It is blatantly obvious that Matt faced bullying even before coming to Hell's kitchen, but he had some talent. Although his "culitarian" skills are questionable, Ben was clearly the most pathetic contestant of Season 4. The typical middle school bully, mean, arrogant with no talent to back it up.
How was Ben the most pathetic? Jason, Craig, Jen, and Matt were so much worse. Ben didn't hide behind Bobby, Matt just made an excuse to throw Ben under the bus so that Matt can continue to stay, Matt has been given too many chances at that point.

My favorite moment of karma was in season 17 when Elise was going off in Michelle literally all season… and THEN she had to cook on Michelle’s team in the finale, only for Michelle to win. Elise’s final confession was honestly priceless. Say what you will about Michelle as a weak winner, and Despite being a horrible season for obvious reasons (Van not making top 9, and Elise being brought back again to survive elimination over and over a second time around) this was one of my favorite moments in HK history Also, my favorite moment of karma actually on this list was the number 3.
I don't even enjoy seeing Elise get eliminated because she genuinely shouldn't have made as far as she did in either season (and also she basically makes both seasons entirely unwatchable for me). If the producers knew how to actually handle villains rather than just keeping around dead weight for ratings, she would've been gone 5 episodes into season 9 and we would've never seen her again.
@@5PctJuice TBH, I feel season 17 was when the HK production team learned their lesson about keeping villains around for the sake of ratings. The only two I remember after 17 were scotley and Marc, both of which got booted pretty early and were definitely tamer than most classic HK villians
@@chrisredfield8722 I have to say I agree with you it should have been Nick and Michelle in the Finals of The All-Stars Ben in both his seasons was a gigantic douchebag and he rarely took criticism from Chef Ramsay very well. I believe two services he was in he was the reason for the kitchen being shut down and the team booted.
Some ideas of karma imo (I know some might disagree and I am prepared for that): Season 12: Joy's continual attempts to nominate Scott over petty ideas (either legit or not), only for her to quit over one minor mistake and him winning the competition. Season 10: Kimmie and Timmany's constant bullying attitude towards Barbie, only for them to be eliminated back to back while Barbie gets 4th place. Season 17: Elise's constant attacks and arguments towards Michelle, only to be eliminated in the BJC over the latter and forced to help Michelle win the final dinner service. Season 18: Mia's dismissal over the returning Veterans, only to lose to Ariel in the finale. Season 20: Keanu mocking the blue team over their poor start, only to be on the losing side after the team switch.
Let's also not forget that Joy mocked Jessica for crying when she was eliminated in the CFYL challenge only for her to do the exact same thing except she actually quits!
Don't forget Tiffany got kicked out by Chef Andi in one dinner service for giving the bad attitude to Kimmie and that's the only time a Sous Chef kicked out a contestant! And Tiffany got eliminated that night.
there's two things you don't do in hell's kitchen, possibly three: 1. NEVER DISRESPECT RAMSAY 2. never sabotage your own teammates. those same people who you tried to sabotage will maul you to death. and three: never fucking disrespect sterling. that man may see the good in everyone, but the minute you disrespect him, he'll castrate your ego like a disappointed dad of a choir boy in the 1800s.
Another karma moment involving Sara in season 2: In the episode where the teams created their own menus, Sara kept bragging how great she would be with her dish, but ended up struggling throughout the whole service.
He was after her from the moment he was put on the red team, and although she would've made the challenge a win, she wasn't able to take his nagging. I would've told him off big time, or stare at him after Ramsay said this dish was better like: 'You were saying?????' She was the scapegoat of the team for some bs reason.
@@femkefeenstra7754 she was and it was really sad because she tried her best and from what I remember a pretty good cook, her nerves just weren't good enough to take all the bullying she received
@@comicswithliz5136 Yeah, how much bs do you need to take to reach a breaking point. For some reason she couldn't do anything right accordig to her teammates, while other members should've left way before her. If only she had more confidence in herself... Fran for example should've gone home much earlier than she eventually did, but she was kept alive for some reason...
