Same here! And this should ramp up more and more! With full reusability, even with a little maintenance after flights, SpaceX should be able to reach crazy speeds!
WAI: satellite, drone, helicopter photo galleries twice a week and inside view of SpaceX starship development!! Chinese rocket scientists: YES PLEASE! Shиt up and take our money!
Paint is big deal. I worked a water utility. It’s called “coating” as a coating of protection for metal pipes, components and such. It’s a serious group of guys. Corrosion protection for expensive and complex parts.
And the prep work is the only more important than the choice of coating material, application choice. Perfect preparation covers a multitude of errors.
@@GrigoriZhukov You know it. Especially Sand blasting. They have a sandblasting building and it’s big, for big components. Also the system shuts down for a few days for maintenance every so many years. Then everyone hustles to fix, replace, repaint, and so on. The Coating Team goes to work almost 24/7. Always impressive.
When the chopsticks catch a returning booster or starship they should be positionally offset rotated from the rocket launch stand. This allows a "returning" booster or starship to not damage the launch mount and its infrastructures. If you want fast launches, the previously caught booster is already prepped and waiting on the OLM. The starship is caught, rotated and stacked on this booster, both refueled, launch again.
Because water is not only used for fire/heat suppression (cooling). The water also helps in dampening the sound from the engines. So it serves two purposes: fire/heat and sound suppression.
With all the rumors about SLS being cancelled I can easily picture the Orion capsule riding atop of the New Glenn second stage. The launch abort system and all the other technology belongs to NASA. They can move the system to any vehicle they want. I suppose there is more to it besides the diameter of the vehicles.
I think the Chinese rocket catch approach at 18:10 will be widely applied, seems like a reliable and sound method. It won't support same-day turnaround that SpaceX is aiming for, but it will meet the needs of most launchers.
They would instantly shatter into a gazillion pieces and become projectiles that damage the booster and stage zero... its ceramic like... imagine a stick if dynamite in your coffee cup
It looks almost as if the modular components of the new OLM are small enough to fit inside of the starship payload bay, almost as if this design could be constructed into a lunar or even martian OLM.
That is so much space junk they could potentially ruin low earth orbit all together. Someone really needs to work on clearing the junk out of orbit soon.
Luckily the easier to get up there the easier it is to start cleaning some stuff up. I heard there are a few companies working on some stuff that can de-orbit random space debris.
@azidoazide7039 one can hope there are more than one or two solutions. Because from 1mm piece to a mangled but complete bit of junk. Frankly, it should be moved to a stable orbit at an automated recycling point that resmelts metals etc. For reuse in orbit.
Could something like the water deluge system help to protect the launch mount during landings as well as takeoffs? I suppose it might knock the booster off course ...
EU really should just license spacex to launch from the continent to provide serious competition otherwise ESA will just waste money on legacy style contracts like NASA did with SLS
French Guiana is legally EU, but also almost directly on the equator. There isnt a big incentive to launch from Europe because it's on a high latitude and doesn't have a huge ocean to the east to drop spent stages into
Why don’t you ask them? Why why don’t they put landing pads over on the other side of the launch facility so they can land everything there and keep launching and that way they don’t have to keep redoing the launch
Speaking of paint coats and rust protection, does the olm and launch tower utilize active countermeasures such as electrical sacrificial anodes etc?...
Bro I dunno what you were thinking puttin that "hawk thua" sound bite in there... especially so long after it happened... this isn't a pop culture youtube and it was a pretty big turn off for me. I dont know what you were thinking dude... youre older than me.. like 50, so you should know better. I'd remove it before more embarrassment.
What the fck is happening with the youtube audio track. Suddenly it switched to spanish and i had to restart my PHONE to get it back to original audio track. I hate youtube more and more
Can you either ditch the music or turn it up? it was driving me batty, I didn't know where it was coming from and it took a while to realize the sound of a faintly playing chorus of bagpipes I was hearing was not, in fact, me losing my mind.
Imagine putting a firecracker in your coffe cup. It would shatter into a million pieces and probably injure you as well... on the olm it wouldn't be much different than the rock tornado... it would just be a ceramic tornado and likely damage the booster or stage zero
I thought of the idea of the catch system like the 3D printer but instead using steel cables rather than arms. Four towers with some sort of system that would make the cables come closer and wrap around the booster once the flames are under the cables.
Four towers is 4 times the cost and complexity. Remember Musk's mantra "the best part is no part". I would add for rockets the 2nd best part is the part left behind and the 3rd best is the one that performs multiple functions. The tower fulfills both 2nd and 3rd at the same time.
I would like to see Starship go to space then land back on land,I know they want to catch it with the chopsticks but would like to see it come back to land on land from space.
With that many starlink satellites in LEO, I believe at that point SpaceX would blot out the sun, let's hope they don't plan on launching that many starlink satellites.

The repaint is important because this is a marine environment. Saline will ROT reinforced concrete. Remember Camplain Towers Condo ??
Yea, that was brutal. I think the pool was leaking too, chlorine caused excessive oxidation/rust to occur.
They also had half the required rebar in the concrete base.

Why do they use Water, is it possible to use something else to cool the OLM?
Because water is not only used for fire/heat suppression (cooling). The water also helps in dampening the sound from the engines. So it serves two purposes: fire/heat and sound suppression.
@@okirooju3787 thx
Why Don't they use Stainless as the protective layer on the Launch Mounts legs?

Bring on the space gas tank. So want to see that working.
YEESSSSS! LIGHT THAT CANDLE BABY!!!!
2:39 They should cover Stage 0 legs with heat tiles
They can't handle the shock and vibration of launch.
They would instantly shatter into a gazillion pieces and become projectiles that damage the booster and stage zero... its ceramic like... imagine a stick if dynamite in your coffee cup
bet you the OLM paint is all ABLATIVE!!!❤❤
It looks almost as if the modular components of the new OLM are small enough to fit inside of the starship payload bay, almost as if this design could be constructed into a lunar or even martian OLM.
13:12 But the 219000 tons payload per year includes much fuel to increase or leave the earth orbit.
That is so much space junk they could potentially ruin low earth orbit all together. Someone really needs to work on clearing the junk out of orbit soon.
It is fiiiiiine. It's space It's infinite. Plenty of room up there. /s
Luckily the easier to get up there the easier it is to start cleaning some stuff up. I heard there are a few companies working on some stuff that can de-orbit random space debris.

The water deluge system is used on landing. Watch real close at 6:47-6:49 at landing of the official SpaceX broadcast.
Never mind the rest of the space programs Space X is making Thunderbirds look bad 😂
So, we first seen falcon, then falcon heavy. Do you think there is a chance we could ever see a starship heavy? Is that even possible?
Your web site is not showing you-tube links of starbase / starship - just so ya know
Fixed now - as all ways, it dose not work until you complain and then it dose. love your work .nz
I wonder if u could put heat shield tiles on the launch platform.
Why dont they use a type of heat sheild tile on the launch tower instead of having to keep repainting it?

Yep! It was found in the quality control but still made it into the release. Persistent little typo! 🔥

More payload if you catch it.
Who says you can't launch and catch a rocket in the middle of a city? Everybody has insurance, or they should.
Noise would shatter windows
China does it from time to time, they're just uncontrolled landings

Will NASAs wb-57 ever track a reentry? especially with all the tests on this current iteration of heat shield?
