Danielle trying to get backup by asking who's been in a real brigade before (expecting few to no hands) and getting hands from EVERYONE in the room, even the guy making some food in the back, is absolutely hilarious to me. Edit: got my chefs mixed up :-\
An excuse I expected to see was Andy’s excuse during his elimination in Season 6. Not that he DIDN’T cut his hand and that it wasn’t his dominant hand. But when your teammates are Kevin, who sprained his ankle and Dave, The One Armed Bandit, it’s a bad look.
There was another chef in a later season that whined about a supposed injury, only for Gordon to pull him aside into the pantry and frustratedly tell him that Dave won with a broken arm ("I had a young man in here who broke his f***ing arm! He went on to _win_ the competition!").
Too be fair, Andy is a fucking trainwreck in Season 6. He made Dave got humiliated when presented the dessert on calorie challenge by adding Apple Compote on it and made Chef Ramsay laughed because of how pathetic it looks. Then, Chef Ramsay caught not doing anything in the kitchen by wandering around. I personally thinking Robert should've stayed over him on elimination night because even Robert told how pathetic he is in his hillarious rant. But, if Robert didn't have a bad attitude, he would stay over Andy.
Not to mention that Andy could/should have gone home a couple of times that season, especially before Robert. Gordon just overcompensated for Robert having more HK experience than the others.
I think she was confused because when water approaches a phase change (like from solid to liquid or liquid to gas) the amount of energy needed to break the stage increases.
around that time it was a very common statement online people would say that cold water would reach a boil faster. Technicaly it does increase in heat faster at the start but obviously doesnt actualy boil sooner. Im shocked that no one else has seemingly seen those posts before
I actually was told repeatedly that cold water boils faster when I was younger. Like, it seems so illogical but literally everyone around me accepted it as fact so I just believed it as well. Honestly kept believing until I saw it on Hell’s Kitchen. You can bet I felt dumb af XD
What's sad is that Wendy's "cold water boils faster" mistake was the kitchen equivalent of "blinker fluid." When working at a pizza place, I had a boss that tried to mess with every single new guy by telling them that, and then asking me to see if they'd actually fall for it. I can imagine someone at one point may have told her that, and she fell for it hard.
Hear me out. "She only won because I lost" means that she won because he did exceptionally badly, not because she did exceptionally well. It's like winning by default because the other team doesn't show up to the game. You didn't earn it, they just blew it. It isn't actually a stupid statement. It is a self-burn though to admit he did THAT badly
That still counts though. Some people do have a bad game compared to how they usually play but even though that sucks it still counts as a loss and the person has to try again next time.
It wouldn't have been so bad if she didn't keep bringing it up. Also, by that point the show had been on for at least 10 seasons. You'd think you'd invest a bit of research before dedicating a portion of your life to a fucking competition.
His face when he won and the hug he gave his wife and daughter followed by an effortlessly legendary speech.. the wholesomeness of it all. I definitely teared up! Scotts the man!
“Anton had arguably the greatest downfall in the shows history.” Also, in best non black jackets video- “his whole downfall wasn’t that bad” and “just the SIMPLEST of downfalls causes a chef like Anton to stand out.” Honourable mention to Anthony from season 11 to having a big downfall.
“ I gave Gia a second chance, which proved to be two chances too many. See ya Gia.” “Every dinner service, Danielle looked like a dear in headlights, and that’s why she ended up as dead meat.” “I’m trying to find someone who deserves a restaurant. Each and every step of the way, Garrett fought me and his team. That’s why he’s not here any longer.” “The third night of Hell’s Kitchen was shocking, really bad. I’m hoping we step up the gear, we raise our game, and start coming together as a proper restaurant. Jeff, well, I had to laugh when he called me an asshole I’ve been called far worse. Wendy well you know it’s about time I put you out of your misery.” “Like all marines, Frank was strong and very proud. Unfortunately for him, he’s just not ready for the rank of head chef.” “The only thing worse than the pain on Jonathan’s neck was listening to him blame everyone else for all his mistakes. I was glad to put him out of his misery.” “If Scott could cook as well as he talks, he’d be the winner of Hell’s Kitchen. Unfortunately for him, he can’t.” “Anton let the little success he had in Hell’s Kitchen inflate his ego, it was time to to let the air out of that balloon.”
1:12 GIA was an absolute joke to the point where she was Eliminated despite being on The Winning Team at the time And in the previous dinner service she only survived because JESSICA had already packed her bags & she used that excuse to keep herself here
it's like a modern wife's tale that could be debunked with two seconds of google, so obviously a lot of older women on facebook spread this kind of fact and others like it
I feel like “she only won because I lost” gets a lot more shit than it deserves. If someone makes a relatively poor dish, but you make a disaster, they win by default. It’s more “she only won because her competitor’s dish was actual ass, not because her dish was good”.
I have an idea...can you do "Top 5/10 Chefs that were eliminated “too early"...not necessarily shocking or unfair, more like chefs that were eliminated in the first few weeks that had maybe a bad service or two, but showed promise or had potential to go deep or were "randomly" eliminated early (maybe due to one bad service) just to keep the drama in... I'll be curious to see who you thought that was eliminated let's say before the Top 10 or middle of the competition that really had the potential to go deep or all the way...