I didn't particularly care for Virginia and her story arch during her season, but the looks on Heather and Keith's faces when she pulled the 180 were incredible
I feel like Virginia is overhated because Ramsay picked her over Keith for the finale (which, yeah, it wasn’t fair, but that wasn’t her fault). She kept screwing up, but she managed to push through it and become a decent chef overall. I’d say she definitely earned her black jacket at least, and I can’t say the same for Matt, Andrea, or Spaghetti Josh
The episode with Matt is my favorite. Dude clearly had the skills, but those jokers mainly Ben slowed him down by being asswipes. Seeing Matt’s face knowing how right he is but still focuses on his work with his new team that respected him as he respected them is truly gold, and seeing Ben getting chewed is karma level 101.
It's worth mentioning also, that it wasn't just the Season 9 Red Team choosing Elizabeth's dish to present over Carrie's (better) dish that cost them the challenge. This was also the one where Krupa made her "veal" dish with filet mignon, and her dish was disqualified because she used the wrong protein. From what I remember, Ramsay took it out on the team since no one called out that she was cooking with the wrong meat, and used that as justification (along with disregarding Carrie's dish) to deny them the win. And I think the red team used this mistake to justify putting Krupa in the bottom that episode. Which, if this channel ever does a Worst Challenge Mistakes video, that one could probably go on there.
The greatest irony of season 13 was two members of that unholy alliance were eliminated before Sterling, and Bryant - another of their targets - made it to the finale.
I remember one case where season 14, they passed Michelle’s dish for another one, and true to form, her dish was the better one, and her team lost, When it came to punishment the team got disgusting smoothies, but Michelle got a vanilla milkshake
I think Elise losing to Jennifer after Jennifer blamed her for her season loss the first time was pretty swee karma, too. Also, SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVENT SEEN ALLSTARS LOOK AWAY, Michelle winning and Elise just in tears at the end was amazing too. Great end to the season.
@@emma6648Elise deserved WAY worse. She was one of the most detestable people in the entire series...always thinking she was better than anyone else and not doing her fair share of the challenge loser tasks.
@@EpicAndrew97 To be fair, Russell was pretty chill even with a lunatic like Raj on the team. It was the punishment with the youngsters that set him off.....permanently
What's more satisfying is, in the finale, most of his entire teams minus Jillian and Sabrina wanted to make him fail especially Rob. Meanwhile, Trev who is his constantly punching bag work his ass off in Nona's team and led Nona to victory.
Another video topic I’d love to suggest: Hell’s Kitchen Curses. Like do you think that some HK placements are cursed? For instance: The 11th Place Curse, where some chefs who start off strong or are major season players get cut right before the Top 10. Chefs like Hassan, Gizzy, Bret, Koop, Syann, and Keanu. Or the Last Black Jacket Curse, where the last chef to receive a black jacket ends up being the next boot. That’s happened since Season 14, to Josh, Manda, Kimberly, Robyn (who also had it happen in Season 10), Heather, Amber, Steve, and Cheyenne. Any other curses I’m forgetting?
The Season 14 curse, where most chefs who have returned aren’t as strong as they were in their original season. For example: Josh and T were eliminated really early in All-Stars and Rookies vs Veterans.
@@TPRules17 I’m not sure about that one. Josh was more or less brought on as a filler/delusional early out choice. T did fine for a bit on RvV, but got Dana’d after her first poor performance. Milly placed the same both times. Bret placed 3rd on RvV (but would’ve probably placed 4th if Motto hadn’t quit), but I’m not sure how far he would’ve made it if he hadn’t injured himself on Season 14. And Nick and Michelle both got better, with Michelle winning and Nick getting Shangela’d before the finale.
I called it the Hell's Kitchen female winners curse. Where for six seasons a winner was female. Honestly I was so happy to see Trenton win. Or the nobody 40 and above winner curse untill that was broken by Alex honestly I was happy to see him go through the door ending that curse too.
There should be a sequel to this, in season 16 Johnny and Andrew said they would make it further than Kimberly and they both got proven wrong and in season 12 Melanie Kashia and Joy put Rochelle up behind her back for basically no reason and when that happened Ramsey switched Rochelle and Sandra to the blue team then in the next challenge Rochelle was the reason the blue team won
Hard to call it lucky when he, you know, actually got to do service when he joined red team. and then ended up doing well enough to make it through to black jackets *whoops*
@@woobgamer5210 He wasn’t good though. He’s only passed by for ratings. That’s why all the bad chefs get kicked out once they get the black jacket, cause they don’t need them anymore
He did not do good enough. He had no reason to stay over Louross as he completely bottomed out and his only good service was the night Ben left so that argument does not work.
