellantis vehicles out there.
I have an '05 T&C with 180000k/miles (3.8L). It spent most of it's life in the south so no rust but faded paint. Uses less than a qt. of oil between 5000mi Walmart oil changes, no crank case blow-by. Recently there's a low oil pressure lite when the engine it hot and idling in 'drive' at a traffic light; in this instance the engine RPM is at it's lowest point. Next oil change I'm going to switch to 10W30 VS the 5W20 as recommended in the book. Hopefully higher viscosity will kill the dash light:) It does have several other ignorable dash lights but the electronic convenience doodads are still operable (power sliding doors, etc.). 23MPG interstate, about 20MPG for suburban driving. Stow/Go seating allows pick-up room for 4x8 sheets with the tail gate closed. I completely removed the roof rack after noticing some rust forming around the roof mount fasteners.
Bought a Kia Sedona van in 2002, great vehicle, no problems, finally moved in on at 253000 km. Replaced it with a 2018 Dodge Caravan, quality is definitely NOT job one, steering rack, rear shocks replaced at 50000Km, paint blistering on the hood, leather seat split. NOT AGAIN!
Had a 2011, steering rack, blistering paint, shocks, coils, radio, airbags, sensors out the wazoo, rot through frame and doors, handles falling off, window motors, rear tv notnworkin. Damn things disintegrate like nobodys business. Bought a sienna and havent looked back@@stevehughes2133
There are pics online that shows a Web of which companies are owned by other companies. Same with food companies and the products they make. Nestle and coke make damn near everything and we see how much they exploit the people. Check it out... it is shocking
After watching scotty kilmer past videos you'll find that the top auto makers either build their vehicles in a foreign country's or build in USA or either own stock, make parts, or once made a particular brand etc. Example Dodge brothers used to make parts for Ford and later were part owners of Ford motor company and now it's Dodge product brand is now being produced by Co named stellantis. Ford Motors Co is an American based Co. However, Ford is owned by shareholders. It appears that auto maker American and foreign all own a % of each other's companies 🤔 😳.
Bought my Jeep Gladiator Rubicon in May 2019…. No sales tax, $3,600 below list price and no dealer surcharge… Living in the Montana mountains, couldn’t have a better ride… winter, spring, summer, fall… Towing, Hauling , Off-roading, Cross Country,,, In town shopping… winch, heavy duty rear bumper, King shocks, long arms, 4.5 “ lift🎉 Worth every penny and then some…🎉 Aside from the undisclosed driver floor catalytic converter overheating hazard issue…😂
My wife’s 2013 jeep jk , 2 door 6spd manual no power anything , was 22k can out the door, only problem she's had was the heater core plugged with casting sand, , pretty shitty on gas but it's a pretty fun summer driver with the top off
Nobody is buying them? Here in the Chicago area if you’re a soccer mom then you just have to have one. “ I need a 4x4 to take my toddler to gymnastics class”
2006 Grand Caravan needed front end parts at 27,000 miles. Was a rusted piece of junk by 2016. How many miles on that Durango? What parts did you have to replace? How much money did you have to spend to keep it going?
Had a 1984 Jeep Cherokee (boughtnew) and a 2006 Wrangler X (bought in 2010 with 17k miles). Both phenomenal vehicles. No problems while I had them. But both were at had at reasonable prices
Toyota is recalling over 100,000 2022 and 2023 model year Toyota Tundra pickup trucks and Lexus LX SUVs due to a potential engine failure caused by machining debris left in the engine during manufacturing
Both of our rural carriers had right hand drive Jeeps to do their routes. The Jeeps were endless headaches so now, one has a 4-runner and the other, a Ranger truck. Both have pretty much said "Never again."
Love it Scotty! A wise friend once said " To be insane is to see things as they REALLY are" l'm glad there are few us 'insane ' people to point out reality to the rest of the world!😊
Leyland was never in the car business prior.. clueless. I worked for the BMC dealership in Monterey Calif when Leyland came in... appalling. I still own, and drive daily, a 1963 MGB.
I went with a new 2025 4x4 Ford Explorer this week. Active model in Vapor blue. Gorgeous and practical and well optioned. Stickers at 43k and I spent six hours talking them down to 38.5k. They threw in an extra year of bumper to bumper warranty and free regular Maintenace as well to earn the financing. Took it home done and done a half hour after they closed that evening. You CAN dicker on a new car again! Had I wanted a 2024, I could have gotten 1.9% financing. But all they had left were in black and gray. Meh. I think the Jeeps are cool, but way less practical than an SUV.
Jeep was bad back before 2000 when I test drove it, a noisy sardine can. Of course, I did not buy it and would not buy one now at astronomical selling prices. Stellantis...Stella=star so the corporation is pricing their vehicles star high!!! LOL
I like my Jeep Gladiator Mojave, but, to be honest I don’t drive it that much. 3.6 gas motor. Hopefully, changing the oil often helps keep it running well.
I'm still driving my 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 5.7 Hemi. 176,000+ miles and looks almost new. I think the only color they made was Silver. There must be 10 of them still running in my town and all are Silver. I also remember back when driving my old CJ. Jeeps waved at each other. Also leaving the drains open on the floor incase it rains that night.
My first vehicle was a 1975 Jeep J-10 Gladiator. I drove it for 29 years. Before one sees this as a testament to its reliability, I burned through 4 engines and its AMC components were the weak link. From trim, instrument cluster, to its 360 cu in V-8. I kept patching it up so much its nickname became "Frankenjeep" Or "Frankie" For short. Looking at the new Gladiator I could see the same weak links my 1975 J-10 had! The 3.6 V-6 is the 360 V-8 of today
@serenityb5816 BULLSHITE. There is ONE reason for inflation...Fiat currency, and Govt. running the printing presses 24/7. Same as Wimar Germany, Zimbabwe, and now the U.S. these asshats who think they're the Masters of the freaking Universe will devalue the currency by creating dollars out of nothing, nothing of worth backing it except the " full faith & credit of the Govt."....YOU have any faith in this Regime? Me, neither...
I just purchased a new fully loaded 2025 Ram 1500 and do not agree that it's a crappy vehicle. It's actually currently one of the very few highest rated pickup trucks on the market according to Car and Driver (10/10 C/D rating), many others including myself and I'm happy that I bought it and consider it worth more than every penny I paid for it. I don't know anything about Jeep and never understand anybody's fascination with them.
2022 Sahara 4cyl w/ toybo fully loaded was 56K. But it's fully loaded. Love it so far but scary news. 2013 Challenger R/T with 134K miles runs like a champ. No major repairs so far but could use a new rear diff soon tho. Never giving these vehicles up...EVER!!
Ram pickups are fantastic mechanically but I agree that the new ones need to come down in price. I've owned six Rams in a row since 2008 and had near flawless service from them all.
You can't be serious... my 1996 was the worst of the hundred cars I have owned since 1964. A total POS. It started imploding at 6K miles. Worst dealerships and worst factory reps on the planet. I was in the car biz for 25 years.. 11 retail and 14 years as a factory rep to include MAzda Motors of Am, Mercedes-Benz of North America.
Toyota is recalling over 100,000 2022 and 2023 model year Toyota Tundra pickup trucks and Lexus LX SUVs due to a potential engine failure caused by machining debris left in the engine during manufacturing