I like to think Johnny from S16 could also take the spot as King of Excuses... Especially for why the fish weren't seared in the episode he was eliminated
2:35 DANIELLE if you've never work on the line in a professional kitchen before then you dropped yourself right in a pot of boiling water thinking you were going to go far in Hell Kitchen & possibly win it
And if you look at her job title, it said "Executive Chef". I'm not a chef but if the title is either Line Cook, Executive Chef or Sous Chef, that means the chef ever worked in a brigade. Either Danielle lying on her position or she's just completely clueless.
In Wendy's defense about the cold water thing, I used to think the same thing. About a decade or so ago, I was making tea, and I turned to my grandpa and said "hey, why do we boil cold water? If the hot water isn't hot, won't it get to the boiling point faster?" And he said "No, that's not how that works." And I didn't ask for further elaboration, I just thought that didn't make a lot of sense. Then a few years I just realized that that simply isn't true >.>
4:12 The real reason: He did own up to his mistake on the raw chicken, but the real reason why Garrett thought it would be faster was the Lamb Sauce not the chicken, in fact during the Served Raw version Ramsay said "If you don’t know what f***ing lamb sauce taste like, you shouldn't be in white!"
The finger cut one makes me angrier than I should be lmao. Getting a cut when preparing food can be horrendous. While I was a kid when this happened, something as easy as cutting an apple can just leave a permanent scar. My brother cut the top of his thumb off when at his previous job and thankfully he was able to get it sewn back on. If it isn’t drastic, just wash it and throw a secure bandaid on.
Most of the time when someone starts pointing fingers on this show, it's because they lack enough sense of personal responsibility. Not only that, but it leads to them not being able to grow because they can't fully acknowledge their own mistakes, so for those reasons, the finger pointing type of excuse is the worst unless they were physically prevented from doing their job by someone. Also, Chef Andi getting pissed off is here was almost scarier than Ramsay!
thank you for the upload master this was a good one! it's really funny when chefs are dramatic for the sake of working up sympathy and then make themselves look like a doofus, i wish i could be the medic to tell gordon ramsay "i don't see any cuts"
Jason Underwood, Elise, Robyn (Season 10, Season 17 Robyn was decent), Joseph, Scott "This team will crumble without me", sadly, as bad as Sabrina was, there were far more despised chefs, at least with Sabrina, she could cook, Jason enough said, Elise and Robyn could but similar to Sabrina was the attitude, Joseph could cook but was never getting far again with the attitude, Scott, don't remember much about his cooking
“She only won because I lost” is, in my opinion, a valid point. Not a good point, but definitely a valid one. If Frank had just listened to his orders(ironic considering he was a Marine) he would have definitely won that challenge.
I was actually told that cold water was supposed to boil faster than hot water by my teacher and my grandmother. I can't blame Whitney. Yes I found out that it is not the case.
I don’t get why she was kicked out for being confused. She was just trying to clarify the order so she doesn’t get it wrong again 2:20. I don’t get what’s wrong with asking the head chef if you’re confused.
A lot of people think that kitchen moments like Chef Andi’s outburst are exaggerated for tv or bc she’s working under Ramsay, but honestly the only exaggeration is how often it happens in a regular kitchen. It is absolutely normal to get your ass chewed out for giving anything other than a “yes chef” or “heard” while on the line. This is normal in high-end kitchens. You laugh during prep, fight during service, don’t talk during breakdown, and laugh again at the bar. It is a culture near and dear to my heart
"I thought cold water boils faster than hot water" As an asian, we are taught this so whenever we boil water we use cold water Why? because hot water is dirtier than cold water????
Can we get a remaster of your top 10 worst black jacket and best non black jacket lists? Assuming your opinions have changed I’d love to see them with your current editing skills
Gia and Jared complaining about a cut that you can't even see with the naked eye is hilarious in hindsight when you think about Dave, who won the competition with a broken/sprained wrist/hand
This better be on the list : Gordon - “The Chicken is Burnt!” Sharkiesha - “The chicken ain’t burnt. It’s Lighter than my skin. My skin ain’t burnt!” 🤣
I understand Gordon getting mad at people faking injuries especially since injuries in the kitchen can be really bad, and hazardous when chefs are bleeding everywhere
It's so frustrating because what he MEANS is 'She won because of my mediocrity not because of her own excellence.' It's still a self own but it makes more sense than the inarticulate garble he actually said.
I get what Frank means by the “won because I lost” comment, like she only got the point because he was worse in comparison, but that doesn’t make his line any less iconic 😂
To be fair regarding the cold water thing: i had science classes three years in a row from middle to high school that taught cold water boiled faster because of some kind of ‘momentum with temperature’
Sous Chef Scott will dominate every moments like the time he yelled at Benjamin, Monterray, Trev and even Raj. Don't forget how he pissed off to Andrea when she got tested on Black Jacket since she kept overreacting and even calling her c-word at some point.
I'll Always Laugh At Scott (Season 7) For One Particular Line. On The Night Of His Elimination Before He Was Kicked Out He Said "Don't Make Me Leave Chef The Team Will Die Without Me" Despite How Bad He Was At Cooking. He Was Just Always Coming Up With Excuses, He Thought He Was Amazing And Talented, And He Probably Even Thought He Was A Better Chef Than Gordon Ramsay. Definitely One Of The Top Three Most Delusional Chefs In Hells Kitchen History