I will forever always be satisfied with Virginia buttering Sara up by pretending to even consider sacrificing herself over Sara. That “fuck no! I want to STAY” is EPIC!
What service? He had one good service and the rest of his services were terrible. He served raw chicken to a child then bragged about the fact that he didnt flich when ramsey got in his face. Have any of you actually watched season 4?
This honorable mention dates back from seasons 9 and 17. In season 9, Elise conspired to stay over Jennifer to make it to the final 4, and ended up getting Jennifer eliminated from the final 5. However, in All-Stars, although Jennifer lost the final black jacket challenge, Elise ended up getting eliminated before her narrowly. It didn’t seem like much, but she felt so much redemption. Even though she didn’t earn a black jacket, it meant so much more to her to surpass Elise in the challenge.
Because Lacey is a shit chef that lazed her ass off and didn’t even do good to help her team. Plus, she was the one of two chefs on that WatchMojo list to be ejected during service so… Russell may be an asshole but he’s the strongest chef of Season 8. If he wasn’t such a douchebag to his team then he would’ve beaten Nona easily, who was far more inconsistent and weaker than him in terms of cooking skills.
Russell is a good cook but with bad attitude. And in that WatchMojo list, they have most of Season 8 contestants such as Sabrina, Russell and Raj. Even Raj made it to #2 of their list.
@Wolf-vt9mvwhat does that have to do with his time on HK? I get that that's really crappy, but what he did YEARS after his time on HK shouldn't be considered for judging him on the show.
I feel like Julia doing incredibly well after her team were so awful and dismissive of her- was definite Karma. Especially the girl who called her out for working at Waffle House being the first to leave after she couldn't boil an egg :D P.S. I don't know if you are a Top Chef fan, but I'd love to see you do similar videos but about Top Chef contestants!
What's more satisfying is Tiffany begged to Melissa who got Best of The Worst to nominate Julia and Melissa said "No way!" But Melissa backstabbing her by nominating her instead because Melissa and Julia saved the opening night and Melissa takes no bullshits on that. It's such a shame Melissa becomes arrogant and even has messy hair, she could be in Black Jacket instead of Josh if she's not micromanaging everthing and act bossy.
Yeah it was pretty satisfying that most of those idiots who underestimated her got eliminated It just shows me that some of these executive chefs are too arrogant for their own good. The most satisfying episode was the make your own menu challenge the red team won and Gordon called out the blue team of four executive chefs that they got beaten by a short order cook, a nanny, and a dessert chef. To me, that episode was the most satisfying form of karma
What about All Stars when Jennifer finally got her revenge on Elise after season 9, by beating Elise by 1 placement and being absolutely elated by it, and taking her loss with pride and no resentment, even though she definitely should've gotten a black jacket over Robyn.
Matts situation is a prime example of how bullying doesnt pay, He stayed determined and stood up for himself, and once he was on the red team he thrived, i love it.
My personal favorite moment of Karma is Rochelle's nomination in season 12, followed by her swapping teams to the blue team. That sequence was really fun to me.
That feeling of vindication when you look behind you at your former teammates getting burned hard after you claimed they were the problem the night before must’ve felt great with Matt.
There have also been times when the team has been validated for dropping a dish. A good example of this was from season 9 when Elise's dessert was dropped in favour of Carrie's.
You know, with Ben, Matt, Carrie, and Elise being mentioned here, I wonder what a list of the biggest Chef Vs. Chef rivalries on HK would look like. And I’m not talking one-off arguments, I mean fights that lasted a few episodes or all season. Here are ones I can think of: Rachel Vs. Sara Jen Vs. Christina M Matt Vs. Ben Carol Vs. Andrea Robert Vs. Andy Tennille Vs. Suzanne Elise Vs. Carrie Barbie Vs. Tiffany Robyn Vs. Kimmie Sterling Vs. Steve (also mentioned here) Nick Vs. Josh T Vs. Monique Jackie Vs. Kristen Frank Vs. Manda Koop Vs. Paulie Elise Vs. Michelle Scotley Vs. both Gizzy and Trev Declan Vs. Marc Please let me know if there are any major ones I missed.