The Hemi tick. Whenever I bring that up to someone in a Ram, Charger or Challenger, they say, "NO, ITS JUST THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD!" Then I say yea, that too. Good luck with your heater core when it goes out in six months.

Manufacturing in US is expensive, and the caliber of the workers is lower than that of any third world country. I 100% say that with first hand experience. There is zero pride in building a vehicle, moving to Canada is an upgrade, to Mexico is about the same quality of workers but half the labor cost.
workers in other countries don't constantly get ripped off by the corporations the way Americans do. We pay 100x every other country for everything, we give up our right to sue if we buy something, warranties are becoming non-existent, 48 hour return periods for major appliances, they pay less tax than people do, etc, etc, our wages and benefits are lower than workers in other countries. The American workers and consumer exist to be fleeced by the corporations that own the government. It's no wonder we build their products like crap, they treat us like crap.

Long overdue!! 😘😘😘
Wait, how do you kill the fiat brand? They have sucked since before I was born. I am 56.

Recently there's a low oil pressure lite when the engine it hot and idling in 'drive' at a traffic light; in this instance the engine RPM is at it's lowest point. No, it's not the work force in canada is just as union shitty as the states, hell even the japanese workers aren't doing a good job anymore
workers in other countries don't constantly get ripped off by the corporations the way Americans do.
Playtriot spewing nonsense.
@@stripeytawney822 yep, how many times Scottie has said on THIS channel. Buy a car made in Japan or Germany, it is made better. Lol 🤣 .
Who told you it's zero pride? Someone lied to you buster!
If you what real information watch Scotty. Thank you SIR for laying down the truth. Respect from north of the border.
And Toyota is just as bad their engine's are blowing up before they can drive them off the lot 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The outside of the Belvedere plant has looked like a ghost town for over 2 years now
I have a RAM Promaster City in Nevada and so far it is great. Seems maybe you are excessively negative on RAM and JEEP.
And how long have you had it? Use it for a work truck?. Hunting? You'll see if you aren't a yuppie.
@@christopherw4527 Going on four years. I live full-time in it and have done so since the day I bought it.
"So far".
Scotty should be required watching by all corporate leaders of automotive companies.