Man, in showing that clip of Andi’s argument with Anton, you could do a whole list of instances of chefs arguing with sous chefs and staff other than Chef Ramsay himself. You could also include:
Scott Vs. Andrew (Season 1 taped door)
Christina Vs. Jackie (Season 15 ‘The F-cking List’)
Scott Vs. Benjamin (Season 7 calling out orders)
Jean-Philippe Vs. Van (Season 6 service argument)

@@AdderTude That was Jonathan in season 9 with his neck.

"I thought cold water was supposed to boil faster than hot water."
"What!?"
Still one of my favorite moments from HK
She was probably thinking that because hot water freezes faster than cold water, she just assumed the opposite must be true 😂😂😂

@@teleportingpotatoe Never in any circumstances. Cold water has less heat, ergo it takes longer to absorb sufficient heat to boil

Interesting point. There's so many joke lies I was told as a kid and then believed for way too long because no one clarified that it was a joke.

Hear me out. "She only won because I lost" means that she won because he did exceptionally badly, not because she did exceptionally well. I never get tired of Chef Andi verbally pinning down Anton

Yes. That’s what losing contests mean.
I feel like “she only won because I lost” gets a lot more shit than it deserves. If someone makes a relatively poor dish, but you make a disaster, they win by default. It’s more “she only won because her competitor’s dish was actual ass, not because her dish was good”.
For the ones that made the dumbest excuses, they know who they are
I have an idea...can you do "Top 5/10 Chefs that were eliminated “too early"...not necessarily shocking or unfair, more like chefs that were eliminated in the first few weeks that had maybe a bad service or two, but showed promise or had potential to go deep or were "randomly" eliminated early (maybe due to one bad service) just to keep the drama in...
I'll be curious to see who you thought that was eliminated let's say before the Top 10 or middle of the competition that really had the potential to go deep or all the way...

Legends have it that Scott is still rambling that he’s the best chef ever for
Hell’s Kitchen 😔
4:12 The real reason: He did own up to his mistake on the raw chicken, but the real reason why Garrett thought it would be faster was the Lamb Sauce not the chicken, in fact during the Served Raw version Ramsay said "If you don’t know what f***ing lamb sauce taste like, you shouldn't be in white!"
Nedra: you cant flip a pancake with a spatula

The finger cut one makes me angrier than I should be lmao. Getting a cut when preparing food can be horrendous. While I was a kid when this happened, something as easy as cutting an apple can just leave a permanent scar.
My brother cut the top of his thumb off when at his previous job and thankfully he was able to get it sewn back on.
If it isn’t drastic, just wash it and throw a secure bandaid on.
"Professional medic can't even find the f@cking cut! GET OUT!!"
You could tell he was just done with them.
"she only won because i lost" idk man that sounds like a winner to me
Most of the time when someone starts pointing fingers on this show, it's because they lack enough sense of personal responsibility. Not only that, but it leads to them not being able to grow because they can't fully acknowledge their own mistakes, so for those reasons, the finger pointing type of excuse is the worst unless they were physically prevented from doing their job by someone.
Also, Chef Andi getting pissed off is here was almost scarier than Ramsay!
saying " she only won because i lost " is like saying she only died because she stopped living