Steve wanted to inflict pain on Sterling by beating him up. The karma was the pain of Steve's knee along with the pain of being send home as a result of that and bad behavior! That was real karma! Ironically, positive karma on that Blue Team was Bryant and Sterling's relationship. It began very Rocky. Sterling apologized for his actions and they mended fences and moved on. That good karma showed its best at the Finals. Bryant chose Sterling first! A bit of a surprise, but it paid off. Sterling saved Bryant's Final service. To me, Sterling gave his best performance of the season that night! I believe that it was Sterling's positivity, hard working approach, and the never give up in that service that triggered the numerous job offers for him, even by Ramsay himself! Seeing Sterling in season 13, prepared Ramsay for Milly in season 14. Milly was more unpolished, but had the drive and determination.
For people that think they know what "gaslighting" is. It does not simply mean "tricking". #5 is an example. Pay attention to Sara's comments they're in the bedroom.
That team wasn't gonna let Russell win. They wanted the last laugh which they got. He treated them like peasants the entire time, bullying them constantly. Then to think they were going to help reward him with a dream job and $250,000? No way! It's why you be respectful on your way up in HK. I like the Sterling example. He and Bryant started off rough, Sterling apologized and they mended fences. Bonding until Sterling's transfer. Sterling had mediocre services throughout. However come money time for Bryant, Sterling actually gave Bryant his absolute best. In my opinion, that was Sterling's best all season. Leaving a lasting a "sterling" last mpression in HK history.
Russell treated all the other contestants badly in his season, and that was why three of them on his brigade for the finale didn't want him to win in the slightest. The shot of him sipping champagne at the winner party is the most satisfying part.
HM : Johnny in season 16 for just being a downright bully and bossing his team and then not searing the base beforehand after being told cause he knows everything. Hated that man so much
I think even if Russel's finale had been otherwise perfect, the second he put his hands on Rob, it would have cost him the win. The kind of chef that gets physical with their staff is not the kind of chef you want running anything.
@@CenationFan1000 like dead ass show me just ONE moment in like 20 seasons a SINGLE time where Gordon Ramsay tasted a dropped dish and wasn't blown away 🙄🙄🙄🙄
Bruh. Should have put the karma where the red team in Season 12 nominated Rochelle for wanting to start a family and the next episode, Rochelle (while on the blue team) beat the red team chefs (Kashia, Joy and Melanie) in the "King Of The Hill"-type challenge.
Russell's disappointed blurred shape as the door doesn't open will never not give me that very delectable feeling of second-hand karmic retribution. Two doors, three knobs, and he was the biggest one between them.
Kanae vs T. T demanding her dish stays and Kanae is set aside. T earns a 1 on her dish and the team loses. Had they chosen Kanae's they would have won. Same for Sade in her season. I other favorite was in Season 15 when the He ManWomanHating Marine Frank Cala prepares 2 dishes and presents them over Manda'a and both dishes fail miserably! 😂😂😂 She only won, because he loss...TWICE! 😂😂😂
Yeah, Frank cooked 2 meat dishes just because he doesn't trust Manda who iust moved to Blue Team is absolutely pathetic and even worse, they presented it for Chef Andi's wedding which later becomes a disaster in the dinner service and made poor Hassan got eliminated.
Matt always looked like he was about to bust out crying. He was absolutely awful. Never forget his signature dish. Raw scallops with white chocolate and caviar. Just nasty
I’m willing to bet if Chef Ramsay knew about Santos, Aaron and Steve’s sabotage plan, not only would he have all three nominated, he’d have all rights to eliminate all three that night
Maybe it’s just me, but Sterling also seems like the kind of guy who if I came out to him (I’m bisexual) would tell me that I’m still “100”. And that just warms my heart.
Sterling vs the Blue Team members Steve and Aaron! Steve and Aaron disliked him from the start! Aaron quits, but Steve threatened beat up Sterling. Inflict pain, only for him is knee to stiffen, inflict pain on him, and send him home! Bryant and Sterling butted heads, however Bryant and him mended fences. The result was Sterling saving his best performance for Bryant's money time!
Man am I happy to see Rob get his dues as a whiny, unlikable non-teamplayer. He is so underhated...not beloved per se, but doesn't get nearly as much flack from his season as his fellow Blue Team chefs. Which I get, Russell and Trev were especially awful too, but at least those guys had 1 or 2 funny confessionals. Nothing about Rob was charming or rootable at all!
I cannot stand when someone lies about someone and gets them in trouble. Last year I lost a job because a known liar said I sexually harassed her. 5 months later it came out that I didnt do it and I lost my job for nothing. I understand the first situation 100%. Matt made a classic mistake. He threw a bunch of expensive and bizarre and impressive sounding ingredients together thinking it was going to win which is a huge mistake. If I did that and put it in a blender would YOU eat it?

I wish more people were like Sterling. He never made enemies and always stayed positive no matter how many insults Gordon through at him. He definitely deserved to keep his apron.
As much as Matt sucked on his run, Ben getting his ass handed to him after Matt proved him wrong was just poetic.
But still, Matt sucks at the dinner services and being a black jacket contestant.

My favorite moment of karma was in season 17 when Elise was going off in Michelle literally all season… and THEN she had to cook on Michelle’s team in the finale, only for Michelle to win. Elise’s final confession was honestly priceless. Say what you will about Michelle as a weak winner, and Despite being a horrible season for obvious reasons (Van not making top 9, and Elise being brought back again to survive elimination over and over a second time around) this was one of my favorite moments in HK history
Also, my favorite moment of karma actually on this list was the number 3.
Michelle is definitely not a weak winner, Michelle deserved to win over Ben. Nick should've been in the final two anyway.
Not to mention Elise didn't even make it to black jackets in season 17 which was awesome because Jennifer also got her revenge from season 9
Some ideas of karma imo (I know some might disagree and I am prepared for that):
Season 12: Joy's continual attempts to nominate Scott over petty ideas (either legit or not), only for her to quit over one minor mistake and him winning the competition.
@Wolf 2000 If Joy had never quit, she would've lost to Scott in the finale due to her lack of composure when things didn't go well.
@@chrismathgenius I actually wonder how well Joy would have ran the pass and see how she react to the sabotages given to her
Don't forget Tiffany got kicked out by Chef Andi in one dinner service for giving the bad attitude to Kimmie and that's the only time a Sous Chef kicked out a contestant! And Tiffany got eliminated that night.
Elise cried because karma is a b****
there's two things you don't do in hell's kitchen, possibly three:
1. NEVER DISRESPECT RAMSAY
2. never sabotage your own teammates. those same people who you tried to sabotage will maul you to death.
and three: never fucking disrespect sterling. that man may see the good in everyone, but the minute you disrespect him, he'll castrate your ego like a disappointed dad of a choir boy in the 1800s.
That analogy was fucking gold
Another karma moment involving Sara in season 2:
In the episode where the teams created their own menus, Sara kept bragging how great she would be with her dish, but ended up struggling throughout the whole service.
Matt's smiling at Ben getting yelled at was funny
I felt so bad for Siobhan how Ben and the rest of the team treated her
He was after her from the moment he was put on the red team, and although she would've made the challenge a win, she wasn't able to take his nagging. I would've told him off big time, or stare at him after Ramsay said this dish was better like: 'You were saying?????'
She was the scapegoat of the team for some bs reason.
@@femkefeenstra7754 I agree, I felt bad for her, especially after the sandwich competition
I didn't particularly care for Virginia and her story arch during her season, but the looks on Heather and Keith's faces when she pulled the 180 were incredible
That's exactly how I was reacting
I feel like Virginia is overhated because Ramsay picked her over Keith for the finale (which, yeah, it wasn’t fair, but that wasn’t her fault). She kept screwing up, but she managed to push through it and become a decent chef overall. I’d say she definitely earned her black jacket at least, and I can’t say the same for Matt, Andrea, or Spaghetti Josh
Rob when Curtis needed help: 'Huh? You hear something?'
Also Rob: *Please Russell senpai, I need your help!*
Respected him? Clearly you have not watched that episode in a while as in the very next episode matt went straight back to sucking ass
I didn’t like Elizabeth at all she was annoying and Gina Elise is all bark and no bite
The greatest irony of season 13 was two members of that unholy alliance were eliminated before Sterling, and Bryant - another of their targets - made it to the finale.
And since Aaron chose to quit and Steve got injury, they both are not returning to the final.
I remember one case where season 14, they passed Michelle’s dish for another one, and true to form, her dish was the better one, and her team lost, When it came to punishment the team got disgusting smoothies, but Michelle got a vanilla milkshake
Yes, Meghan and T made sure of it! I think that's Sous Chef Andi make sure to give Michelle got the good milkshake!😂😂
Yeah, Andi said that it was random but I don't think it was lol
I think Elise losing to Jennifer after Jennifer blamed her for her season loss the first time was pretty swee karma, too. Also, SPOILER ALERT IF YOU HAVENT SEEN ALLSTARS LOOK AWAY, Michelle winning and Elise just in tears at the end was amazing too. Great end to the season.
And even Jennifer didn't mind to not get Black Jacket which she should over Robyn. She's just happy to finally beat Elise.
That’s mean Elise didn’t deserve that
Why make fun of someone being sad, hell is waiting for you I assume

What's more satisfying is, in the finale, most of his entire teams minus Jillian and Sabrina wanted to make him fail especially Rob. Meanwhile, Trev who is his constantly punching bag work his ass off in Nona's team and led Nona to victory.
@@margarethmichelina5146 Russell had every right to bully Trev.
Another video topic I’d love to suggest: Hell’s Kitchen Curses. Like do you think that some HK placements are cursed? For instance:
The 11th Place Curse, where some chefs who start off strong or are major season players get cut right before the Top 10.
Amber should never have got through to black jackets tbf
It's not just since season 14, Jimmy, Josh, there's surprisingly a decent list for it happening
Ben had that iconic moment where he spoke too soon and thought Chief was complimenting him when he was really setting him up for an insult.
Yes! To both of these
Steve and Aaron's karma was brutal... never poke fun at the man sterling...
Matt was never underestimated. He just happened to get lucky that he had a good service and Ben didn't.
Hard to call it lucky when he, you know, actually got to do service when he joined red team.
and then ended up doing well enough to make it through to black jackets *whoops*
@@woobgamer5210
He wasn’t good though.
He’s only passed by for ratings. That’s why all the bad chefs get kicked out once they get the black jacket, cause they don’t need them anymore
@woobgamer5210 Yeaaah no... Louross losing to Matt is the biggest crime Hell's Kitchen has committed.
He did not do good enough. He had no reason to stay over Louross as he completely bottomed out and his only good service was the night Ben left so that argument does not work.
@@noisysea3487 I was agreeing with you.
I was so pissed when Louross didn’t make it to the black jackets.
Watching Ben get his shit wrecked while Matt kicked ass on Red Team was *chef's kiss* just so good.
I will forever always be satisfied with Virginia buttering Sara up by pretending to even consider sacrificing herself over Sara. That “fuck no! I want to STAY” is EPIC!
Damn, Matt truly got redemption. He made a freaking terrible signature dish. But for service, he proved against all odds.
It was 1 in 100000 chance he is mentally broken
He shouldn’t have gotten a black jacket over Louross, but yeah I feel like he was better than people give him credit for
What service?
I love that Russell's rebuttal to Rob putting his hand on his chest was to grind his belly against Rob lol
A reminder Watch Mojo put Lacey as their #1 most hated hells kitchen contestant and not, ya know, Russell
It is Lazy Lacey.
Lacey was annoying, lazy and stupid, but she didn't seem outright malicious like some of the other contestants.
Because Lacey is a shit chef that lazed her ass off and didn’t even do good to help her team. Plus, she was the one of two chefs on that WatchMojo list to be ejected during service so…
Russell may be an asshole but he’s the strongest chef of Season 8.
Elise is by far the most hated contestant.
Ben and russel deserved the biggest amount of karma
Didn’t Ben assault someone after the show?
Ben is a misogynist.
He was later arrested for assault and battery against a woman.
Ben didn't deserve it but Russell did
@Wolf 2000 so what? That was after the show and lets not focus on that.
@Wolf-vt9mvwhat does that have to do with his time on HK? I get that that's really crappy, but what he did YEARS after his time on HK shouldn't be considered for judging him on the show.

And they dropped it due to the strong smell alone, so yeah. Smart move, there.

Steve gangs up on Sterling. Later , he leaves injured. Seems like Karma to me.

Russell was the type of guy that would've fired his entire crew on the first day. I'm super glad he didn't win
